Fenix is a new art museum in Rotterdam dedicated to the theme of migration, located in the historic Fenix warehouse, a former Holland-America Line storage and transshipment building. The museum, designed by MAD Architects, features a striking architectural element called the "Tornado" – a twisting, stainless steel staircase that spirals up to a rooftop viewing platform. The museum aims to explore the human stories of migration through art, both historical and contemporary, and includes exhibitions like "The Family of Migrants" and commissions from emerging artists.

Inside the migration museum Fenix there are people looking at migration related art.

Fenix is housed in a historic harbour warehouse dating back to 1923. Once the world’s largest transshipment warehouse, it was designed by architect Cornelis van Goor and built for the Holland-America Line. Back then, it was known as the San Francisco Warehouse, stretching 360 metres along the quay. Over the years, the warehouse has been restored and transformed into a museum.

The Tornado sculpture in Rotterdam is a 30-meter-high, double-helix staircase designed by Chinese architect Ma Yansong of MAD Architects. Located within the new Fenix Museum of Migration, the Tornado spirals from the ground floor to the rooftop, symbolizing migrants' unpredictable journeys. It is clad in hand-polished steel panels and built from thousands of wooden planks, offering a viewpoint over the port where many Europeans once departed for new lives.

Além disso, editei as fotos no meu notebook - coisa q dificilmente faço.

A new themed art museum on migration in Rotterdam. It is located in a former warehouse, and enriched by a sculptural staircase dubbed “The Tornado” by the locals, designed by Chinese architect Ma Yansong. Both the space as well as the exhibitions are very inspiring. I hope to return soon, when they accept the Museumkaart which currently isn’t the case yet.

This morning my friend and I went to this new museum in Rotterdam called Fenix. It is a art museum about migration in Rotterdam. Entrance is €15 and the collection is bullshit. It is a bullshit museum for bullshit people. I cannot imagine that we have a worse museum in the city. It is located not far from the cruise terminal so their audience is probably rich cruiseboat people.

But... the only thing they've got going is that it is a beautiful building and it provides unique views over the city. It is a bit like the Guggenheim Bilbao. Collection is also bullshit but the building is unique. So there you have it... I don't like it.
