I visited my siblings and my old home ... as always, very nice ... for heart and soul ... and this year the weather worked there too - the first snow in the North Eifel nature park and so I was able to photograph this beautiful subject while hiking in the snow. I stitched two 30mm portrait format photos for this image and finally chose the square format for this calm composition.

Ich habe meine Geschwister und meine alte Heimat besucht...wie immer sehr schön...für Herz und Seele...und in diesem Jahr hat es dort auch mit dem Wetter geklappt - der erste Schnee im Naturpark Nordeifel und so konnte ich bei einer Schneewanderung auch dieses schöne Motiv fotografieren.
Ich habe zwei 30mm Portraitformat Fotos zu diesem Bild zusammengesetzt und wählte final das quadratische Format für diese ruhige Komposition.

I hope you are safe and well and that you can spend the upcoming days with people you love whether you celebrate christmas or not.
In case you are curios: Yes, the cards in the picture are handmade by me. The ones of you who have been following me a while know that I love making and writing christmas cards to my family and friends.

ich hab mich hier nicht viel sehen lassen in letzter Zeit. Das ändert aber nichts daran, dass ich euch ganz wunderbare Festtage wünsche.
Ich hoffe, ihr seid an einem sicheren Ort und könnt die Tage in Gesundheit mit Menschen verbringen, die euch guttun, ganz egal, ob ihr Weihnachten feiert oder nicht.
Falls ihr euch fragt: Ja, die Karte(n) hab ich selbst gemalt. Die meisten von euch wissen, dass ich es liebe, jedes Jahr Weihnachtspost für meine Freunde und Familie zu basteln.
PS: Die Post scheint gut beschäftigt zu sein, möglicherweise ist dein Exemplar also noch unterwegs... ;)

a page of one of my favourites books, "The Christmas Tree" by Barbara Segall. The book is a tribute to the Christmas tree, its history and traditions. It's always a magical moment, when the time comes to decorate the tree.

This picture is for the Happy Caturday group and this week the theme is "Colorful".
This really doesn't look very colorful but this is the only picture that I could get of Noah this week. He doesn't like to pose as much as Elijah... at least he sat still for one shot. :)

La catedral del Salvador de Albarracín es un templo cristiano situado en la localidad de Albarracín, provincia de Teruel,
España. Es sede catedralicia de la diócesis de Teruel y Albarracín junto con la catedral de Teruel. Forma parte del Conjunto Histórico-Monumental de la Ciudad de Albarracín.
La catedral se asienta sobre los restos de un antiguo templo románico construido a finales del siglo XII.
El actual edificio empezó a construirse en 1572 y corrió a cargo de los arquitectos Martín de Castañeda y del francés Quinto Pierres Vedel. El primer obispo de la diócesis de Albarracín (independiente de Segorbe) fue Martín de Salvatierra (1578 - 1583).
El edificio se encuentra en el centro de la población, entre cuyo caserío destaca poderosamente. La difícil orografía de Albarracín, asentada en una elevación rodeada por la hoz del río Guadalaviar, influye en la configuración del edificio, cuya planta se organiza en una sola nave con capillas laterales, gran capilla mayor ligeramente más alta con ábside poligonal, coro a los pies, y claustro y otras dependencias alrededor.
El acceso principal al templo se realiza, inusualmente, por la cabecera, a través de una sencilla portada barroca precedida por una escalinata. A principios del siglo XVIII se reformó el interior del templo con elementos barrocos, como las pilastras que se conservan actualmente.
La estructura del templo está formada por una única nave central con bóveda de crucería gótica, flanqueada por pequeñas capillas laterales ubicadas entre los contrafuertes.
En la capilla mayor, de forma poligonal cubierta por bóveda de crucería con nervios combados, destaca el retablo mayor, de estilo renacentista (1566), obra del escultor Cosme Damián Bas, con figuras de santos, escenas de la vida de Jesús y María y un gran relieve central representando la Transfiguración. Las capillas laterales son de dimensiones más reducidas; varias de ellas guardan un relevante patrimonio artístico. La más destacada, por dimensiones y decoración, es la dedicada a la Virgen del Pilar, con un suntuoso retablo barroco, cúpula y ornamentación de estucos en muros y bóveda. En la capilla de san Pedro destaca el retablo, delicado trabajo en madera sin policromar con relieves de la vida del santo titular, atribuido a Gabriel Yoly. La capilla de las Ánimas, y lo que fue su sacristía anexa, exhiben interesantes pinturas murales en grisalla, datadas en el siglo XVI.
El coro, a los pies del templo, se cubre con bóveda de crucería de complicada traza; bellas pinturas murales cubren los muros. La sillería coral es de madera vista y sencillo diseño renacentista, al igual que la estimable reja que cierra este espacio, colocada a mediados del siglo XVI.
En el exterior destaca la torre, de estilo renacentista, con cuatro cuerpos de sección cuadrada, siendo el último de planta octogonal. A los pies de la torre, hacia la plaza, se pueden observar varios sillares romanos reaprovechados.

The Catedral de Albarracín is a Roman Catholic church in the town of Albarracín, province of Teruel, part of the autonomous community of Aragon, Spain.
The cathedral was built from 1572 to 1600, when the bell-tower was complete. Among the architects were Martín de Castañeda, Quinto Pierres Vedel, and Alonso del Barrio de Ajo. The church has a single nave and the ceiling has Gothic tracery. The nave interior and the Chapel of the Virgen del Pilar was redecorated in stucco and gilding in Baroque style.
The main retablo was completed in 1566 by Cosme Damián Bas.
