dieses Foto entstand ca. 5 Sek nach dem absprung, Erkennt man gut da die Füsse noch nicht in Flugposition sind und der ganze Körper Kraft aufwendet um in der Luft zu bleiben ;-)

I went to CHRP again yesterday to search for the long-eared owl. The owl did not show but we were able to find a great horned owl (I will post later). While coming back to the parking lot on Muskrat trail, I saw this kite sitting on the ground (probably tired of diving and not finding a mouse). I waited a few minutes before he started flying towards me.

Nothing better than a Pygmy Owl encounter in the snow.

Nach einer Mahlzeit wurde es gemütlich.... Die Dame nahm sich Zeit um ihr Gefieder zu pflegen...Etwa 10 Minuten konnte ich am Damm sitzen und ihr zuschauen...

I know males are supposed to be better looking but she also looks great with her Mohawk hairstyle! Female Hooded Merganser @LaArboretum a couple of weekends ago in the evening.

Zur Abwechslung mal ein Turmfalke beim Abendbrot... Wildlife... Die Dame ist sehr entspannt...

Hooded Merganser @Baldwin Lake, LA Arboretum. They were just waking up so I did not get any crayfish catching action. Here are a couple of warmup videos:

Lush Winter Coat

A much different look from the summer coats they wear!

Snowy was not happy as a Caspian tern snatched a fish close to his foraging water.

Great Grey Owl from last winter. Such stoic creatures

A Lonely Swan

Taken at one of the many lakes in the area known as Radley Lakes, while I was happily watching the sun go down a soliarity swan swam by.

Clutch Catch

This Great Grey has a tasty snack tight in its clutch.

This American Bald Eagle cruised by with a sense of purpose!

I thought 'less' of this guy based on the size but the nostril looks away from the feather and the bill seems longer. Correct me if I am wrong, it could just be a Greater on a strict diet. Taken at Bay Trail, Mountain View.

This wary fox kit was having a quiet moment away from siblings.

Wood On Wood

The amazing plumage of the wood duck, and clearly he knows it.

Early morning first rays of light catches the Broadway Tower the second highest point in the Cotswolds. There is a Nuclear monitoring bunker now of course no longer used but still equipped as it was back in the cold war days.

Sorry Disney, looks like it is the end of the road for your spokes-cricket.

Very high Iso, but it was great to capture a Great Grey in flight!

Love the intensity of the Northern Harrier Stare

An edit to one of my earlier pictures. It is from the only morning from my recent visit to the Lake District that it didn't rain plus I had a bit of sunshine for at least 5 minutes

At the height of the Rut in Grand Teton National Park, this massive Bull (Shoshone I think) Sniffs the air for a willing partner.

Love the pastel backdrop the wintering trees provided for this eagle. We waited for 20 minutes for this adult to fly, but it was worth it.

I have been tying to get the picture for a while now visited this spot quite a few times while not getting the right conditions. Would have liked a bit more cloud in the sky and a tad more mist so the quest goes on.

This mixed fox kit (grey and red) is taking some time to smell the flowers.

Capo Ferro Lighthouse photographed at blue hour. The surrounding landscape is incredibly beautiful!

LM_naturewild is a way to photograph nature. I like to photograph landscapes and animals. Use nikon equipment and Feisol Tripod

This old bull has been in his share of battles. Watched him fend off two younger rivals.

These birds know how to conserve water! They only get them through their insect diet.

212) Black-Naped Monarch

Black-Naped Monarch, Hypothymis azurea, Kelicap Ranting

The black-naped monarch breeds across tropical southern Asia from India and Sri Lanka east to Indonesia and the Philippines. This species is usually found in thick forests and other well-wooded habitats. The black-naped monarch has short legs and sits very upright whilst perched prominently, like a shrike. It is insectivorous, often hunting by flycatching. When alarmed or alert, the nape feathers are raised into a pointed crest. They will join mixed-species foraging flocks and are active in the understory of the canopy. The breeding season is March to August and the nest is neat cup placed in a fork. The nest is built by the female while the male guards. The typical clutch is of three eggs with both parents incubate and feed the young which hatch after about 12 days.

When approaching the Black Necked Stilts, they did not fly away, rather they came close and flew straight up in the air a few feet, then down. It was then I realized I was bothering them. So I walked away and setup on the shore and didn't move. After a few minutes, they relaxed and began foraging. Even coming close to me for some shots.

What a fluffball of feathers.

Watching the Sun Go Down

This Snowy seems content to watch the sunset. Rainy weather has provided me an opportunity to dig deep in the achives for missed shots.
