It's been a long tradition in our family and our country.
Giving the finger to the authorities and blowing off lots of (allegedly) illegal fireworks to celebrate the birth of our republic.
Using cheap pyrotechnics made with slave labor in a communist country to celebrate American Independence!

It's been an intense week...
The markets have been exceptionally good to me.
I got my head outta my ass and I'm makin' some dough again.
Tryin' not to sell my soul to do it.
I want a freakin' Sailboat and a cabin in the mountains.
I'm going to make that happen.
I've really been feelin' the love.
Bought a new car... and wrote a check for it.
No payments.
That feels good.
Letting my twelve year old daughter negotiate the whole deal was a blast.
I gotta say the Universe has been good to me this week.
I'm grateful for it.
When I saw this gorgeous woman I instantly fell in love.
With those bacon Long Johns.
I love bacon.

I moved two hours away to where I live now, about four years ago. I had no family or friends and once I quit work to have my daughter, I didn't even have co-workers. Luckily, my neighbors are completely awesome. I have met so many people on the lake and keep meeting more all the time. It's like a family and we are all so close. I can call on any one of my neighborhood friends and know that they'll be willing and ready to help, have some fun or just chat. I am still young, but I can already say that I have found where I want to be for the rest of my life.
This photo was taken by my hubby and I'm glad he captured some love in a photo.
We made it through another one.
It wasn't too tough bein' a four day week and all.

I went to bed last night tasting the weekend I swear to gahd.
Another crazy ass week behind me.
Answer me one question.
Why people gotta be so crazy?
I mean there's 'hold my beer and watch this' crazy...
and then there's 'bat shit nutty crazy.'
Usually my weeks are full of the 'bat shit nutty' variety and my weekends are predominated by the 'hold my beer and watch this' variety.
I'm happy with that action.

I gotta shake this endless litigation I been goin' through so I can buy myself a frickin' sailboat.

I am the world's luckiest guy.
We've all gone through some shit...
and every one of us has at some point dreamed of a 'new life.'
I've had that dream come true.
I hope all of your dreams came true this weekend.
Life's an amazing thing.
You never know where it's gonna take you.
I had no idea that I'd be shooting Jim James from the front row Saturday night.
Because I had no idea that Terri Hemmert would be giving me two tickets to his concert at the Vic Theater.
Which helped me get into the Vic with two of my cameras.
I'm in love with this new life.
I could feel the love.
We're all on the same journey.
There's a long papertrail to prove my nature as a criminal.
And to demonstrate my anti-authoritarian stances on many facets of this American life that we live.
I've been arrested for lots of things.
When I look back on all of the times I've been arrested it's generally for my lack of respect for authority.
It's been a lifelong thing.
Judge me as you will...
say what you want...
but on the day we celebrate the birth of our nation and the declaration of our independence...
well...
I am proud and honored to be arrested by the powers that be in order to demonstrate that I still remember what once made this country great.
America was born a nation of outlaws and I cherish the memory of those ne'erdowells that came before me and sacrificed so much for our freedoms.
On the birthday of our nation I will always be one to remember what used to be 'The Land of the Free.'

I went to the Chicago Photographic Society's meeting last night at Calumet Camera on Goose Island and listened to photographer Kevin Weinstein talk about his adventures and misadventures in wedding photography.
I popped Kevin while he was talking about the difficulty of taking people's pictures without having them pose.
I like to think that I helped him to illustrate his point.
Gahd it's Friday.
I don't know about you but I'm definitely feelin' the Friday-Love!
I got some killer plans this weekend.
I'm gonna go to C2E2 with the girls and take some cool pictures.

I never figured that I'd be a single dad to three very amazing girls.
It's all God's fault I know it.
When I was in college... in one of the few times that I prayed without death or disaster being imminent I asked God to 'surround me with beautiful women.'
I figured what the heck... I got nothin' to lose.
Years later I came to understand God's sense of humor.
Prolly should get a lawyer before praying if you know what I mean.
Every single parent can tell you all about the trials and the challenges of raising kids by themselves.
You know what... you always worry that you're not doing good enough.
I walked into the kitchen the other day and my daughter had a deck of cards spread out on the table.
A friend of hers was going through some tough times.
My daughter took a Sharpie permanent marker and wrote something nice on each of the cards in the pack and gave them to her friend as a gift.
I was touched.
These are the moments you strive for as a parent.
The ones that tell you everything's gonna be alright.
That somehow you got the important stuff through.
I love those girls with all of my heart and my soul and my entire being.
Moments like this make me so proud.
they know that the ACE man has some health issues and can't get out and clear the snow away himself...
so after every snowfall they come with blowers in hand to make sure it's done right..
and of course they don't want and won't accept anything in exchange for their hardwork
