On the boardwalk above the sand

are voices and songs from every land

I just finished listening to Everything That Remains, by Joshua Fields Millburn & Ryan Nicodemus. It's about living a minimalistic life. Let me tell you I was inspired!! This book has already got me making changes in my life and there will be more to come. Really I feel as if I don't have time to take proper photos with my DSLR and document my 365 project. Why not? Because I am too busy doing other things that are more "important". This is what I love to do, so how has it happened that I can't allow myself the time to enjoy it?

I had to work late tonight because we just kicked off a major acquisition. I was home 2 hours later than normal, but my husband kept my son up so I could say hi and get some hugs and kisses before he went to bed, then after eating dinner (which my husband made) I asked for his help and we headed out to take a photo. Now here I am uploading and writing.

I have been inspired by a variety of things over the past few years that all seemed to be leading me to an exciting new point and journey in my life.

I don' t want to divulge it all right now, but it will all come out on it's own time.

For now, here is an icicle that is over 4 feet long hanging off the corner of my house. We had a lot of large ones that fell today so I was happy to be able to capture this one before it's demise.

Union with God is not something we acquire by a technique but the grounding truth of our lives that engenders the very search for God. Because God is the ground of our being, the relationship between creature and Creator is such that, by sheer grace, separation is not possible. God does not know how to be absent. The fact that most of us experience throughout most of our lives a sense of absence or distance from God is the great illusion that we are caught up in; it is the human condition. The sense of separation from God is real, but the meeting of stillness reveals that this perceived separation does not have the last word. This illusion of separation is generated by the mind and is sustained by the riveting of our attention to the interior soap opera, the constant chatter of the cocktail party going on in our heads.-Into the Silent Land: A Guide to the Christian Practice of Contemplation by Martin Laird
