This was to be the cover of the 7" my late high school band, Lockstep, was to put out on ebullition and a local label. The local label lost its money before the record was released, so the only public sonic proof of our existence is a split 7" with another Indianapolis band named Jaquay (on Bloomington-based Diffusion Records). The guy in the picture is Ben Adrian, the lead singer and other guitarist.

Plywood + c-clamps = mini book presses

During my morning run, I watched a sparrow become increasingly frustrated by its uncooperative breakfast.

The scene reminded me of the challenge of feedback loops in systems, as discussed by Donella Meadows in Thinking in Systems.

The difficulty of feedback lags and subsequent overshoot adjustments was beautifully demonstrated in this graceful dance. The pattern went on for so long that they flew out of my field of vision.

Paper wraps were made to include my barcode on the book for distribution. I designed them to coordinate with the book design, provide the buyer with a brief overview of the project and the materials used, and have a secondary purpose as a bookmark.
