An interesting zoned bracket that I came across the other day. It's in the order, Poriales and the family is Coriolaceae. It has very distinctive labyrinthine pores.

This is a view of the asci and ascospores of a corticilous fungus viewed down the eyepiece of a compound microscope.
We've been cooped up inside for too long due to extremely nasty weather. It felt great to get outside today, especially since the sun was out. While it was only in the 20's, we became quite warm after a while. Snowshoeing is such great cardio!

February 13, 2010. At the Mavericks Surf Competition, two huge waves hit the beach, knocking dozens of spectators off their feet, causing several injuries, toppling booths, unnerving many (like myself) and sent some unfortunate souls swaying in the water, while numerous boxes of equipment were swallowed up--all in a few seconds.
