Teen kids on Facebook know this trick already. If you want your friends to notice a picture you posted, just tag a truck load of them even if they don’t appear in the picture.
If you are posting a picture with other brands, pages or interests appearing in it, just go ahead and tag.
For example, the picture below on Overdrive Magazine’s Page has a Renault Twizy in it with Ibiza in the background. That’s at least three pages that can be tagged. What it does is, it gets the other Page owners to notice what you posted and they may share your content if they find it interesting, thereby getting your content to go viral and add more fans to the page.
The trick is to not overdo it though. Else, it would become annoying for Page Owners.
Posting to a Facebook Page is the same as starting a conversation. If your fans respond with Likes and comments to your post, you should keep the conversation flowing, until the feedback stops. Otherwise, it is the equivalent of suddenly clamming up in the middle of a conversation that you started yourself!
Participating in conversations is the key to retaining fans’ interest. If you ignore the fan activity completely, you are just pushing your engagement away.
Vadilal Ice creams Page sets a great example of participating in conversations, managing to personalize their communication and giving a message to the fans that the brand is willing to listen to them
We’ve featured Ted Dekker’s Page on May 09, but we aren’t done raving about it yet!
The clever play of content sets Ted Dekker’s Page aside and makes it an interesting case study for best practices on Facebook.
Notice the pattern on his Page – When Ted wants just LIKEs for his posts, he asks for it specifically. Sure, that sounds a little un corporate-ish and won’t work in all situations. “Press LIKE if you think the stock markets are falling because of the French election results”!! But the best way to get Fans to acknowledge is to ask them to ‘LIKE’.
And when Ted needs comments, not just LIKEs, he asks leading questions with a blank that needs to be filled up.
Notice the difference:
the post which asked for LIKEs got 7,479 likes and just 232 comments
The post with the ‘__________’ got 2,281 comments and just 171 likes.
Moral of the story: if you want something from your fans, tune your content accordingly!
