Sundew (Drosera auriculata)
I went back to look for the Sundew today and not only were they still doing well, they were soaked with raindrops from the big rains we’ve had in the last few days. They're very small and would easily be missed by most, but I knew where a clump of them was growing. Sundew are carnivorous plants that derive some or most of their nutrients by trapping and consuming animals such as insects or other arthropods. In New Zealand we have Drosera (sundews) - seven native species - and Utricularia (bladderworts) - three native species ❤️

Hibiscus diversifolius
Common name: native hibiscus, swamp hibiscus, prickly hibiscus
These plants are so interesting. The bud grows and eventually opens to allow the flower to bloom. The flower lasts for about a day, then dies and drops away. The bud remains and closes up again. After a few weeks it reopens to reveal a black seed pod in four segments with little ball-shaped seeds. The seeds eventually drop to the ground as the wind blows the plant around.

Achillea Millefolium is native to Eurasia. Also known as Bad Man's Plaything, Devil's Nettle, Nosebleed and Old Man's Pepper.
Originally brought from Europe to be planted in herb gardens, it has reputation for healing wounds among other medicinal uses. People love to plant them in English cottage-style gardens, from which it has escaped.
It is regarded by some to be the most concerning environmental weed in the Australian Alps.
