We had just arrived at Denver Botanic Gardens when this little one appeared, followed by two others chasing each other. My camera was set for flowers, not birds so I wasn't prepared but I was tickled to see this on my computer. "I Could Have Danced All Night" is a song from the musical My Fair Lady, with music written by Frederick Loewe and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, published in 1956.

Compositionally Challenged Week 36 - My Favorite Things

1. Hummingbirds - sorry for the repeat favorite thing! I have to take advantage of the short season that we have them.

2. Denver Botanic Gardens - It's probably a good thing we live 40 minutes away, I would never get anything else done, lol.

3. Favorite movie and song - I remember my mother taking me to see the movie at the fancy theater in downtown Denver. I was probably 8 or 9 years old. I loved the movie, and became a lifelong fan of Audrey Hepburn. : )

Two of my very favorite things...any time of the year!

ODC - SHOWCASE A FAVORITE THING is the challenge for TUESday 26h April 2021

CAMERA, TRIPOD, SUITCASE, JEANS, CONVERSES, DAISIES, FLOWERS, POSTCARDS, VERSACE PERFUME, MY BEIGECSWEATER , BEIGE BLOUSE , FLOWERY DRESS, JEWELERY AND OLD BOXES

I intend to post more photos from my trip to Savannah; however, these days my attention is more on present delights than on past ones. Each spring, I eagerly await the return of the chipmunks. I greeted the first one that I saw this year with a happy, "Hello there!" The chipmunk responded by running off into a corner of the garage. It took a while, but I finally lured it out with sunflower seeds. Now, there are at least three that come running up to me for peanuts and sunflower seeds whenever they see me. (They have also surprised visitors by running up to them!) Chipmunks are definitely up there on my list of favorite things!

I've posted shots of Mount Shasta from this location several times over the years, everytime a totally different look. This was just before dusk, didn't have time to wait for the sun to set, so instead I used a pretty slow shutter, well as slow as I dared without my tripod. Wanted to capture the foreground, not have it be silhouetted. Love the dynamic range of this camera and the great in camera stabilization.

Stopped in Ashland Oregon tonight with less than 300 miles to drive tomorrow. Unfortunately my delivery in Portland isn't until 11 PM. The good news for me is I'll have several hours of free time to spend uninterrupted on Flickr.

Niw here's a Mount Shasta shot I posted in May of 2016 with some pretty sunset colors and clouds. I didn't plan it, but both compositions are almost the same.

- Visiting the nearby butterfly house, which I haven't done in far too long. Today's trip was a real treat!

Thank you in advance for your views, comments, and faves. They are much appreciated!

This snowman is actually shaped like a star. His head being the five point.

What I like about Rena is how smart and how odd she is. For Example: she doesn't meow, doesn't purr or knead, doesn't like being up high and sleeps on the floor, has never knocked anything over, doesn't eat any people food, doesn't care for boxes. She lets me sleep as long as I want without waking me, snuggles when she wants and never has to be told anything twice. She seems like a wild little visitor who has captured our hearts.

She loves posing for the camera which we know Benni Girl taught her.

Autumn has just arrived and now I get to see one of my favorite things of a calm morning on the water; a leaf gently touching down.

A squirrel for Bat and a housecoat for Maggie for this Saturday morning. Both Maggie and Bat love squirrels, chipmunks, and birds: they are rare here at our new place.

I have a photoshoot this morning, but will be back this afternoon to check out your streams! Happy Sunday everyone.

Today I got a box from the relatives. Box came with alot of pots and pans, some 10-piece non stick set. I think they're trying to tell me to learn how to cook. But I don't know a thing about cooking, so yeah, I can only take pictures of some. lol Must take better pictures of me. I can't make decent shot inside the house. i need better lights.

for FF, favorite things: surprise gifts. I love getting gifts, especially ones given when you least expect it.

for TOTW-unfamiliar places: the kitchen. not really where i usually go to take pics of me cos there's usually nothing there. lol

Could there be anything more ordinary (and boring) than my answers? LOL!

Liina and I went downtown with my best friend Scot tonight. This is a bit grainy, so i added the black strips to give it a bit more of a film-look to it. i love the way it turned out, and i think it's funny that Scot doesn't find himself to be a photogenic person....

he's rad :) and he's one of my favorite things too :)

I wish I had a green thumb to grow a beautiful orchid like this.

My doggins top the list - this is Chase, my oldest little mutt that has been the sweetest, smartest dog I've ever known. She loves people, food, and frisbee, but is getting older now. She's the most excellent cuddler. 3/52

I live in a suburb of Raleigh, North Carolina which is the state capitol. Each year in mid-October the State Fair happens for a week at the fairgrounds. Each evening right before the closing of the fair there is a fantastic fireworks display. I'm so fortunate to be able to see these beautiful displays each evening during State Fair week. Fireworks have always been one of my favorite things. It's so much fun to photograph them as the displays and colors are so fantastic.

Of all my material possessions, this is my favorite. It is a walking or traveling Buddah.... I got it at a small shop in Singapore...it was in a back room with lots of other artifacts. It was covered with grime and dirt and they needed to clean it up before I could take it home...The fellow thought it was originally Burmese or Thai... He has had a place of honor in my home ever since... :-)

My husband the craftsman made me this for my 30th birthday last year. I didn't end up getting it until about 6 months after it because he never thought it was good enough. Obviously I adore it. It's a heart shaped jewelry box that he carved out of one piece of wood for the body. The top part was a special kind of wood that has those lines in it that look like ink. I adore this gift, maybe the best gift anyone has even given me.

You can see a more clear shot here.

i was excited about this challenge...

i actually considered shooting a picture of my husband :) isn't that nice?

well, that fell through quickly and i grabbed something else that's a favorite of mine - my watercolors.

watercolors are amazing to me because they're fast and effortless. it's ironic because i'm actually a detailed person but i cannot paint in details - maybe painting is my freedom away from details?

i've uploaded a picture of one of my latest paintings - it's nothing original but a character that we all know and love.

enjoy!

our daily challenge: a favorite thing

Hibernation season is soon upon us. Time to gather all of my favorite things and settle in for the long winter's nap.

"Teach us delight in simple things." ~ Rudyard Kipling

We don't need money or fancy toys to have a good time. The world is full of things that can delight us -- the sound of a spring robin, the scent of a flower, the smile on a child's face or the hum of bees as they visit our gardens.

What are a few simple things that bring joy to YOUR life?

THANK YOU FRIENDS for your continual support of my photography, your visits to my photos, your lovely comments, faving my work ....but most of all for your enduring friendship.

P.S. Anna is well today and back to school. Thank you to all who sent "get well wishes" to our family! ♥
