The older section of this hotel, with jig-cut brackets and balustrade, was built in 1880. Additional facilities were constructed in 1894, seven years after the coming of the railroad to Comfort. Both sections of the inn were designed by Alfred Giles of San Antonio. Members of the Peter Ingenhuett family operated the hotel until about 1903, it was owned and managed by Louis and Matilda Faust from 1909 until 1946. (1985) (Marker No. 2646)

The performance fuses animation, mixed media, and physical theatre to retell the tragic story of Doctor Faustus the notorious philosopher and reputed magician and necromancer.

The Schlueter Barn at Faust Historic Village in Chesterfield, Mo. William Schlueter bought a 40-acre farm in 1853 in what is now St. Louis County and then in 1868 bought an additional acre to allow room for him to build this bar. It was donated to the county and moved to Faust Park in the late 1980s.
