This is the Boise River and at this point it's running through,
well, Boise, Idaho. I think this 'water feature' is man made but I can't see a reason as to why, except perhaps to provide a pool of water for fish, etc during low water levels in late summer. Further downriver but still within Boise, the city installed gates on the river that they use to create 'waves' that people can surf and kayak. (DSC_5635.jpg)
CP 470 was running with some noteworthy power which was enough motivation to do something about it. With a nice ex-ICE snoot SD40-2 leading 2 repainted RCPE motors, the curve at Howard was an easy location to wait for it to arrive.
High sun was fast approaching, but in a land of Crusty Beavers and GEVOs, every once in a while a diamond shines through the turds.
Land, Grab, and Go - If you're lucky and ready, you may capture the moment, but Great Tits are very quick!

Thanks for stopping by my photostream today - much appreciated.
These tiny blossoms are less than an inch. Needless to say not much nectar in each flower so the butterflies were in and out pretty quick! (Unsure of ID)
Though this was the result of my handheld panning, I can guarantee you that paces are fast for almost everything in Japan.

That's the feeling I had this morning on the Belchenflue in Basel-Country. Before the sun came up I mainly was surrounded by fog, but luckily it went a bit lower just in time. Standing a couple of meters over the fast drifting clouds made me feel like flying through the sky. A fantastic morning in a wonderful country. :-)
Union Pacific ‘high speed’ SD40-2s No. 8073, 8063, 8041, and 8070 find themselves pulling a low priority, slow moving train through Grant Tower in Salt Lake City, Utah on Jan. 28, 1978. 100 UP SD40-2 units were geared to operate at 80 mph speeds on priority intermodal trains. They were typically sandwiched between two DDA40X units, also geared for 80 mph operation.

There were several Latham's Snipe in the area that kept migrating from one set of ponds to another. Unfortunately they were quite a long way away and traveling quickly.
