The Angel of the North sculpture situated next to the A1 at Gateshead, Tyne & Wear in the north east of England. I went there last August during a 'farewell tour' of the north to say goodbye to family before we left for France. I previously had a few photos of the Angel on my photostream but along with many other photos, I inadvertently deleted them and was unable to retrieve them. Hopefully, this is adequate recompense for their disappearance into the ether. :-)
In March 1998 NS said farewell to the 1200 class engines with a gathering at Geldermalsen.
Found this slide in a box with rejected slides, but it looks quite good actually.
Op 19 november namen de Nederlandse Spoorwegen in samenwerking met de NVBS afscheid van de locserie 1700 met een grote rondrit door Nederland. Voor deze rit werden de 1750 en de 1761 gewassen en met afscheidsstickers beplakt. Op de DB-rijtuigenstam die gebruikt werd voor de rit werden evens stickers aangebracht voor de afscheidsrit. De trein reed vanuit Amersfoort via Zwolle, Deventer, Arnhem, Tilburg naar Rotterdam Stadion waar diverse Nez-Cassé's stonden opgesteld voor publiek. Daarna voerde de rit via Rotterdam Centraal, Den Haag HS naar Utrecht Centraal waar kopgemaakt werd voor het laatste stuk naar Amersfoort Cetraal.
Met treinnummer 10117 passeert de brandschone 1761 met ICB-stam 7708 en achterop de 1750 het dorp Rhenen onderweg naar Arnhem Centraal
Na Rheden was het voor mezelf een kwestie van tijd opvullen tot aan de avondplaten, dus werd er gewoon wat achter die trein aan gereden om te kijken of er op de diverse stations langs de route iets van een plaatje mogelijk was, ondanks de verwachte drukte met andere liefhebbers.
Op het station van Tilburg met de markante overkapping werd gekeken of daar een plaatje mogelijk was met de geplande fotostop. Tijdens aankomst van de trein stond iedereen al op verschillende fotolijnen kriskras door elkaar heen en ook veel te ver naar voren dat een fatsoenlijke foto met de kap niet echt mogelijk was. Met de hele groep aan NVBS'ers erbij en het is al helemaal een georganiseerde drukte. Dus werd afgewacht tot de grote menigte vertrokken was naar de trein en weg van het perron om tijdens het vertrek een leuk plaatje te schieten. Hier was het gelukkig dusdanig rustig dat er door middel van Photoshop wel wat mensen weg te shoppen waren. Ook moest er door de aanwezigheid van de zon een klein beetje schaduw van de Abri op de loc weggehaald worden. Al met al is het naar mijn mening geen slecht resultaat na wat werk in Photoshop. Het feit dat beide perrons vrij zijn van volk maakt al een hoop verschil.
Het is 14:18 als de afscheidsrit met de 1761 op kop en achterop de 1750 vanaf station Tilburg naar Rotterdam Stadion vertrekt.
Na de foto in Amersfoort volgde nog de absolute afsluiter van de dag na een zeer geslaagd afscheidsrit dwars door Nederland, namelijk een avondfoto op Amsterdam Centraal samen met het verlichte gevleugelde wiel aan de westzijde van de grote perronkap.
Rond 19:50 kwam de NSI 1750 met DB IC-stam 7708 met treinnummer 70119 binnengerold op spoor 7 op Amsterdam Centraal en de machinist zette de trein netjes buiten de kap stil tot opluchting van de hobbyisten die nog tot zo laat aanwezig waren in de hoofdstad en hoopte dat een plaatje met dit toch wel iconisch object bovenop de grote perronkap van Amsterdam Centraal. Tot even voor 20:00 bleef de trein wachten voor het laatste stuk naar het tamelijk nieuwe opstelterrein in de Westhavens. De 1761, die op deze dag de meeste kilometers van de twee machines heeft afgelegd, liep koud in opzending mee achterop de trein.
Na Tilburg werd na een extra in Schiedam Centrum doorgereisd naar Utrecht Centraal waar de afscheidsrit ging kopmaken. Bij aankomst reed de machinist al helemaal tot het einde van het perron en werd er ook gelijk afgebouwd, dus werd direct naar de andere kant van de trein verplaatst waar enkele minuten later de NSI 1750, die al de hele rit koud in opzending meereed, opgebouwd voor het laatste stuk richting Amersfoort.
Er werd weer rustig afgewacht totdat het weer een flink stuk rustiger was en zo kon om 17:09 de foto gemaakt worden waarop de NSI 1750 op spoor 9 op Utrecht Centraal klaar staat om met treinnummer 10118 te vertrekken naar Amersfoort Centraal.
18 Januari 2020 - Omdat het Britse Direct Rail Services de Class20's aan de kant begon te zetten, werd er een populaire Farewell Tour door Pathfinder Tours opgezet. De Farewell Tours in Engeland zijn altijd uitverkocht en vele tientallen fotografen op de been.
Wij gingen voor deze trein op vrijdagavond 17 januari met de boot van Rotterdam-Europoort naar Hull, zodat wij op zaterdagochtend op tijd langs de lijn konden staan voor deze trein. Zouden gezien de zonstand maar 2 klikjes worden, maar prima toch?
De trein reed van Bristol naar York, alwaar de Class57's werden vervangen door Class20's voor de rit naar Leeds, en later terug naar York. De trein bestond uit 13 rijtuigen en was volledig uitverkocht.
Bij Poppleton waren wij niet de enige, gezien vrijwel de enige stek goed voor de zon. Met een man of 100, misschien zelfs nog veel meer want het werd in de laatste minuten steeds drukker, kon de trein vereeuwigd worden.

A farewell to HST operation at Grand Central the tour took the HST's to some unusual locations such as Sheffield and some rather rare track.
Na het fotograferen van de SHD trein verplaatsten we naar spoor 2 om aan het eind van het perron te wachten, totdat de machinist de 1761 ging opbouwen. Na bijna een halfuur in de regen gewacht te hebben stapte de machinist in de cabine van de 1761, wisselde van sluit- naar frontseinen en bouwde de loc op. Tot grote blijdschap van de fotografen die al een hele poos in de regen aan het wachten waren om een foto te kunnen maken.
Om 17:19 kon de trein onder toezicht van een grote groep fotografen op de foto gezet worden.

A pristine painted (original livery) Inter-City 125 ‘Northern Light’ roars through Insch station on the first leg of the Class 43 LNER Farewell Tour 2019, with nary a whistle, but it was worth the effort! The 125’s never ran as a scheduled service North of Aberdeen, but Scotrail have bought numerous GWR hand me downs, some of which can be found operating between Aberdeen and Inverness.

London Underground said goodbye to the District Line D stock with a special tour which ran on Sunday 7th May 2017. The tour ran over the entire route where the D stock fleet spent their entire working life, and also made a trip to Northfields, a location where they occasionally found themselves.

The 11G and 12G tram series will be taken out of service at the beginning of 2021 and the removal to the scrap yard of this tram type has been going on for weeks now. Farewell rides were organized on Saturday 18 September. Six trams that were left (two of which will become museum trams) drove for the last time through the streets of Amsterdam to Diemen Sniep, Sloterdijk, Osdorp, VU Medical Center, Olympiaweg and Amstelstation. I had little time this day but time enough to follow part of the Farewell tour. Participating trams this day were: 904 - 914 - 917 - 919* - 822 - 820* (*: future Museumtrams)
Here the 11G trams 914 and 904 on the Amstelstation. for a last photoshoot for me before they will be distroyed.
This 904 bi-directional tram of the series 901-920 intended for line 5 because of the only dead end terminus in the Amsterdam network (Amstelveen Stadshart) has been delivered to the GVB on 08/03/1990 and first put into service on 15/10/1990 (line 5).

In mijn vorige foto van afgelopen vrijdag noemde ik de afscheidsrit van de NS locomotieven serie 1700 die vandaag plaatsvond. En dat er in de vorm van een Oerlikon-remkraan altijd een goede reden zit om dit thema toch op te nemen in deze (vooralsnog) op Zwitsers spoor gerichte flickr-site.
Omdat dit weekend geen IC Berlijntreinen konden rijden tussen Amersfoort en Bad Bentheim, was er een rijtuigstam beschikbaar voor de afscheidsrit van de 1700-serie. Ook werd deze rit gebruikt om afscheid te nemen van het DB Bordbistro-rijtuig, dat vanaf de wisseling van de dienstregeling in december niet meer ingezet zal worden door DB Fernverkehr. Op zowel de locomotieven als het Bordbistrorijtuig (en het laatste rijtuig) waren teksten aangebracht om hierop de aandacht te vestigen.
Op de foto naderde de afscheidsrit halte Utrecht Leidsche Rijn in vrijwel het laatste licht van de dag. Na kopmaken op Utrecht Centraal zou de trein terugkeren naar Amersfoort waar het officiële afscheid plaatsvond.

In meinem vorherigen Foto vom letzten Freitag habe ich die heute stattgefundene Abschiedsfahrt der NS-Lokomotiven der Baureihe 1700 erwähnt. Und dass es in Form einer Oerlikon-Bremssteuerung immer einen guten Grund gibt, dieses Thema in diese (vorerst) auf die Schweizer Eisenbahn ausgerichtete Flickr-Seite aufzunehmen.
Da an diesem Wochenende keine IC-Berlin-Züge zwischen Amersfoort und Bad Bentheim verkehren konnten, stand für die Abschiedsfahrt der Baureihe 1700 ein IC Berlin Wagenreihe zur Verfügung. Diese Fahrt diente auch der Verabschiedung des Bordbistrowagens der DB, der nach dem Fahrplanwechsel im Dezember nicht mehr von DB Fernverkehr eingesetzt wird. Um darauf aufmerksam zu machen, wurden sowohl auf den Lokomotiven als auch auf dem Bordbistro-Wagen (und dem letzten Wagen) Texte angebracht.
Auf dem Foto näherte sich die Abschiedsfahrt der Haltestelle Utrecht Leidsche Rijn fast im letzten Licht des Tages. Nach der Fahrt nach Utrecht Central kehrte der Zug nach Amersfoort zurück, wo die offizielle Verabschiedung stattfand.

In my previous photo from last Friday I mentioned the farewell run of the NS locomotives series 1700 that took place today. And that there is always a good reason in the form of an Oerlikon brake valve to include this theme in this (for the time being) Swiss railway-oriented flickr site.
Because no IC Berlin trains could run between Amersfoort and Bad Bentheim this weekend, cars were available for the farewell tour of the 1700 series. This tour was also used to say goodbye to the DB Bordbistro cars, which will no longer be used by DB Fernverkehr after the timetable change in December. Texts were placed on both the locomotives and the Bordbistro car (and the last car) to draw attention to this.
In the photo, the farewell ride approached the Utrecht Leidsche Rijn stop in almost the last light of the day. After heading to Utrecht Central, the train would return to Amersfoort where the official farewell took place.

ZE700 British Aerospace 146 CC.2 of the Queen's Flight Royal Air Force on her final flight during a flypast at Warton 17/3/22.
The aircraft was captured on her last ever flight , the route was Northolt-Prestwick-Warton-Brize Norton-St Athan.
On landing the aircraft was handed over to officials of the South Wales Aviation Museum at St Athan where it will be displayed for all to see for years to come.

Saturday January 13th 2001 and Dublin Bus bid farewell to its once 330+ strong Bombardier KD fleet. A special journey was organised and Donnybrook garage based KD353 was the final KD in service.
Slightly less than one month earlier on December 15th 2000 Summerhill based KD284 operated the final 'normal' journey on route 16 in a very low key fashion. KD353 as pictured here was kept for the farewell tour on January 13th.
Driving KD353 on the day was veteran Donnybrook driver Eddie Murphy seen here at the wheel as the bus completed its final journey on route 11. The terminus , and the end of Dublin Bus Bombardier double deckers just yards away.
