91013 "Michael Faraday" heads north at Colton Bridge running "blunt end first" with 1N06 16:30 Kings Cross to Edinburgh. 29/6/95. It was quite unusual to see Class 91s running in this formation in passenger service - usually meaning there was a some sort of fault between the loco and coaches, precluding nose-first running. For that reason, I'm quite happy to have this shot, which I'd totally forgotten about taking. Additionally the vegetation had yet to shoot up at this spot, meaning that a west-side shot was available in the late afternoon. This angle is long-gone now.

Got a first pass at a bridge tower made. Messing around with colors again. The only part I haven’t figured out is the belly. I’d like to add a hangar large enough for 1 dropship but then the sensor array has nowhere to go.

Yeah!

This is my little cat, some months ago! I didn't shoot this, although I "made" him jump, but the pic is not mine, so I am totally cheating this week, but as soon as Luis showed me this image I wanted to post it for this week's Faraday shot! I think it deserves to be on his album!

When he was little we had a game, we both lie on the grass and then, suddenly run trough the other and when close, simply jump!!!

JUMP!

.faraday - titel6

Grade II listed sculpture completed 1961, designed by the celebrated Brutalist architect Rodney Gordon (1933-2008). Clad with stainless-steel dished panels and appearing to be suspended from a core yoke, alluding to Michael Faraday's discoveries in electromagnetic induction. Appropriately, the sculpture actually does house a transformer for electrical supply to the Northern Line. Elephant & Castle, London Borough of Southwark.

Faraday Road Underpass flooded at night

You’ve been there standing in a big metal elevator. Some guy yelling into his phone “I’m not arguing that!!” The doors shut and his conversation is cut. He gets apoplectic “hey what the hell?” He glares at you. Doors open. You turn and say “Faraday cage” and hit the basement button.

We have driven Lower Faraday Road between Coe Hill and Bancroft a few times. We especially try to drive it when we are nearby during autumn. We were travelling in the opposite direction at the time when I had a vague recollection that there was a nice photo waiting behind me, so I got out and sure enough there was. It's an odd experience for me to be right, especially when it comes to memory. :)

I tried the Next Flickr a little bit yesterday. I like the fact that it will show EXIF data, but I prefer this look. Those who are still pining for the former Flickr will likely be even more upset. Oh well, it is free.

I also wonder how many notifications I will get today of new followers. Oddly enough, most never bother to comment. I find that hard to understand, but that's how it is.

Finally done designing this thing too. No plans currently to build this in the real. Maybe later. I feel like I have bought way too many green bricks...

Faraday Close, Worthing, 12th February 2016.

Brunner Mond Ltd who owned the Lostock Soda Ash Works had three of these Ruston & Hornsby type 165DE locomotives on site for shunting although by 1994 only two were operational as the third named 'Kelvin' (RH 402807/1957) was used as a source of spares. Here 'Rutherford' (RH 412710/1957) and 'Faraday' (RH 402803/1957) are seen outside the locomotive shed at the Lostock Works. Both locomotives were delivered new in 1957 to the Brunner Mond Ltd Middlewich Alkali Works but 'Rutherford' was transferred in 1959 to the companies nearby Winnington Soda Ash Works Then when the Middlewich plant closed in 1962 'Faraday' moved to Winnington as well. The Brunner Mond loco fleet based at Winnington was deemed to be a common user fleet so their locomotives were also used at Wallerscote which was rail connected to Winnington internally. The same was true of Lostock Works east of Northwich but this site had no internal link with the other two and would require locomotives to be moved by road or via British Rail lines under special authority.

Lower Faraday Road from Coe Hill to near Bancroft is a very rural, backwoodsy sort of road. This looks like it was once a schoolhouse before becoming an unused and derelict community centre.

Thanks and apologies to red stiletto for the idea of employing a diptych to pair up shots. I am shameless when it comes to stealing ideas, but don't blame me too harshly because I have no original thoughts of my own. lol
