Did you know you can write your own lyrics to your favorite song? You don't have to sing the original lyrics. You can make that song your very own!
THE PRIZE
The Lyrics Prize in the amount of L$50,000 will be awarded to the resident of Second Life who writes the best new lyrics to any one of the 12 popular songs listed below.
Second prize will be L$25,000 and third prize will be L$10,000. The best lyrics for the remaining songs will receive honorable mention prizes of L$2,000 each. (see FAQ below)
THE CONTEST
Below is the list of songs for which lyrics may be submitted. The DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS SUNDAY, JULY 24, 2022.
Contestants may submit new lyrics for one or more of the songs. Lyrics must be on a notecard sent to Haiku Quan. One song per notecard.
Each notecard must contain
1) the contestant's name
2) the name of the song below for which the new lyrics are written and
3) the new lyrics.
The lyrics should compliment the mood of the melody, and they should fit the beat of the melody so they can be easily sung to it. The new lyrics do not have to have the same number of verses or choruses as the original lyrics. The lyrics can be in any language. (see FAQ below)

THE AWARDS CEREMONY
The awards ceremony will be held on August 6, 2022 at 2:00 PM SLT at AKIPELAGO when Max Kleene will sing all 12 songs with the winning lyrics. WINNERS NEED NOT BE PRESENT. A recording of the performance will be posted online, and the best lyrics will be included in a free book available to everyone. Contestants may opt out of being recorded or published. (see FAQ below)

1. Who are the judges?
There is only one judge: Haiku Quan.
2. Can Haiku's friends enter the contest?
Yes, but they cannot win a prize. (If a friend submits lyrics as good as one of the winners, they will receive an award equal to what that winner received.)
3. Can you win more than one prize?
Each song will have only one winner. First, second and third prizes will be awarded to three different people, but the remaining contestants are eligible for one or more of the honorable mention prizes.
4. Won't these new lyrics violate the copyright of the original songwriter?

5. Can the contestant keep the copyright to the new lyrics?
Yes, by adding (c) to the lyrics. Or contestants can add (CC0) (ie. C+C+zero) to release the lyrics to the public domain. creativecommons.org/about/cclicenses/
6. How will you evaluate non-English lyrics?
As best I can. I will get translations of non-English lyrics from as many sources as I can, including the contestant.
7. Can a winner receive cash instead of Lindens?
Yes. An equivalent amount of cash in the contestant's preferred currency can be transferred to a winner via PayPal.
8. How can I receive more information?

O Club Mau Mau recebe a sétima noite QUERIDOS ANOS 80 no sábado, dia 28 de Julho, naquela que será mais uma celebração dos sons que fizeram a década dourada da pop.
«Resolvi fazer um questionário sobre a festa, de modo a que nada fique por saber sobre a melhor noite do Porto. Diz que é uma espécie de FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions):
1. Onde fica o Club Mau Mau?
O Club Mau Mau fica na Rua do Outeiro, que, por sua vez, se situa ao fundo da Rua da Restauração, do lado direito, mesmo a chegar ao rio Douro. É muito fácil lá chegar. Sair de lá é que pode tornar-se difícil, dependendo de como corra a noite, por isso vamos lá pôr a conduzir aquele amigo que só bebe sumos e água.
2. A que horas é aconselhável lá chegar?
A partir da meia-noite e meia, qualquer hora é uma boa hora para lá chegar. Podem ambientar-se nas calmas, dar uma vista de olhos pela casa, sentar-se a conversar ao som de Captain Of Her Heart dos Double ou Hunting High And Low dos A-ha...
3. Quanto é que vou pagar à entrada?
Para entrar nesta festa de cariz popular, mas com o leve toque elitista (sim, nós os oitentistas somos uma classe à parte, ok?), cada pessoa terá de desembolsar 500 paus. Como organização eficaz e sempre atenta à evolução da humanidade que somos, já previmos alternativa no caso de não conseguirem apresentar uma nota das antigas, por isso aceitam-se moedas da recente unidade monetária: 2 euros e meio. Se forem aos pares, são cinco euros. A questão dos trocos é sempre importante. Parecendo que não, facilita.
4. O consumo é independente da entrada?
Sim. Cerveja, águas e sumos custam 2 euros. Vodkas e wiskies, 5 euros.
5. Posso conhecer a organização da festa?
Claro que pode, nós não ferramos e prometemos tomar banho antes. O Ivo Teixeira é um dos DJs da noite, por isso, basta chegarem à cabina e perguntarem "És o Ivo?". Se ele disser que sim, é porque é ele. O Ivo é um mestre na nobre arte de manter a pista cheia. O Tiago Vasconcellos tem a cargo o departamento socio-cultural das festas, providenciando também apoio ao cliente a diversos níveis, desde a orientação geográfica a aconselhamento sentimental. Procurem um rapaz com um bronze assinalável, com ar de quem vos pode ajudar em tudo o que for preciso. O tarzanboy é um gajo que vai andar de liana em liana nos intervalos da dança, os quais, já agora, serão escassos, porque ele é mesmo um animal da pista. Ele é um gajo simpático, embora à primeira vista pareça um pouco frio. A sua timidez às vezes confunde-se com um certo distanciamento. Para além disso, adora falar dele mesmo na terceira pessoa.
6. É possível ouvir músicas de outras décadas?
Claro que não! Se isto é uma festa do Queridos Anos 80, é natural que só se ouça música dessa década. No entanto, como não somos nenhuns talibãs, é possível ouvir e dançar ao som de músicas que estão ali a bater de raspão nos eighties. Não será estranho ouvir-se um Video Killed The Radio Star (1979) ou um Freedom (1990). Tudo depende do estado de espírito do momento.
7. Quem é o responsável pelos magníficos flyers que a festa tem apresentado?
Este último foi realizado pela Teresa Vasconcellos e os cinco flyers das cinco primeiras festas foram obra da Susana Vasconcellos. Tanto uma como outra, profissionais do ofício. O talento, está bom de ver, está nos genes familiares.

▶ WHAT IS EXPLORE?
"Explore is a Flickr feature with the intent of showing you 'some of the most awesome photos on Flickr.' Photos are automatically selected by computer according to a secret algorithm called Interestingness. The top 500 photos ranked by Interestingness are shown in Explore.
Flickr has stated that many factors go into calculating Interestingness: a photo's tags, how many groups the photo is in, views, favorites, where click-throughs are coming from, who comments on a photo and when, and more. The velocity of any of those components is a key factor. For example, getting 20 comments in an hour counts much higher than getting 20 comments in a week.
Is Explore a showcase for the top Flickr photographers? No. It's for photo viewers, not the photographers. It exists so that, at any moment, anyone who wants to view interesting photos can go to Explore and have a reasonable chance of seeing something interesting.
Does that imply that photographs not in Explore are uninteresting? Of course not. Many wonderful photos are uploaded to Flickr each day not selected for Explore. But, to serve its purpose, Explore only includes a small sampling of all of the photos on Flickr, showing photos from many different people to create a diverse selection."

Did you know: Fawns have an average of 294-306 spots? As you can see in the photo, they start in a row along each side of the spine. Fawns are born with spots because it's great at camouflaging them from predators like wolves, coyotes, and bears. They will lose their spots as they get older and don't rely on hiding anymore. They usually lose their spots around October when their winter coats start coming in. Have you ever stumbled upon a fawn in the woods and almost missed it from their camouflage?

The Perth Bell Tower is a landmark building not far from Elizabeth Quay on the Swan River near downtown Perth. An interesting looking building that has St Martin in the Fields, London, Bells. What is there to do at Redfish Lake?
Relax and enjoy the scenery! Rent a boat from the Marina to explore the lake on your own. Sunbathe on the sandy beach. Hike: there are plenty of trails around to lead you to gorgeous backcountry. Saddle up at the Redfish Corrals. Stop by the Redfish Lake Visitor Center. Eat a hearty meal in the restaurant. Sip a cocktail in the lounge. Gaze at the Milky Way in the crystal clear night sky. Fish a nearby stream.
While I did not do most of the leisurely stuff described above, I did get to gaze in wonderment at the Milky Way in a really dark sky area. I had wanted to shoot a panorama of tracked longer focal length shots for some time. A well known astrophotographer Eric Benedetti shoots spectacular stacked Milky Way panoramas. He also shoots them mostly in this area which gave me the motivation to try something similar. This was shot the night before the Great American Eclipse from the nearby Stanley Lake.
I used a star tracker to gather more star light than I could without a tracker. For the ground portion, the tracker was turned off. A total of 30 exposures were then stitched into a panorama. I used a 55mm lens which is more commonly used for portraits. Apples to apples, a longer lens gathers more light than a wide angle lens. My biggest challenge with this panorama is blending the sky and ground parts like it would be in one large wide angle shot. Thanks to John Burge for the pointers. John shoots some fantastic longer length panos (85mm and above). Do check out his work..
The peaks which frame the lake at its south end are
· Mount Heyburn at 10,229 ft (3,118 m) on the Right
· Grand Mogul at 9,733 feet (2,967 m) on the left
