This is the better-looking flight pod, probably because I made it first. The flight pods were constructed from the pieces I cut out of the center section of the main cake to shape the ship. The second one, to starboard, suffered from both melty icing (normally my hands are icy cold, I swear) and lack of construction materials. Due to the crumbly texture of the cake bits, all the icing was piped on, then carefully smoothed out with a teeny spatula.
