This car has a rich and fascinating history, from its design and production to its enduring popularity and legacy, even making appearances in Hollywood films and video games.
karmann ghia history
After the War…
After the end of World War II, and for many – the Great Depression, the world was slowly beginning to recover. Over the next decade, people saw a steady increase in income and subsequently, the world saw more demand for the concept of “getting more for one’s money”. Particularly in the automotive world, there was a dire lack in vehicles that were anything but ‘simple and functional’. Cue, an emergence of flagship cars from auto companies such as Volkswagen, Chevrolet, and Ford.
Volkswagen in particular at that time were marketing fairly well in small and efficient cars – the Beetle and the Bus – and had built quite the reputation for being reliable, so they wanted a model to be rather more of an “image car”. Through the desire of W. Karmann GmbH, producers of the Beetle Cabriolet for VW, the Karmann Ghia concept was born.
Chrysler contracted with the Italian styling and coach building firm of, aptly named, Ghia, to build a series of “image cars”. Some of these cars were ultimately produced, but one car that did not make it to production ended up benefiting Volkswagen substantially. That car would eventually become the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia. While Chrysler worked with Ghia, Volkswagen contracted with the German coach builder, Karmann to build their “image” car, and Karmann, in need of a design, approached Ghia and somehow the old Chrysler design resurfaced and was modified to fit the floorpan of the VW Beetle.
The Karmann Ghia was first designed by Italian coach-builder Carrozzeria Ghia in the early 1950s. It was a joint project with German car manufacturer Volkswagen, who provided the chassis and mechanical components. The car’s design was intended to be a sleek and stylish sports car, with a low-slung body, curved roofline, and distinctive rear end.
The first Karmann Ghia prototypes were created in 1953, and the car went into production in 1955. It was manufactured by Wilhelm Karmann GmbH at their factory in Osnabrück, Germany. Often dubbed the “poor man’s Porsche”, the Karmann Ghia was based on the Volkswagen Beetle, but it had a distinctive body design that set it apart from its more utilitarian counterpart.
In 1969, the Karmann Ghia was named one of the most beautifully designed products in the world, and it is good to see that that still holds up for many people today!
Popularity and Legacy of the Karmann Ghia
The Karmann Ghia was an instant success when it was first introduced, especially amongst starry-eyed Americans who wanted to cruise around in something cool. It was stylish, affordable, and fun to drive, and it quickly became a favourite of car enthusiasts around the world. Over the years, the car went through several design changes and upgrades, including a larger rear window, a longer wheelbase, and more powerful engines.
The first Karmann Ghia prototypes were created in 1953, and the car was in production from 1955 until 1974, with a total of over 445,000 units manufactured.
Today, it remains an iconic and highly sought-after classic car, with an incredibly loyal following.
Technical Specifications of the Karmann Ghia
The Karmann Ghia was powered by an air-cooled, rear-mounted engine, with displacement ranging from 1.2 to 1.6 litres, and horsepower ranging from 30 to 60. The car had a top speed of around 90 miles per hour and was equipped with a four-speed manual transmission. It was also known for its excellent handling and manoeuvrability, making it a joy to drive on winding roads.
In Conclusion…
The Volkswagen Karmann Ghia is a true classic of the automotive world, with a rich history and enduring legacy. From its distinctive design and production to its enduring popularity and loyal fanbase, this car has captured the hearts and imaginations of car enthusiasts around the world. Whether you’re a collector, an enthusiast, or simply a fan of classic cars, the small and loveable Karmann Ghia is a car that is sure to impress.

♫♫ Roxette - Listen To Your Heart (Official Music Video)
♫♫
Ronnie Jett's journey into a new musical venture took an exciting turn the moment she encountered the mesmerizing Kelly Lauryn at one of Second Life's vibrant dancing clubs. Kelly's magnetic stage presence and her professional acumen behind the DJ decks were undeniable. She possessed a unique potential to truly ignite the audience. Her expertly crafted sets captivated the crowd, leaving Ronnie deeply impressed.
Recognizing a kindred spirit and immense talent, Ronnie immediately envisioned Kelly as a key component of her nascent Music Project, initially dubbed 'the Alts'. The ambition was clear: to play together across the grid, sharing their sound far and wide. Kelly, a truly talented DJ soon proved her versatility. Her natural charisma and vocal prowess quickly propelled her into the role of lead singer for 'the Alts', a band that would subsequently rise to prominence under the new name, 'the Riot Girls'.
Kelly Lauryn was a leading voice within the band, notably being the first to suggest adopting the vital and outrageous name, "The Riot Girls." She believed this powerful moniker perfectly captured their rebellious spirit and unique sound. Beyond the band's identity, Kelly also innovatively created the "Riot Girls VIPs" group. This exclusive initiative provided a dedicated platform for their growing fanbase to follow and engage with the band's journey.
Through time, Kelly had to step away from the band due to a shortage of available real-life time and her commitment to other creative projects within Second Life. However, her unique personality and undeniable potential were instrumental in making the band exceptionally popular during its very early stages.
(To be continued)

Remember when we could go to the ballpark and forget about life for awhile. Doesn't matter if it's baseball, football, basketball or any other sport we just like going. Too bad now all these events have no butts in the seats. Too bad these events now all have to have their own political twist on them. If they are not careful they may lose their fanbase.
Okay, John and Jax. Having been tagged by both of you in less than 24 hours, I guess I really need to go ahead and devote the time to this task. My favorite 10 albums of all time. IMPOSSIBLE! It simply cannot be done. To try and cultivate into a mere 10 albums (and let alone rank them) a half a century of musical tastes and preferences is physically impossible. So I cannot even begin to do so.
I can however, relate to you perhaps ten albums that, for a plethera of reasons, have impacted who I am, how I feel about life or world issues or just everyday living, or have seeded themselves firmly into the medley of musical variations I have come to enjoy over the span of 50 years. Some are rock, some are country, some are blues, some are just uniquely different. But the majority of them have had their early roots in the blues, or have been influenced by various blues artists to some degree. So in no particular order, here they are.
SRV, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, The Sky is Crying.
Released about one year after Vaughan's death in 1990, the album features ten tracks originally recorded between 1984 and 1989.
The Sky Is Crying illustrates many of Vaughan's musical influences, including songs in the style of traditional Delta blues, Chicago blues, jump blues, jazz blues, and Jimi Hendrix. The album's tone alternates primarily between uptempo pieces and gritty, slow blues. The album includes a Grammy-winning extended instrumental cover version of Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing"; "Chitlins con Carne", a jazz instrumental; and, "Life by the Drop", a song written by Vaughan's friend Doyle Bramhall and played on acoustic guitar. This song is not about Vaughan's struggle with drug abuse, as many think, but actually about Vaughan's friendship with Doyle Bramhall from Bramhall's perspective.
ZZ Top, Tres Hombres.
Tres Hombres is the third album by American blues-rock band ZZ Top, released in 1973, and marked the first of many times the band worked with engineer Terry Manning. It proved to be the group's commercial breakthrough, attracting a far larger fanbase. The album hit the top ten while the single "La Grange" hit 41 on the singles chart.
The band's name is often said to be a combination of two popular brands of rolling paper, Zig-Zag and Top. It has also been claimed as a tribute to blues singer Z. Z. Hill. However, Gibbons wrote in his autobiography, Rock + Roll Gearhead, that it actually came from a tribute to and a play on the name of blues guitar master B. B. King. The band had planned to call themselves Z.Z. King, but felt it was too similar. Since B.B. King was at the "top", they settled on ZZ Top.
In January 1973, ZZ Top opened for The Rolling Stones three shows in Hawaii. They also began recording with engineer Terry Manning at Ardent Studios in Memphis. The resultant third album, Tres Hombres (1973), was the first for which the band gained a million-seller and wide acclaim. Hombres featured ZZ's classic hit "La Grange", written about the Chicken Ranch, a famous La Grange, Texas bordello (that was also the subject of the musical The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas). Other album cuts like "Waitin' for the Bus" and its immediate follower "Jesus Just Left Chicago" became fan favorites and rock-radio staples. However, my favorite tune to be spawned on this album was "Hot, Blue and Righteous".
Delbert McClinton, Never Been Rocked Enough.
This album is probably the most currently produced album on my list here, and possibly on my list of the 50 most influential albums for me. It as produced and relased in 1992. Nothing since then, at least to my immediate knowledge, would make the list.
Delbert McClinton (born 4 November 1940, Lubbock, Texas) is a singer-songwriter, guitarist, harmonica player, and pianist. Active as a side-man since at least 1962 and as a band leader since 1972, he has recorded several major-label albums, and charted singles on the Billboard Hot 100, Mainstream Rock Tracks, and Hot Country Songs charts. His highest-peaking single was "Tell Me About It", a 1992 duet with Tanya Tucker which reached #4 on the Country charts. He has also had four albums that made it to #1 on the U.S. Blues chart, and another that reached #2.
His 1992 release of this album featured the hit single "Every Time I Roll the Dice", which made it to #13 on the US Mainstream Rock charts, While the album only made it to #113. He has written for and recorded with a group of musicians that reads like the who's who or the music industry, including John Lennon.
And at the legendary Skyliner Ballroom, where McClinton's band was the only white act to play its Blue Monday nights AND be the backing band for the headliners, he received a first-class tutelage from the masters of blues music like Jimmy Reed, Howlin' Wolf and Sonny Boy Williamson. McClinton cut a number of local and regional singles before hitting the national charts in 1962 playing harmonica on Bruce Channel's now classic “Hey! Baby.” On a subsequent package tour of England, Delbert showed some of his harp licks to the rhythm guitarist for a young band at the bottom of the bill. The lessons he gave John Lennon were later heard on hit singles by The Beatles; when the two met Lennon already knew the instrument's basics, and the experienced McClinton shared some new licks with him.
Pink Floyd, Momentary Lapse of Reason
A Momentary Lapse of Reason is the thirteenth studio album by English progressive rock group Pink Floyd. It was released in the UK and US in September 1987. In 1985 guitarist David Gilmour began to assemble a group of musicians to work on his third solo album. At the end of 1986 he changed his mind, and decided that the new material would instead be included in a new Pink Floyd album. Subsequently Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason and keyboardist Richard Wright (who had left the group in 1979) were brought on board for the project. Although for legal reasons Wright could not be re-admitted to the band, he and Mason helped Gilmour craft what would become the first Pink Floyd album since the departure of lyricist and bass guitarist Roger Waters in December 1985.
The album was recorded primarily on Gilmour's converted houseboat, Astoria. Its production was marked by an ongoing legal dispute between Waters and the band as to who owned the rights to Pink Floyd's name, which was not resolved until several months after the album was released. Unlike most of Pink Floyd's studio albums, A Momentary Lapse of Reason has no central theme, and is instead a collection of rock songs written mostly by Gilmour and musician Anthony Moore. Although the album received mixed reviews and was derided by Waters, with the help of an enormously successful world tour it easily out-sold their previous album The Final Cut. A Momentary Lapse of Reason is certified multi-platinum in the US.
Although the amazing talents of Water's were not present on this album, it still spawned two of my all time favorite songs, "Dogs of War", and "On the Turning Away".
Iron Maiden, Live After Death.
Live After Death is a live album by the British heavy metal band Iron Maiden, released on October 14, 1985 on EMI in Europe and its sister label Capitol Records in the US (it was re-released by Sanctuary/Columbia Records in the US in 2002). It was recorded during the band's World Slavery Tour. The album was instrumental in establishing the band as an extraordinary live band and is regarded as one of the best live albums ever recorded.
For anyone with a love of metal, Iron Maiden is a must hear band. The cover art was done by Derek Riggs, and pictures the band's mascot, Eddie rising from a grave. On that grave is a tombstone with a quote from the fantasy and horror fiction author H. P. Lovecraft's The Nameless City:
"That is not dead which can eternal lie
Yet with strange aeons even death may die."
The proper quote is actually "And with strange..." instead of "Yet with strange...". A similar version of this phrase is used in Metallica's song "The Thing That Should Not Be" from the Master of Puppets album.
Queensryche, Operation Mindcrime.
Operation: Mindcrime is a concept album by American progressive metal band Queensrÿche. Released on May 3, 1988, it is the band's third full-length album. A rock opera, its story follows a man who becomes disillusioned with the society of the time and reluctantly becomes involved with a revolutionary group as an assassin of political leaders. The album is highly regarded within the heavy metal community, often labelled as one of the genre's finest works. It ranked at number 10 at metal-rules.com's best heavy metal albums ever. In January 1989, it ranked #34 on Kerrang! magazine's "100 Greatest Heavy Metal Albums Of All Time."
The album begins with the protagonist, Nikki, in a hospital. He lies in a near catatonic state, unable to remember anything but snippets from his past. Suddenly, Nikki's memories come flooding back in a torrent. He remembers how, as a heroin addict and would-be political radical frustrated with contemporary society, he was manipulated into joining a supposed secret organization dedicated to revolution. At the head of this organization is a political and religious demagogue known only as Dr. X, who by manipulating Nikki through a combination of his heroin addiction and brainwashing techniques, uses Nikki as an assassin. Whenever Dr. X uses the word "mindcrime" Nikki becomes his docile puppet, a state which Dr. X uses to command Nikki to undertake any murder that the Doctor wishes. Through one of Dr. X's probable associates, a corrupt priest named Father William, Nikki is offered the services of a prostitute-turned-nun named Sister Mary. Through his friendship and growing affection toward Sister Mary, Nikki begins to question the nature of what he is doing. Dr. X notices this and, seeing a potential threat in Mary, orders Nikki to kill both her and the priest. Nikki goes to Mary's church and kills the priest, but after confronting Mary fails to comply with the command to murder her. He and Mary decided to leave the organization together, and Nikki goes to Dr. X to tell him that they are out. Dr. X, however, reminds Nikki that he is an addict, and that he is the one who can provide him with his daily fix. Nikki leaves, conflicted and returns to Mary, only to find her dead, hanging from her own rosary. He cannot cope with the loss, as well as the possibility that he himself may have killed her and not known it, and begins to succumb to insanity. The police, arriving on the scene, arrest him for Mary's murder and the murders he committed for Dr. X. He is put into a hospital, where he begins to remember what has happened.
Rush, Hemispheres.
Hemispheres is the sixth studio album by the Canadian rock band Rush, released in 1978. The album was recorded at Rockfield Studios in Wales and mixed at Trident Studios in London. This album continues Rush's trend of using the fantasy and science fiction lyrics written by Neil Peart. Similar to their 1976 release, 2112, Hemispheres contains a single, epic song broken into chapters as the first half of the album ("Cygnus X-1, Book II: Hemispheres") while the second half contains two more conventionally-executed tracks ("Circumstances", "The Trees"), then is rounded out by the nine-and-a-half-minute instrumental, "La Villa Strangiato".
The album contains examples of Rush's adherence to progressive rock standards including the use of epic, multi-movement song structures, complex rhythms and time signatures, and flexible guitar solos, like those found in "La Villa Strangiato".
Hemispheres was Rush's fourth consecutive Gold album upon release in 1978 and would subsequently go Platinum in the US. For a short period of time, the album was released on Canadian red vinyl in a gatefold sleeve with poster (catalogue number SANR-1-1015), and as a limited edition picture disc (catalogue number SRP-1300),both have which become much sought after collectors items.
Hang in there, folks....only 3 to go. I apologize, but I try not to halfway do anything...LOL!
Metallica, Ride the Lightning.
Ride the Lightning is the second studio album by the American heavy metal band Metallica. It was released on July 27, 1984 through Megaforce Records and was re-released on November 19, 1984 by Elektra Records. Ride the Lightning was certified gold by the RIAA on November 5, 1987 and was most recently certified 5x platinum on June 9, 2003.
Ride the Lightning retains the speed of Kill 'Em All on songs like "Trapped Under Ice" and "Fight Fire with Fire", but also contains the first of Metallica's longer, more intricate tracks, such as "Fade to Black" and the nearly 9-minute closing instrumental "The Call of Ktulu". "Ride the Lightning" is the last Metallica album to credit former member, Dave Mustaine. Ride the Lightning was listed at #3 on a list compiled by metal-rules.com of the Top 100 Metal Albums of All Time.
"Ride the Lightning" is Metallica's first song which directly pointed on the misery of the criminal justice system. The song is one of two on the album that credits former member Dave Mustaine. The lyrics of the song "Ride the Lightning" are written from the perspective of someone who is forthcoming death-by-electrocution, although he didn't commit murder.
"For Whom the Bell Tolls" was composed by Cliff Burton, James Hetfield, and Lars Ulrich. The songs inspiration is Ernest Hemingway's novel For Whom the Bell Tolls about the dishonor of modern warfare and Robert Jordan's eminent doom during the bloody Spanish Civil War, with specific allusions to the scene in which five soldiers are obliterated during an air-strike, whilst taking a position on a hill.
The lyrics of Fade to Black suggest a man contemplating, then eventually committing suicide. Metallica revealed that they have received letters from fans who were dissuaded from committing suicide by the song.
"Creeping Death" describes the Plague of the Firstborn (Exodus 12:29). The lyrics deal with the 10 plagues on Egypt, and throughout the song, four of the ten plagues are mentioned as well as the Passover.
"The Call of Ktulu" was Metallica's second instrumental song, following the first instrumental "(Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth" from Kill 'Em All. The song working title was originally "When Hell Freezes Over".
The idea of the song "The Call of Ktulu" is based upon H.P. Lovecraft's book The Shadow Over Innsmouth which was first introduced to the rest of the band by Cliff Burton. The song's name was taken from one of H.P. Lovecraft's main stories featuring Cthulhu, The Call of Cthulhu, which was written in 1928 for the magazine Weird Tales. The name "Ktulu" is originally written "Cthulhu" by H.P. Lovecraft.
And all this time you thought they were just a bunch of fucking stoners.....hehehe.
Led Zeppelin, IV.
The fourth album by the English rock band Led Zeppelin was released on 8 November 1971. No title is printed on the album, so it is generally referred to as Led Zeppelin IV, following the naming standard used by the band's first three studio albums. Also the album has alternatively been referred to as , Four Symbols, The Fourth Album (those two titles each having been used in the Atlantic Records catalogue), Untitled, Runes, Sticks, ZoSo and The Hermit. Zoso is also the moniker for the band's guitarist, Jimmy Page.
Upon its release, Led Zeppelin IV was a commercial and critical success. The album is one of the best-selling albums in history at 37 million units. It has shipped over 23 million units in the United States alone, putting it third on the all-time list in the United States and twelfth world-wide. In 2003, the album was ranked 66th on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
"Black Dog" got its name from a stray black dog that was roaming about the concourse of Headley Grange during recording sessions for the song.
"The Battle of Evermore" and "Misty Mountain Hop" are references to J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings novels.
"Going to California" is a reference to John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath.
The idea for each member of the band to choose a personal emblem for the cover was Page's. In an interview he gave in 1977, he recalled:
After all this crap that we'd had with the critics, I put it to everybody else that it'd be a good idea to put out something totally anonymous. At first I wanted just one symbol on it, but then it was decided that since it was our fourth album and there were four of us, we could each choose our own symbol. I designed mine and everyone else had their own reasons for using the symbols that they used.
Page stated that he designed his own symbol himself and has never publicly disclosed any reasoning behind it. However, it has been argued that his symbol appeared as early as 1557 to represent Saturn. The symbol is sometimes referred to as "ZoSo", though Page has explained that it was not in fact intended to be a word at all.
Bassist John Paul Jones' symbol, which he chose from Rudolf Koch's Book of Signs, is a single circle intersecting 3 vesica pisces (a triquetra). It is intended to symbolise a person who possesses both confidence and competence.
Drummer John Bonham's symbol, the three interlocking rings, was picked by the drummer from the same book. It represents the triad of mother, father and child, but also happens to be the logo for Ballantine beer.
Singer Robert Plant's symbol was his own design, being based on the sign of the supposed Mu civilisation.
There is also a fifth, smaller symbol chosen by guest vocalist Sandy Denny representing her contribution to the track "The Battle of Evermore"; it appears in the credits list on the inner sleeve of the LP, serving as an asterisk and is shaped like three triangles touching at their points.
And finally we make it home with....
Allman Brothers, Live at Fillmore East.
At Fillmore East is a double live album by The Allman Brothers Band. The band's breakthrough success, At Fillmore East was released in July 1971. It ranks Number 49 among Rolling Stone magazine’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time and remains among the top-selling albums in the band’s catalogue. It is often cited as being one of the most well-known live recordings in history.
Recorded at the Fillmore East concert hall, the storied rock venue in New York City, on Friday and Saturday March 12, 1971–March 13, 1971, it showcased the band's mixture of blues, Southern rock and jazz. The cover of Blind Willie McTell's "Statesboro Blues" which opens the set showcases Duane Allman's slide guitar work in open E Tuning. "Whipping Post" became the standard for a long, epic jam that never lost interest (opening in 11/8 time, unusual territory for a rock band), while the ethereal-to-furious "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed", with its harmonized melody, Latin feel and burning drive invited comparisons with John Coltrane (especially Duane's solo-ending pull-offs, a direct nod to the jazz saxophonist).
The album was produced by Tom Dowd, who condensed the running time of various songs, occasionally even merging multiple performances onto one track. At Fillmore East peaked at #13 on Billboard's Pop Albums chart.
Two other songs recorded during the same set of shows, "Trouble No More", and the memorable "Mountain Jam", were later released on Eat a Peach, the latter spanning two sides of the double album.
Those songs were later included in their entirety, along with uncut versions of some, re-edited versions of others, and some previously omitted tracks, on a new release of the Fillmore material entitled The Fillmore Concerts (1992). "Stormy Monday" gained back a harmonica solo; "Don't Keep Me Wonderin'" and "Drunken Hearted Boy" were included as well.
In 1998 a 5.1 DTS mix of the original version was released with Duane Allman in the left rear channel, Dickey Betts in the right rear channel, Jai Johanny Johanson in the front left channel, Butch Trucks in the right front channel and Gregg Allman and Berry Oakley both spread out over the front and center channels.
George Kimball of Rolling Stone magazine hailed them as "the best damn rock and roll band this country has produced in the past five years." A few months later, group leader Duane Allman was killed in a motorcycle accident. The group survived that and the death of bassist Oakley in another motorcycle accident a year later; with replacement members Chuck Leavell and Lamar Williams, the Allman Brothers Band achieved its peak commercial success in 1973 with the album Brothers and Sisters and the hit single "Ramblin' Man". Internal turmoil overtook the band soon after; the group dissolved in 1976, reformed briefly at the end of the decade with additional personnel changes, and dissolved again in 1982.
In 1989, the group reformed with some new members and has been recording and touring since. A series of personnel changes in the late 1990s was capped by the departure of Betts. The group found stability during the 2000s with Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks, the nephew of their drummer, serving as its guitarists, and became renowned for their month-long string of shows in New York City each spring. The band has been awarded eleven gold and five platinum albums between 1971 and 2005 and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995. Rolling Stone ranked them 52nd on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time in 2004.
Hello Flickr ! Here is a panoramic version of a picture I took recently. The first ones were harshly processed in order to be posted on Instagram (which is not very panorama friendly). However, I had clearly in mind to take much more time to make big panoramas with a lot of shots (bracketing for the sky and the earth).
So because it took me some time to create something only for Flickr, I thought that it could be a good occasion to post a little reflexion wandering in my mind these past few months : how's Flickr doing ?
I have to confess, I created an Instagram account the day I realized Sean Archer wasn't posting picture on Flickr anymore. It's quite easy to understand : he is one of the most followed guy on 500px (if not the most) : it probably became pointless for him to post on Flickr where he has a less significant fanbase. Sean Archer is probably the archetype of the Internet-photographer and the fact that he was leaving the boat was a kind of shock : Flickr was not the place where the game was played anymore.
For time to time, I googled the question “Is flickr dead ?” and found a lot of different opinions. Lot of people where already saying in 2011 that Flickr became the new MySpace. Other people pointed out that Flickr remain the best patform in terms of service (for free), storage capacity, high quality of pictures and so on. I totally agree. But at the same time, I think these technical assets of Flickr are not what should be put in question. Flickr is technically a very good (and maybe the best) photography platform.
The real question is : do creative/enthusiast/interesting photographers still use it ? Is there enough activity on this website to allow it to be what we (I) want it to be : a source of inspiration/emulation/improvement and so on … I also want it to be a source of Challenge : I would take less picture if I was just keeping them for myself.
I realized that I have less and less view/favs when I post something. Not that I really care. Maybe I am just getting worse (it's possible). However, it create a strange impression of … inactivity, disinvestment and unmotivation. The real reason, I guess, is that most of my followers are ghost account now : they left the boat too.
So I was wondering how you live this situation ? Do you feel the same ? Is it just because I am not invested enough ? Do I have missed something ? Or does Flickr really became an after-party and I am among the guests that stay too long ? Does the party moved in the kitchen when I was asleep ? Is the party definitely taking place in the house across the street ?
Apparently you stayed with me (or do you just arrived ?), so I am sincerely curious to have your opinion !
About 2 hours in the grooming van where he was as good as gold and acquired another fan to add to his already vast fanbase! He looks so much more grown-up suddenly!

Zero Tolerance is a brand of Kai USA Ltd. The ZT brand first made its appearance in 2006 when we saw a place in the market for a Made-in-USA line of hard-use knives that would meet the needs of professionals in the military and law enforcement, as well as other first responders, such as firefighters and emergency medical personnel.
The brand quickly built a small, but dedicated fanbase, including those who weren’t first responders or military members. Whatever walk of life they came from, ZT owners fell in love with the hard-use designs and premium materials. They called the knives “real beasts” and “proudly overbuilt.”

Chuck is one of the greatest shows on TV these days. Not a lot of people watch it, but its fanbase is a loyal one. The show is very heartfelt, hilarious, has great action, great soundtrack, fantastic plot, and it's sexy without being smutty. I especially love their sly pop culture references (e.g. Reginald VelJohnson, who played Sgt. Al Powell in the original Die Hard, recurring his role as Al Powell on an episode with a Christmas hostage situation... or their constant naming bad guys after villains from classic movies). It's been my family's favorite show since it premiered in 2007. It's a show that really just makes you feel good all over when you watch it. It never fails to please, and we would be devastated if it went off the air. But thanks to DVR's (and a great chunk of Chuck viewers are technology nerds, so it's to be expected), Nielson ratings are down, and the show IS in danger! So, Zachary Levi, star of the show, has started a campaign to save Chuck! Subway is Chuck's biggest sponsor. They even sneak the $5 Footlong jokes into the show whenever they can. So Zachary is asking everyone to go to Subway (biggest sponsor!!!) this Monday and order a $5 Footlong. It's a great, cheap, healthy lunch... so even if you're not a fan... why not go get one? Do it for me! And while you're there, drop a note in the suggestion box thanking Subway for sponsoring Chuck and asking them to help keep the show around! Also, if you can, please please please watch the Finale LIVE (NOT an hour later on DVR.... really, truly LIVE) this Monday night! And lastly, if you are a big fan, like me and my family, take the time to write some letters to the people in charge of it all.Now that you've read my summary of the situation, here are the details from www.msplinks.com/MDFodHRwOi8vemFjaGFyeS1sZXZpLmNvbS8yMDA5...:
To Participate in the Finale and Footlong campaign I’m asking that fans…
1. Get the word out on this program. Lots of people want to help
Chuck, but may not have the time or inclination to write letters, but
the network will listen closer if we’re talking dollars.
2. Still, if you can…write letters to NBC & Universal telling
them why you think Chuck is great (Ben Silverman is Co-Chairman of NBC
and Angela Bromstad is with Primetime Programming). In that letter be
sure to mention that you’re going to be supporting Subway, one of
Chuck’s key sponsors by purchasing a $5 Footlong the evening of the
finale and that you’re spreading the word to convince more fans to do
the same…this is a way for non-Nielson fans to show their love of the
show by directly supporting one of Chuck’s key advertisers.
3. Write a thank you letter to Subway, letting them know what the fans
are trying to do here and thank them for their product placement spots
on Chuck.
4. Convert as many new fans as you can before the finale…we need the numbers.
5. On April 27th be sure to BUY A $5 FOOTLONG from Subway
and if possible, drop a note in the comment box at the franchise
letting them know you’re participating in the Finale and Footlong
campaign to save NBC’s Chuck, of which Subway is a product placement
sponsor.
6. Watch the finale LIVE if possible.
If you do nothing else…do the last two items on the list.
Again…the intent is to let the network and their sponsor know that
we’ve received their message. This is something a Nielson box can’t
do…this is a translation of fan loyalty into real dollars that NBC
& Subway can measure. Thanks for listening.

Yesterday I spent most of the day - and night - playing around in Photoshop, so today I just wanted to get a shot off that didn't require much attention.
Luckily the weather was pretty good today so I joined Disco~Stu and his family and we went for a walk around Portland.
There's so many great locations on Portland to shoot a self portrait so I really had to hold back - having said that I still had four or five variations of shots that I ditched in favour of this one.
I thought I had a camera full of decent shots until I got home and downloaded them onto my computer . . . so I was gutted to find that I'd horribly underexposed 99% of them (plus one that was completely blown out) and there was no chance of the SOOC shot I wanted to post.
Luckily I didn't have to fiddle around in Lightroom too much to get this shot looking a bit better, I just selected a preset and customised it a bit. It still looks very dark at this size though so you might get a better view clicking the big on black link down at the bottom of my babble. There's another version of this shot with a different treatment and I couldn't decide between them so, as I always do when I'm looking for a definitive and decisive opinion, I asked Lydia, who chose this one.
What I wanted to do today was get a landscape shot as I haven't had a chance to use the kit lens at it's widest angle yet. I can't remember if this is at it's widest or not, the D50 I'm using has an 18-55mm lens and I've been mostly using it at 50mm or thereabouts because most of the shots I've done using it have been inside in confined spaces.
Oh and I've found a band that I really, really like today. They're called Glasvegas, I've heard of them before but today I had a chance to listen to their whole album and it just blew me away. They're from Glasgow and they sound like . . . well, nothing I've heard before! 50's style melodies and chord progressions backed by a huge synth sound and a Phil Spectoresque wall of sound. It's like listening to The Proclaimers on downers!
Has anyone heard of The Proclaimers? I reckon most Brits would've heard of them, they're a Scottish folk duo, twin brothers, and they had a few hits many years back. They're still going as well, they have a huge Scottish fanbase and here's my claim to fame - my Auntie Marion went to school with them! Anyway, back to Glasvegas. They're awesome, check 'em out. I'll be listening to them for the next week or so non-stop I expect.
The standout track from their album for me is a song called Daddy's Gone. It's so powerful and bleak and touching at the same time, those of an emotional nature will be blubbing their eyes out every time they hear it - it's just the most beautiful song I've heard all year, sung in a broad Glasweigan accent and all the better for it.
I get a lump in my throat listening to it, and that's what great music does - it taps into something deep inside you and provokes a reaction.
I've heard they're influenced by the Jesus and Mary Chain, so I'm going to get hold of some of their stuff to listen to as well. They're one of those bands I've always wanted to hear but never got round to it.
And speaking bands I've heard of but never actually heard I also heard a few tracks by My Bloody Valentine today and was pretty much blown away by how good they are too. And I think they've been a direct influence to one of my favourite bands Type O Negative, particularly their album October Rust which was the album that first got me into them.
So all in all I've had a great day! Back to work tomorrow? Bugger.
Type O Negative was an American gothic metal band formed in Brooklyn, New York in 1989 by Peter Steele (lead vocals, bass), Kenny Hickey (guitar, co-lead vocals), Josh Silver (keyboards, backing vocals), and Sal Abruscato (drums, percussion), who was later replaced by Johnny Kelly. Their lyrical emphasis on themes of romance, depression, and death resulted in the nickname "the Drab Four".
The band went platinum with 1993's Bloody Kisses, and gold with 1996's October Rust, and gained a fanbase through seven studio albums, two best-of compilations, and concert DVDs.
Steele died on April 14, 2010, at the age of 48.
Hickey and Kelly stated in a November 2010 interview that Type O Negative had broken up following Steele's death.

Modern football in the UK is a globally celebrated phenomenon, with the Premier League standing as one of the most watched and lucrative leagues in the world. Clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool, and Manchester City attract international talent and fanbases, making the sport a cornerstone of British identity and economy. Innovations such as VAR (Video Assistant Referee) and increasing global broadcasts have elevated the game’s reach, while issues like financial disparities between clubs and fan involvement remain central to ongoing discussions.
Stevie, when I met her, was working in production for web series...now she's the executive producer of a whole internet empire...but this photo's really an excuse to talk about someone else.
This is...2003? My best friend was working for Michael Mann, was his assistant, and was leaving to go to film school. She called me, was wondering if I knew anyone who'd be interested in taking over.
It was a tough gig, Michael Mann is...a strong personality. Being his assistant is A Lot.
When I got the call, I was hanging out at a buddy's house. I ask my buddy, and he asks this guy Morgan, who's hanging out with us. I don't know the guy all that well, but my buddy does, from college. Morgan says yes, sure, he'll do it, loves Michael Mann. We get him the job.
Fast forward to earlier today, I'm reading a blog post by a friend of mine, who's talking about cinematographers, mentions a guy who used to work for Michael Mann, then went on to direct a fantastic episode of No Reservations, the Anthony Bourdain show.
Turns out, it's that guy Morgan.
I'm just blown away by how...small? How small the world can be? I read an oral biography of Anthony Bourdain last year...turns out Morgan is quoted dozens of times in it! But I hadn't thought about that guy in over a decade, had completely forgotten his last name, hell, we called him Mo back in the day.
Maybe it's living in LA, you see folks you know people successful in a way that doesn't happen in other places.
Stevie, in this shot, she's working a job once we're done. But now she's got a podcast and works for two Internet personalities, running their entire operation, she's got fans! She's got a fanbase!
Life and all its permutations. Never get to the point where it stops being amazing.

The 2025 MLB Trade Deadline has passed and the Minnesota Twins have shocked the baseball world and their fanbase.
Leading up to the deadline most fans and others across the game were expecting the Twins to trade a few players as the Twins hopes of making the postseason slipped away after falling to a record of 51-57.
The Twins ended up trading away 10 players off of their active 26 man roster, that's nearly 40% of the team. If you include Twins minor league pitcher Randy Dobnak the Twins ended up trading away 11 players in total. A few players that were traded had many years of team control left as well which makes it even more shocking.
Players that were traded off of the active roster include SS Carlos Correa, OF Harrison Bader, LHP Danny Coulombe, RHP Louie Varland, CL Jhoan Duran, RHP Brock Stewart, UTL Willi Castro, SP Chris Paddack, RHP Griffin Jax and 1B Ty France.
This no doubt marks the start of a rebuild for the Twins just 2 years after the 2023 season where the Twins broke their postseason curse and beat the Toronto Blue Jays in the AL Wild Card.
Instead of building on that 2023 team ownership decided to cut payroll to "right size the operation". Now after a season and a half of disappointing baseball the team has entered rebuild mode while the team is still up for sale by current ownership.
Fans across Twins Territory are frustrated more than ever after the events of the past few days.
Here's to hoping the Twins will bounce back from this and have a competitive team sooner than later.
By an artist whose fanbase would not include me (as a person he is not very likable). But the art is impressive. Much more so up close than in pictures. This is the underside of the bean with very interesting reflections.
"Postal van in the front, Defender 110 in the back. I love it!"
You might not have heard of this one. I certainly haven't.
At least not until a few weeks ago when Are J Heiseldal sent me a picture of one. Thanks for the challenge, sir.
It's a Portugese 4x4 from the late 80s, early 90s that seems to still have an enthusiastic fanbase, based on the forums I've come across.
As far as I can tell, it's an improvement of the UMM Alter, which is an improvement of the UMM 4x4 Cournil, which is based on a design by Frenchman Bernard Cournil, whose company adapted left-behind Willys Jeeps for agricultural use after WW2.
These things have even competed in the Paris-Dakar, beating out some Landies in the process.
I'm getting into slightly more obscure offroaders now, in an attempt to have as many different countries as possible represented in my series. I honestly wouldn't have expected to be able to include one from Portugal.
"NOISY. Also, did I mention the noise? I am sorry, I can't hear you."
Somehow every other premium streaming service out there; Netflix, Amazon, HBO etc. manages to include their big buget movies with the subscription. Not only does Disney Plus want more they want 30 bucks more... tell me how this is competitive and why anyone should let them get away with it... cuz if we do soon we'll be paying 30 bucks to all of them... and then Disney will charge 50.
I'm really conflicted. I think Disney is totally doing a money grab charting an "extra" 30 bucks to existing Disney Plus subscribers to watch this movie. I mean... maybe 19.95. I would just go see it in the theater but tickets sales are insane... barely an available seat... which would not bother me normally and I am vaccinated but you know tons of fools in there are not and they are not leaving spaces... they are selling out the theaters. Here's the kicker... even if you pay the 30 bucks to watch it... if you cancel your Disney Plus subscription at any time in the future you lose your access to the movie. WTF. So your 30 bucks doesn't even really buy you the film... it buys you the temporary ability to watch it as long as you continue to pay monthly for Disney Plus. Nothing like finding all new ways to rip off your loyal fanbase.

Ville Valo, the charismatic founder and frontman of the metal band HIM, Finland's most important contemporary cultural export. Their music can be considered a blend of literary influences from romantism, symbolism (Baudelaire) and shakespearian tragedies and the bittersweet scandinavian melancholy at its best. While the early albums are true masterpieces, the latest were conceived to draw in an even larger fanbase.
HIM is an excellent live band, but the show in Sibiu was a bit disappointing knowing what are they really capable of.

I've held off posting Harry Potter content for a while because of JK, who's a hateful bigot and I don't agree with anything she's been saying. With intellectual properties, it can be very difficult to separate the art from the artist, and the same can be said about Harry Potter. JK has very much been the face and voice of the franchise from the start, so it's hard to enjoy the books or films without feeling guilty of supporting her. That said, the world of Harry Potter, and the fanbase itself, is so much more than 1 petty person. Thousands of excellent people worked on the films and the fans are wildly diverse group of people, and that deserves some recognition too. I've loved the franchise for as long as I remember, and although it won't be the same in the future, I'm not going to let the vitriolic opinions of the creator influence my enjoyment of the world and the characters.

Flying Saucer Attack
Various CD albums, compilations and CDEPs.
All original CD issues not reissues.
Flying Saucer Attack is an English experimental space rock band formed in Bristol in 1992, led by songwriter David Pearce. Rachel Brook (now Rachel Coe) of Movietone was a member during the band's early incarnation; other musicians contributing to the group's recordings and live performances included Rocker (ex-the Flatmates), Matt Elliott (aka the Third Eye Foundation) and Sam Jones (of Crescent).
Drawing on krautrock, folk and dream pop, the group referred to their DIY sound as "rural psychedelia" and were associated with bands of the contemporary post-rock and shoegazing scenes. The band was able to create a small but enthusiastic fanbase, and were notable for recording most of their output at home, avoiding recording studios. (Source: Wikipedia)

Throwback to my last update where I said I was back. Then I got a job and now I'm graduating on Sunday, jesus.
If I have any fanbase here at all, just know I'm still getting ideas and working on executing. But I also got a lot on my plate including moving.
God, life is a lot right now I'm not even gonna lie this is a lil' wack. Once I can settle down a little bit, I'll start posting stuff. Especially considering I dropped like $40 on BrickLink for stuff.
I can't believe my fucking phone can take pictures like this BTW. Damn, and I dropped $400 on that camera a while back.
Life is weird, y'all.
If you want to see me in a more consistent variant, follow me on Twitter: @SporadicUser.
I guess I should also update that the high school experience isn't all that and I stayed in the same school district for 13 years with like, zero return so that was weird.
Prom was fun, I have pictures but don't really feel like posting them on an account dedicated to LEGO because as much as I like the community, some of you are really weird about women and that's a lil' concerning.
He reminded me of this tonight... it's amazing having someone you can really trust in Second Life... he's the one who gave me the courage to start DJing, and as my "fanbase" gets bigger, he's still my biggest fan :) xox
So first off I apologize for the horrible quality of this picture.
So I made some Lego figures of characters that I and I know many others are wondering where they are in Rebirth.
Now to be fair I am not reading all the Rebirth titles and I'm not caught up on the ones I am. I also stopped reading the New 52 a long time ago, so I don't know if there is some reason that some of these characters aren't in Rebirth.
So if I'm wrong about any of these guys and you know their fate let me know. Speaking of fate where is doctor fate? Bluebird is another good one, I actually stopped reading Rebirth for a bit because I wanted to read Batman and Robin eternal. Im really liking Bluebird and I'm sure her absence will be explained at the end of the story. But still, come back Harper.
Top Row L-R:
Firestorm: Where is he? I
lol I don't have anything to say really, just wondering I knew he was in the new 52 for a while and then he kinda disappeared into the background.
Syndrome hair, Flash head, Bart arms, wrestler legs, chima armor.
Miss Martian: I think she would fit really well into Damian's teen titans book, but I guess her and Starfire are kinda similar. I'm just suprised at her absence because of her popularity, and young justice coming back and all.
Gamora head, Barbara Gordon hair, WW legs, French Revolution torso.
Hawkgirl: This is the character I'm most upset about. Hawkgirl is such a popular character. The DCAU boosted her popularity so much. She was even in Injustice and th CW (which did her no justice). We don't want earth 2 hawkgirl. She's been missing from the main DC Storylines since 2011!!! Even before then she's always been hawkman's sorta sidekick. And I honestly don't really like Hawkman.
Rebirth should've been a new chance for Hawkgirl, surely DC realizes how big her fanbase is? Idk am I only the one who's shocked?
Reversed march Harriet torso, Chell torso, wolverine helmet, wyldstyle hood, chima hips.
Shazam: IDK where he is, but I'm very surprised at his absence.
Mighty Micro Flash torso, super man head.
Bottom Row L-R:
Martian Manhunter: Come back please! Lol. I couldn't get into his JLA run in the new 52, but I want to give him another shot, cuz I actually really like him.
Zatanna: Surprised Justice League Dark didn't return to be honest. It's popularity was strong enough to get its own animated movie so? Anyway I don't really care how she returns I just really like Zatanna.
Spooky girl torso, mad scientist arms, Big Bang head. Batman legs.
Vibe: he's really popular, I think he could be in Batman's new JLA.
Antman torso and legs with jacket, wyldstyle hood, Big Bang head. Actually really like this figure.
Wonder Girl: I really like Cassie so I would love to see her again.
BVS head and arms, LBM Robin legs, Lisa skirt, WW torso. What would she say about where Tim is???
Superboy: Conner Kent please return.
Most of these figures are very temporary I just wanted to try some new designs and kinda like what I could see them looking like in Rebirth.
Anyway so far really loving Rebirth. Particularly Titans, Detective comics, Wonder Woman and Green Arrow.
