The words that enlighten the soul are more precious than jewels.

I usually wait till tulips are falling apart before I photograph them. I shot this in my lightbox with a Lensbaby Sweet 35 and a 36mm extension tube.

Like an ocean, life is deep, but we are just floating on the surface.

One from the archives - I took this in the Palouse region in Eastern Washington.

Abandoned and long forgotten. Not sure the story behind this one. On a facebook group for locals there was a short post saying that this house was in the process of being built and the owner abandoned the project nearly thirty years ago. Who knows? Enjoy the photo and try to ignore those pesky power lines!

(Also thanks to everyone who has commented and fav'd my photos recently - I'm still trying to catch up!)

I never truly get the shot I want at this place as we are driving by on a small highway and this is set back a bit.

This one was not too bad.

“You’re a thousand beautifully broken pieces, welded together again. Made stronger. More resilient.” – Candace Knoebel

On Navagio Beach (Zakynthos) lies the rusty wreck of the Panagiotis, a cargo ship that ran aground here during bad weather in 1980. According to the most heard stories, the ship was carrying a cargo of smuggled cigarettes, although different versions of this are circulating.

The small island of Zakynthos (405.5 km2 or 156.5 sq mi) is one of the Ionian Islands off the west coast of Greece. The island consists of a coast with steep cliffs and caves, beautiful, pine-covered mountains, and fine sandy beaches.

Faded and falling apart

Not far from Paris ON and a bit outside of Brantford ON, there is this abandoned place. It looks like it was nice place at one time. I always wonder about abandoned places.

Happy Window Wednesday

Sometimes I feel like this. Yet still bricked with beauty and character.

This was taken a few years ago in Ingersoll Ontario. Old train station. I have been thinking of visiting this again to see if she is still there.

Macro Mondays: Wear and Tear

Apparently there was too much trash on this property for the Junk Yard Dog. He ran off after seeing the squalor he would be forced to live in. This house is abandoned even though it’s condition doesn’t look too bad from the outside. There is the obligatory refrigerator on the porch. It still needs a sofa on the porch before it can be declared a Class A Historic Junk Yard Landmark. You will note that there are several trailers, a tractor, two boats and a camper. More than enough to label it as a Class B Landmark.

This is the last property off this rural road. This dirt driveway is private property, so I’d like to know where the power lines are going. HTT

I was just fooling with this shot last evening. I did not like it much in the beginning because it was a last second catch while driving by. A very small area to shoot through and no real area to pull over.

The treatment was in Topaz. Great little program.

Happy Slider Sunday

Seen in the beach in the Westside Todnitzsee. (Spreewald, near Königs Wusterhausen, Germany). This little falling apart building (toilet room) might once have had glorious day. Now it’s a memory of the past, hidden in the woods.

When they leave the bottom drops out of your world.

This is not me, gladly

I admired the exterior of this house upon which the owner shook her head and invited me inside, so that I could see for myself the extent of dereliction she had to deal with. I met her mother and her daughter who worked in the health department. They lack the money needed to repair their home.

Sadly, a very common story.

Passed through Coulee City and thought I'd better take another shot of this old place.

The backstreets are one of the most interesting things in these small italian towns. I like this shot because of it's multiple layers and the typical backstreet look :)

And the walls came tumbling down

This is the old Train Station in Innisfil. It is really starting to look rough. It is a shame that lovely old building like this cannot be refurbished.

Goodstay Gardens, Wilmington, DE

A panorama I stitched together of the abandoned Highland School House ( www.flickr.com/photos/126174917@N05/51693267278/in/datepo... ). I was both really excited and unsure of how these film shots would come out, but to my surprise the exposure came out pretty good.

Shot on 35mm Fujifilm Acros 100 film with a Nikon F4 @28mm.

Some great abandoned finds today in the valley. This one was completely unexpected and a must stop the car moment as we turned a corner.

From the outside, this place looks like a church, but on the inside it was clearly a daycare center. Not sure how far back it goes, but it must be pretty old. There's an old wood stove sitting in the middle of the room once used to heat the place. I wonder how many kids got burned from that thing?... Oh, and that plaster ceiling is just about to come crashing down!!!

Also took some shots on film--to be seen later!
