في بلادنا يُقال ان الربيع يختبيء في طيّات الخريف وهذه إحدى هدايا "الربيع المختبيء" في هذه البلاد المباركة بإذن الله.

At home they say that "Spring hides within the folds of fall"! This is one of the gifts of the hidden Spring in this blessed land.

I snapped these hydrangeas just as they were changing colours. For Sliders Sunday, I added an impressionism filter in Topaz Studio. HSS!

The fall wildflowers were starting to bloom, and the insects were hurrying to gather their nectar.

There has been a drastic and alarming decrease in the number of these insects in the last 30 years. I have been monitoring the same plot of wildflowers for 34 years, and the beautiful butterflies, beetles, etc., are absent today.

Pesticides, crop monocultures, and development have taken their toll.

I made this image with my Pentax K1 and Sigma 180 macro.

Hi there,

This was a rather large dahlia that I spotted at a local park. It was quite a good season for dahlias due to the number of warm days this fall.

Thanks a million for stopping by and for leaving a comment. I love hearing from you!

Have a lovely day!

Hello there,

This past fall was quite the year for gladiolas and this is the first red one that I'd ever encountered. The red and green combo reminds me of Christmas even though there wasn't any snow on the flower stem.

Thank you for taking the time to look and for leaving me a comment! Have a lovely day!

From my fall archives: I didn't crop this too closely because I rather liked the floral b/g.

Hello Everyone!

I think Rudbeckias are lovely flowers, but I found myself asking this, "Do they always have to be yellow? Why not change the colours?" Why not?!

This rendition was accomplished via Photoshop Elements 15 and Topaz Studio (Oil Spill 1). Happy Sliders Sunday! HSS!

I captured this at a local park yesterday. Although many flowers have petered out, the late-season dahlias are still hanging in there. (Yay)!

Hello Everyone,

There were a few huge pots of Brugmansia at a local park this past year, a flower that is totally new to me. Each pot sported several of these elegant late bloomers.

Today's been the coldest day of the winter and is currently -26C/-15F and that's without the windchill added in. It's going down to -36C/-33F tonight. Yikes! So, I decided to pick a fire engine red dahlia to remind me of warmer days.

Edited with an added texture in Topaz Studio.

Hello there,

Last fall, there were many different colours of glads at one of the parks that I frequent. I think this light pink one was one of my favourites.

Hello Everyone!

I thought you might enjoy a break from leaves, so I decided to post some roses that I shot last week. I liked the contrast between the two blooms, so I didn't delete the one on the right. Winnipeg has had a few hard frosts since, so it is unlikely there is much left of these blooms. I hope to go check if the winds calm down. It has been awfully windy here lately.

Thank you so much for stopping by and for your views! I do appreciate hearing from you! Have a marvelous day!

Hi There!

It seems that the leaves are just beginning to turn colour and dried leaves are falling down here and there. Although many flowers have withered, thankfully there are still lots of flowers to brighten my world.

Edited and effects in Topaz Studio.

Many thanks for stopping by and for your comments. I sincerely appreciate hearing from you!

Chrysanthemums planted and growing indoors in the winter.

Hello Everyone!

I spotted a Jerusalem Artichoke when I was walking up a back alley recently. These are tall plants and fairly common in the fall. I haven't tried them, but their roots are edible. Jerusalem Artichokes are found as both wildflowers and garden flowers.

Hello All!

These bright little flowers were poking up from a pile of leaves so how could I not help but take a picture? They were one of the last bright blooms of the 2020 season. It is snowing right now, a real contrast from this image!

Ornamental kale is a fabulous ornamental because it lasts longer than just about anything in the garden. It even survives a few frosts. Although edible, it's bitter and used more as a garnish.

Red & White Dahlia - Lucky our Dahlias survived the drought we had this Summer. Added a little texture to the background.

It's hard to believe that dahlia season is over. This was one of the last dahlias that I'd seen this year.

A tangerine orange dahlia with red dahlias in the b/g, a rather striking combo of colours. I think the gardener did a great job at placing these dahlias in close proximity in one of the local park's gardens.

If you have helenium in your garden, you're also going to have bees, a winning combination. Helenium comes in various colours and is a late summer/early fall perennial.
