Covid lock-down series, from my archives: Last of the hydrangia as fall sets in.

Staghorn Sumac, in its autumnal prime, outshines even the brightest Sugar Maples. By the time the maples reach their peak (just a matter of a few days depending on the weather), the sumacs will have faded to a dull purple.
One of the most spectacular fall colour displays I've seen from the top of Old Blady, in Kimberley, Ontario.
Taken on my street, while walking the dogs. The colours were a little late this year, but have now reached their peak.
It's that glorious season of Fall and I am not sure if this tree is eventually going to fall into the river.
It may be southern hemisphere Canberra, but temperatures are cold enough in autumn and winter to trigger the marvelous colours on certain northern hemisphere trees planted, such as these Pistacia chinensis, the Chinese pistache.
By chance we saw and spoke with a lady who lived on the street where these trees were located and were delighted to learn it was in fact her father who had planted these Pistacia chinensis trees over 50 years ago.
Within the same genus as the nut producing tree, but no nuts on this species.

A group of five to eight (depending on the time of day and distribution around the area) American Wigeons are making a seasonal visit, and their colours are very much in synch with the seasonal reflections on the water. There are young males and females, eclipse plumage males, and a mature female - the full range of colouring and plumage for the species.
On a related note - it seems shocking to me how quickly we have transitioned from departing Warblers to migrating waterfowl. Soon the Redpolls will arrive!

Maroon Bells is called one of the most stunning outdoor settings in North America and it's on the bucket list of many photographers "with a burning desire to capture their own version of Maroon Lake" according to Laurent Martrès, from the book Photographing the Southwest. I was one of them!
We visited the area around Maroon Lake with a (at that time) obligated shuttle service from Aspen Highlands. It was very busy there indeed, but I was glad I had the chance to see all the overwhelming beauty, though it was only for a few hours.
Thank you for taken your time to visit me, comments or faves are always much appreciated!

Peak colours.
The mountain peaks of the Shikoku Range, south of Miyoshi near Mount Tsurugi and the Iya River Valley have a diversity of trees that are famous for their bright colours in the fall. Tokushima Prefecture, Japan.

There has been so much wind and rain this Autumn that the leaves seem to be on their way out extra early this year. Shot with the Trioplan 2.8 100mm.

The Fire Pit Bench 2....
In white spruce park there is a fire pit where the young people hang out after a day of Frisbee golf, they have fashioned a makeshift bench from old tree cuttings and this fall it was buried in leaves the day we were there.
