A very fake edition of FTF. Last October I joined a friend for a photo charter on the Rasender Rolland narrow gauge on the island of Ruegen. Normally I would not plan a trip to the far north so late in the year but it was a good excuse to finally visit the last "real" narrow gauge line in Germany on my list. The day was predictably gloomy but finally shortly before sunset the sun came out for two runbys.

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !!
Today is a pink or purple day at Color My World Daily and the theme at Smile on Saturday is blossoms. Well, Houston we have a problem. Mother Nature just send 25 cm of fresh snow, just for me ! I feel so grateful and blessed (and of course that is irony…). As you can imagine, any possible blossoms are covered in snow. I must admit: there wasn’t that much action going on, blossom wise, anyways. Spring is very late in Montreal and usually we will see apple trees blossom but more in the second half of May… So my today’s picture is some fake flowers on a branch. I don’t think it will be accepted but don’t you worry: I truly appreciate the group and I will be back next week ! I wish you all an amazing day and I’m soooooo looking forward to spring…
Mucho, mucho amor for you my friends !!
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!! And see you soon on Flickr !

For Looking Close on Friday theme "Not a Real One".
Its been too long since the last FTF post, so heres an extra fake one to start off. On the first week of October the meter gauge Brohtalbahn hosted a big celebration for their 120th anniversary. The railway pulled out their entire roster for operations, but to maintain an hourly schedule the services of a guest locomotive were needed. The railroad borrowed the tiny 0-6-0 Hoya from the Deutschen Eisenbahn-Vereins. The locomotive was built in 1899 for the Kleinbahn Hoya–Syke–Asendorf. After its retirement in 1965 it has moved around to various homes and in 2006 was returned to operating service. Like a small dog, the locomotive barks much louder than one would expect for its size and put on a good show departing Tönisstein.

New York Central RS-3 #8223 is no stranger to this area of the country.
After being born in Schenectady, NY, as the first RS-3 to be delivered to the New York Central in 1950, she was a common sight in the Adirondack woods of upstate New York. She eventually received a coat of Penn Central paint, as #1966, but not for long. Not being wanted by Conrail, she was handed over to do duties for the newly formed Amtrak passenger operations in 1976.
Railroad enthusiast Albert Kallfelz purchased this locomotive from Amtrak and with assistance of members of the CNY Chapter, NRHS fully restored it to operation and reapplied the classic lightning stripe decoration. For many years it served faithfully as the flagship locomotive of the Adirondack Scenic Railroad. It brought thousands of rail passengers through the beautiful state park from the city of Utica to Thendara (Old Forge) on the New York Central Railroads former Adirondack branch.
Here we find her at Thendara, NY station resting for the night after a long day of generating revenue in the woods of the Adirondacks, just like she did in 1950.
Fake train? I think not.
