Exterior from the Reichsburg Cochem. The castle has old ancestry and is believed to have been built in the early 12th century. But it is not the medieval castle you can see today. That was destroyed by French troops in 1689. What you can see now is the brain-child of Louis Fréderic Jacques Ravené who bought the ruins 1868 and had the castle (re-)built, in the Neo-Gothic style - an architectural style that tried to recreate the medieval Gothic style, often ending up looking more medieval than the Middle Ages ever did.
'Reichsburg' indicates a castle owned by the (German) emperor. Which it obviously isn't today - but the name has stuck.

Series "Touch of mist" # 6
A few days here is fog. On 21 December, the fog was very large. When the sun comes, what was white fog, transformed to yellow fog. I've never seen. I was the enchanted. I spent four hours there, as long as the phenomenon lasted.
Meanwhile the weather has turned grey and dull and it is no pleasure to create a nice shot. So I looked a little bit around on my disks to work on Summer shots. Found this one and played a little bit around.
Who knows what's lurking in the forest.....or could we give this a positive spin? Nah......most fairy tales have something bad going on, right?
