I just love faries, so I folded this one ;-)
And this Fairy is dancing on magical water in Fairy-Land to celebrate the New Year. With this dance she is sending all her magical power to us. So open your heart and see what happens...... and please..... let me know ;-)
"A fairy is a mythical creature, commonly described as anthropomorphic and feminine. The essence of great beauty, can bring gifts to newborns, can fly, conjure, wishes and has influence on the future.
The properties of a fairy vary by area and culture. For example, a fee is a fallen angel, an elemental, a ghost or even human. A fairy is sometimes small, but in other cases of normal stature. She may be a young appearance, but also that of an old woman. Fairies are closely linked with the forces of nature and the concept of the parallel world." WiKi

Gray weather outside, gave me the opportunity to play with my own picture and some backgrounds from StarColdNight, Deviantart. Brushes my own.
Not the best time of year to visit the Fairy Pools. This reflection was the best light I could get on any of my shots. The majority of the shots including the usual vista were rather flat as everything was in shadows all day.
What speaks most against visiting these pools during that time of year was the way there. I was more lucky than anything else that I didn't end up off the road as others I passed. The passing places were so deep in snow that you just had to push through at speed and hope for the best. Esprecially you had to hope that you encountered other cars only at a passing place when heading up.
On the second day we drove another 1.5 hours to see the Bonsai tree again in calmer conditions. It was definitely worth it. Just look at those gorgeous pastel colours!!

A beautiful night along the Paatsjoki river. Minus 25 degree Celcius and ever changing northern lights.
To see how the lights are changing over time, compare this image with one I previously uploaded flic.kr/p/2iwU3i9

Much like Ella mentioned earlier this week, recent rain has the fungus among us. It's also cooled things down significantly, to the point where it's possible to venture outside beyond mad dashes from one air-conditioned space to another.
This makes me one happy Karo.

A location not easy to photograph, I have been here at twice before and each time something or other means you cannot get quite the shot you are after and this day was one of those days. Also here you really need to take images in portrait mode and for some reason find it not as easy as landscape mode.
The day here was as usual on my last few holidays here and in the lakes, raining. Therefore could not get into the right spot and had to get out the sports lens. This particular image is quite far into the falls itself, sun above at this time of year and catching sunlight on the moss and rocks reflecting in the water...

Landscape on the Isle of Skye, Scotland.
It was difficult to get a 'special' shot of this amazing place on such a dull overcast day so I decided to scale a hillock and include some people in the shot for scale.
The Fairy Glen is so named for the simple reason that the area looks a little unearthly. It has nothing to do with fairies, or so they say... It's like a Quirang landslip but in miniature. The heavily worn path on left of frame climbs a little to a basalt topping of the tallest of the outcrops just here. A great vantage point I am sure but, sadly, my ankle wouldn't take the gradient. The spiral of stones is a tourist creation that the locals keep clearing away to try to keep the area as natural as possible.
I imagine in beautiful light the place looks extra magical but, under these clouds, I didn't feel like taking too many shots. I just wanted to sit upon the damp grass and soak in the peace and atmosphere of the Fairy Glen.
Enjoy!
This is the same little fairy wren I posted a day or two ago, and so is taken under the same dark conditions that resulted in ISO 25600 filling the image with noise. Fellow flickr friend Eleanor Dilley told me about Topaz Denoise, and very kindly offered to put this image through the denoise treatment. (So, this image file has been all over the place this morning!) This end result is a great demonstration of how much noise it can eliminate while retaining some sharpness. I am convinced enough to try this myself now.
Thanks again to Eleanor Dilley for her processing of the original image through Topaz!
