In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flander's fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, tho poppies grow
In Flander's fields.

Thousands of years ago, the area’s native people inhabited Antelope Island; some of their prehistoric artifacts have been found at the ranch. In modern times, the ranch house is the oldest Anglo building still standing on its original foundation in Utah.
Fielding Garr Ranch is located at Garr Springs. Indigenous people and wildlife used this water source long before Fielding Garr built the ranch.
The first permanent structure at this site was a small log cabin built in 1848 by Fielding Garr. Garr had been assigned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) to establish a ranch on the island as a stronghold for managing the church tithing herds. Within two years, Garr had expanded the ranch compound to include the adobe ranch house and other out buildings. The ranch was continually inhabited from that time until 1981.
The LDS Church operated the ranch until the mid-1870s. During this era, ranching operations encompassed the entire island. In 1869, the railroad came to Utah, and with it came the first federal surveys of the land. Because the only improvements on the island were around the ranch itself, the federal government opened the rest of the island to homesteading. By the turn of the century, most of the homesteaders had failed to prove their claims. John Dooly Sr., and enterprising businessman and rancher, purchased the entire island and a price of $1,000,000 (approximately $27,800,000 in 2018), and it became the home of his Island Improvement Company.
The ranching operation continued uninterrupted through several owners. Just after the turn of the 20th century, the focus of the ranch turned to sheep. Under the direction of John Dooly Jr., the sheep operation expanded to more than 10,000 sheep to become one of the largest and most industrialized ranching efforts in the western United States. When sheep ranching became unprofitable in the 1950s due to a failing wool market, the operation turned again to cattle. The island ranch continued to function as part of one of the largest commercial cattle operations in the state until the island became a state park in 1981.
Been trying and failing for weeks to get a sharp capture of a bee, the ones in our garden really don’t keep still long enough. Went to the woodlands yesterday and this little guy was getting drunk on nectar and didn’t seem to notice I was there, perhaps he should have used a straw like the butterflies 😂

When routine bites hard and ambitions are low
And resentment rides high but emotions won't grow
And we're changing our ways, taking different roads
Love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again
Why is the bedroom so cold turned away on your side?
Is my timing that flawed, our respect run so dry?
Yet there's still this appeal that we've kept through our lives
Love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again
Do you cry out in your sleep, all my failings exposed?
Get a taste in my mouth as desperation takes hold
Is it something so good just can't function no more?
But love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again
After failing to push this BMW 328i over the edge of the cliff, I guess in frustration, or just for the hell of it, they set fire to it. It now sits on the edge of the cliff looking out on one of the most beautiful views in Dorset UK…. who says all landscape Photographers need fluffy animals in their shots LOL!
Yamanako lake failing to reflect Mount Fuji before sunrise, I waited and waited but no reflections, eventually the low clouds obscured the peak before the sun rose, still it was worth the early rise. If it had reflected, I would have uploaded this 2 years ago, but unfortunately I'm going through archives that didn't make the cut in time.
It is hard to stay on top of all this chaos. One does not want to fail their loved ones. It seems every day is tougher. It is so hard to navigate the madness. Yet being aware of everything all the time is the only way to survive it.
Like this fence, adjustment is needed.

Luke 21:25-28 KJV And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him
Matthew 5:17-19 KJV
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Matthew 22:36-40
Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. Romans 3:31
(Just to clarify, no one is justified by keeping the law, we are saved by grace through faith and that not of ourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast. Yeshua did not come to destroy the law or the prophets, but to fulfil--establish in completeness. Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. Romans 3:31
There is much more to all this. Isaiah 8:20
To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
Revelation 19:10
For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

Matthew 25:1-13
Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
Zechariah 4:12-14
And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?
13 And he answered me and said, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.
14 Then said he, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.
Jude 1:19-21
These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.

After failing last year to get the main photo of the eagle picking up the fish. I took Martin's advice and used a shorter lens this year and succeeded. I still couldn't resist a few shots with the 500mm though.
With 46100 failing its ftr, Bullied Pacific 34046 Braunton stood in for the Rugby - Carlisle Lakelander. Amidst the Yellow Gorse on the hillside the train gets away from the token stop at St. Bees, its not often steam passes this route when the Irish Sea is hitting the coast, but with quite a late path, high tide was less than an hour away. In my own opinion this section of railway where it runs so close to the sea is one of my favourite bits of railway.
I was out late yesterday evening failing to photograph Barn Owls but I did manage some decent shots of Stonechat and Linnet as a consolation prize. Stonechats are resident birds in Britain in that they don't migrate south for the winter. This is quite unusual for an insect eater and the population is hit hard when we have prolonged snow cover. They can usually tough it out on lowland heaths where the snow does not normally last for long, but in the high moors they probably succumb. After a bad winter our hill Stonechats disappear completely, sometimes for a few years, but they gradually recolonise. At the moment they are on a population high with 65,000 pairs. Over the last 25 years the population has increased by 147% and the breeding range has increased by 48%. I was amazed at the narrowness of the old willowherb stem it was perched on. They weigh about 16g so I'm surprised it didn't snap.

Here we are
Stuck by this river
You and I
Underneath a sky that's ever falling down, down, down
Ever falling down
Through the day
As if on an ocean
Waiting here
Always failing to remember why we came, came, came
I wonder why we came
You talk to me
As if from a distance
And I reply
With impressions chosen from another time, time, time
From another time

The most prominent idea of this exhibit has been to have fun!
To forget all fears of failing and let go of my desires to be all perfectly, perfect!
Kusama came to me with her dots, dots, dots and what I admire so much in art myself; femininity, minimalism, simplicity and clean lines.
Meeting her, I knew I had to ‘play with her’ and find my inspiration in her universe for this exhibit..
Kusama has the most wonderful story to tell:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8mdIB1WxHI&list=PLsuJcaqpsvY...
Pop art is not my usual style, but Kusama pulled me in. She made my brain bubble in ideas, like a child with a hundred pastels and a painting brush.
During this process I lost my mother (RL). It was a terrible and unexpected shock for me, which has changed me forever.
For at period of time, it was impossible for me to work with the red dots and their good energy. From this the darker pictures emerged and the duality of light and darkness, which life is in itself.
♥ This with love and gratefulness to Kusama, Dix and Megan, as well as wonderful friends supporting me each day ♡

The shadows are growing long on this first day of summer just outside of Reeseville, as Canadian Pacific's westbound train 287 is about to duck under the old wooden Bobolink road bridge. This last remaining wooden timber bridge between Chicago and St Paul, is closed to traffic after failing it's inspection by the CP and will be replaced next year.

After failing to get out with the camera on Thursday and Friday due to other commitments, and working Saturday and Sunday, I decided to head out for some night time photography in Plymouth after work last night.
I picked up Louis Goldman on the way into town and having no plan we just went for a wander.
Over the weekend Smeaton's Tower has been lit up all red to commemorate Armistice Day and 100 years since the end of WWI, so remembering this we headed up to The Hoe and thankfully it was still lit up after the evening parades had finished. It was pretty windy up there last night which gave some nice movement in the cloud, giving a well photographed view a more dramatic shot.
I have no idea how long it's going to be lit up like that for, probably not for much longer, so we were lucky to capture it.

As much as I appreciated comments and feedback I would request no Awards or flashy gif comments, please. They will be deleted. Thank you.
This is another picture from last year. I took this photo at Westcountry Wildlife in Devon. In this photo, Luna the fox seemed to be trying to hide behind some long grass - although there wasn't quite enough to stop me seeing her.
On our travels yesterday Steve and I came across a waterfall that dozens of salmon were attempting to jump to continue their journey upstream to the spawning grounds.
Sometimes there were as many as 8 salmon airborne at once, we were mesmerised by the spectacle and spent far too long watching or trying to photograph the futile attempts of the salmon.
The river level was high, and I think the volume of water was as much of a problem as the height they were trying to clear. Many of the fish were jumping at the rock face and there were plenty of mid-air collisions too.
Panning at a shutter speed of just 1/20sec with focal length of 800mm, hoping but failing to get a good propeller circle. Background looks good though. Practicing on cormorants over the winter paid off in a way - this was the only usable shot out of many.
I've been without my computer for over a week due to my power supply failing and having to wait for a new to ship to me but I'm back in business as of today so I can finally get back to posting new photos. We'll start off with this shot of a Lamborghini Huracán from last Friday night in Schenley Park.

I'm stuck self-torturing
My meds are failing me
Internal clock in smithereens
Can't fix this
I'm hopeless
My eyes are stapled open wide
As I lay down on my side
I am bouncing off these walls
Notice my hands begin to twitch
Unprovoked assaulting of my conscious wit
Me and the TV are enemies
Sickening static surrounds my mind
I'm losing time
And realizing that after days of thought that
I'm stuck self-torturing
My meds are failing me
Internal clock in smithereens
Can't fix this
I'm hopeless
My eyes are stapled open wide
As I lay down on my side
I am bouncing off these walls
As I focus on the clock
Time stands still, but I cannot
I should strap myself in bed
I guess I'll sleep when I am dead

After failing to hike all the way up a path that day due to constant rain and snow, we gave up and came back for sunset. The rain stopped and the clouds opened just enough for some light to sneak in, lighting up the cliffs for a few minutes. While it was late fall, very few trees had colors on them.
After failing for find any burrowing owls in a couple places near Burns, Oregon, we started driving toward some spots where phalaropes had been spotted.
About halfway there, we found not one, but three burrowing owls standing on various stump-shaped things.
Didn't find the phalaropes though...

" Dear friends in Ukraine, dear colleagues, dear all fighting for your home at the price of your life,
We bow before your bravery, bravery in the face of nearly unbearable suffering.
We are with you as much as we are able to. All that is left to us is a lump in our throats and tears and prayers. Words have begun to lose their meaning.
Forgive us!
Forgive us for failing to protect you from a disaster unimaginable in our time.
