The inspiration for 'The Sirens Gaze' initially started from my fascination with my Starbucks coffee cup logo, of all things, which is a highly esoteric symbol of a siren. This brought me into the world of Greek mythology & the subject of sirens & their predatory seductiveness. A siren it is said would seduce sailors with their songs & promises but then bring them to their demise. I did some little sketches with some mobile photos in mind & then began arranging my elements which took on a life of its own. The seduction in this case was through the sirens gaze that is further mystified by seeing partially through the eyes of a fish to make the queri more enigmatic.

Apps used; camera+ girl, some of coral & fish r.f. Googled images others mine, textures mine. Processed using facetune, iColorama, superimpose, procreate, pixelmator & lenslight apps on iPad Pro.

New discoveries; love Pixelmators lighten & darken tools.

A worn out toothbrush for this weeks Macro Mondays Brush theme.

I tired the brush in a few locations for backdrop none of which worked very well. was going to give up then tried one last time in its natural environment, the white sink top.

I really liked the glow and hazy effect it gave the bristles and enhanced the colors.

Captured with iPhone and Olloclip Macro Lens, very lightly edited on the iPad in Snapseed and sharpened a little in a few spots with Facetune.

camera+; processed using procreate, facetune, icolorama, matter app, flowpaper, Grunge HD, & pixelmator.

Included in 12/6/15 App Whisperer Flickr showcase,

For Charlie Barlow.

This is an iPad painting, made with a beta version of #iColorama, and Facetune. I used a photograph from Charlie's collection as a source.

Camera+, slow shutter cam; proccessed using facetune, procreate, icolorama, superimpose, flowpaper, & grunge HD.

This piece was inspired by my study of the painting 'Primavera' by Sandro Botticelli which can be seen as an elaborate mythological allegory of the burgeoning fertility of the world as shown in the spring wood nymph he painted. My idea was to show this allegory as a fall scene of a modern Wood Nymph who ruled over those who now sought her for protection over the upcoming winter worlds hazardous ways. Among those was Bird whose species was soon to die out unless Wood Nymph gave the few who remained her magical attention. Thus Bird is shown enticing Wood Nymph for her protections. With this story in mind I chose from a variety of mobile photos I had taken while also thinking of apps and processes to use. I put the chosen photos in a separate album in my photo app and started working from that album to pull the photos as I saw fit. I used superimpose to extract some of the elements from their background to create PNG files that I could add from. The wood nymphs face was put through facetune & reworked with another facial profile.. I worked back and forth in procreate and icolorama adding elements & effects as needed. Grunge HD was used to show a tear in the upper portion which was then overlapped onto the lower image and the whole reworked for linear aesthetic pause. I used flowpaper to create the blueish flowing forms coming from the birds feet to entice, encircle, the wood nymph and mirror the linear tear for emphasis. Many filters were used in combining images to get the best effects and a lot of masking in icolorama. Experimenting with my images in various apps is what fascinates me the most as so many different effects can be had and aesthetic choices made as the process grows.

Impermanence and change are the undeniable truths of our existence. What is real is the existing moment, the present that is a product of the past, or a result of the previous causes and actions. Because of ignorance, an ordinary mind conceives them all to be part of one continuous reality. But in truth they are not. Cellularly & molecularly our bodies totally replace themselves every 7 yrs. & as we age this process repeats an older molecular self. What remains the same is ones soul; you cannot escape your soul, that is, if you believe in a soul.

This piece speaks to its naming; ' The Wicked Webs We Weave'. The figure is a compilation of 4 different photos, main photo from a photo shoot with mobile photo group.

3 camera+ photos, backgrounds removed in superimpose. Figure worked on in FaceTune with some added painting in Procreate. All was then combined in iColorama with parts of my real watercolor effects photographed & blended in using many blend modes with some brush work & stamped brushes from Procreate & iColorama....and many hrs. later got something acceptable./ Watercolor Salt Brush mine & made for Procreate. My Feather brushes were imported into iColorama.

camera+ ( 5 mobile photos used for manipulation). Leaves from free source were painted and added. Processed using facetune, icolorama, procreate, superimpose & lenslight.

Delving into 'Primavera' by Sandro Botticelli, based on a tale from the fifth book of Ovid's Fasti in which the wood nymph Chloris's naked charms attracted the first wind of Spring. I desired to take the theme from the laters elaborate mythological allegory of the burgeoning fertility of the world to the fall season of a modern Wood Nymph who's implications would seriously hinder that of the previous's charms to that of yielding her rule over those who now sought her for protection over the winters (worlds) hazardous ways.

Man in the Black Coat

iPhone art by Mandolina Moon

Facetune, PixRepix, Waterlogue, ScratchCam, ImageBlender, Stackables/Pentagon, Snapseed

'Used Facetune to elongate the figure. ImageBlender to add and mask layers. One layer of old peeling billboard. One layer using Stackables, Pentagon pattern, for ground pattern. PixRepix for painterly drips, ScratchCam for scratches and patina. Waterlogue to soften the background. Snapseed for fine tuning.

Having some fun with iPhone photo editing. A dragonfly wing I found on the ground inspired this composite. Apps used include superimpose, Diana photo, blender, distressed fx, ProCamera, facetune
