30 days in April 2020: a month in 30 pictures
17.04.2020
My husband has been in a nursing home since 2015 and I've visited on alternate days. Since the home went into lockdown we find trying to talk on the phone, what'sApp or FaceTime a constant challenge but we've managed a few times a week. It's not a good way to talk so sometimes, with the agreement of the manager, I just go and talk with him through the window. Social distancing doesn't begin to describe the situation.
The nursing home went on lockdown on 13th March because a man who'd been discharged from hospital to the home without testing was suspected as having the virus. Fortunately when he did get a test it was negative and to date the nursing home has refused to take any new patients from hospitals unless they'd been tested which the NHS was unable to do.
NB: I wanted to record this scene for my series but as I wasn’t all allowed in the home the picture was taken by one of the nursing staff. I’m actually the scary one with the mask peering through the window.
.... My hamster 'Sparky' doing his part during the COVID-19 Pandemic, and getting the word out, wear you face mask in public
Masks still aren't compulsory for Covid-19 here in the UK, but they are encouraged in doctor's surgeries and probably hospitals (Tim has a check up next week), so we are showing you our chosen masks that have just arrived! we have two each. I can imagine how uncomfortable it would be wearing them for long periods and we probably won't wear them very often. We've been told there is much less risk of passing anything on when just walking past someone outside in the street, so we'll just carry them with us and put one on when we are inside somewhere. They are more for us to stop giving someone else the virus than to protect us.
What are the rules in your part of the world?
They might not be worn much, but at least we're ready to rob a bank now!!

Colorado Springs, CO - This is Ann; the owner of a local barbershop. She is open for business and face masks must be warn by employees and customers at this time. She is happy to be back in business, but like all of us can't wait to get back to 'normal'.
