In this ventral view, one cannot deny the similarity of this tiny, scorpion-tailed spider to the Alien face-hugger....the parasitic lifeform that hatches from xenomorph eggs in the Alien movie franchise.
But this little spider is just 10 mm total length.
These distinctive looking Australian spiders were given their common name because they sometimes curl the ends of their abdomens upwards in much the same way as a scorpion does - but there is no venom loaded sting to this tail.
Males are much smaller and lack the extended abdomen.

Day 18 of the Month of Love
Love can take you when you least expect it
I just had to use this Facehugger (called Fleshbug) from [Krova] somewhere in this month about love - they're all about Free Hugs, right?
I'm also sporting a couple of gifts from the Valentine Shop & Hop - No_Loveletter hair by no.match and the Anti-Cupid top from ZFG.
Live size facehugger and egg.
The facehugger is inspired by the one of AL13N163NA (www.flickr.com/photos/64160018@N08/albums/72157632840630539).
The egg is 50 cm high and 35 cm wide. The Facehugger is 1 meter long.
It was exciting to come across this unique scorpion-tailed spider recently.
Arachnura higginsi is just 10 mm in length, but what wonderment in those few, tiny mm. This is a latero-ventral view, seen hanging in the centre of a small orb web in green shrubs.

This House Martin was collecting mud for its nest but I noticed it had a blood-sucking parasitic Louse Fly attached to it. The fly is in the Hippoboscidae family, which means horse herder. This species of Louse Fly is probably Crataerina hirundinis which is specially adapted for living on the backs of House Martins, and occasionally Sand Martins and Swallows. They have a flattened, aerodynamic body and hooked feet so they don't become detached as the bird flies. Their wings are vestigial, resembling long spikes, so they cannot fly, but walk readily between House Martin nests. Their mouthparts are adapted for piercing the bird's skin and sucking blood. One study showed that female flies drink 4.8mg of blood per day as they need to produce young (they give birth to well-developed larvae) while males only drink 3.5mg per day. And as bird ringers know if you try to squish one it just dusts itself off and carries on. And one final thought, if you look closely it has a resemblance to the facehugger in the 1979 Ridley Scott film Alien: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xenomorph#/media/File:Alien-The_Fac...
This mix of roots and small branches met along the way, in the shadows, around the Petit Mont-Cenis area (France) reminded me the Facehugger of the legendary film Alien by Ridley Scott... so, being myself a sci-fi fan, it looked as a nice catch, something not to be missed.

I didn't realize Alien 5 was a thing (or for that matter another Predator movie, but that's not until 2018 apparently) until Grantmasters started promoting it, so I decided to revisit the genera as my latest temporary obsession.
As such, this is just a small quick build to go with my Alien figure I built a while back. I was working to get a minifigure scaled Facehugger, and I think I largely succeeded--its a bit big, but it works. Incidentally, if anyone wants to build one, it's just six hands (it works with 4 actually, too), a Gollum arm, a jumper plate, and a 1x1 tooth plate (pointed towards the tail--which you cannot see at this angle).
I'd like to make tons of these, but like my Alien (black gun legs) I ended up using "rare" pieces, which makes it expensive to army build--didn't realize tan hands were hard to come by. Someone else get on that!
This one is to go with the Dallas I made a while ago. Ideally Kane's helmet would have a clear visor but I don't think Lego make one.

This is something I've been wanting to do for a long time.
I don't think I've posted anything more than one figure in a picture in easily 4 years - but these figures just could not be separated.
So this is Hicks from Aliens, as well as an Alien Warrior and a Facehugger. All of these are sets by G-Bricks (AKA The very talented R.Goff1) Really happy with how these turned out!
It was awesome painting these up, and I'll chat a bit more about the details here when I do tomorrow's Showcase Saturday episode for my YouTube.

But don't worry, Ensign Parker will be ok, she survived being stuck in a turbo-lift with Captain Kirk for a couple of hours so a drooling alien will be child's play!

There is a lot of interesting stuff about Bizet (please do explore). He was only 25 when he wrote Les pêcheurs de perles (‘The Pearl Fishers’) in 1863.
"One of its librettists, Eugène Cormon, admitted after the premiere that he had burdened Bizet with an ours infâme (‘squalid bear’) of a libretto."
It was this quote that gave me the idea for this shot and the new name for my bear fetish.
Dusty doesn't sing, but his friend is a bear-itone.
So this isn't exactly a pure Lego build but I just like the minimates facehugger so much that I wanted to make this. The reason this facehugger is the best, in my opinion, is that you can get a minifig head and their hair beneath it :)

There are multiple uses that can be derived from basic designs/concepts/ideas. Depending on which movie scene you'd like to recreate, the prototype cryonic chamber can be adapted to it.
The top of the chamber is the generic Lego Dimensions base for those who asked about it.

Ripley and Newt awake to find two facehuggers have been released into their locked sleeping quarters. Ripley tries to escape by smashing the reinforced glass window while the security camera looks on impassively...
So today I received Richard's Predator. And I must honestly say that this is one of the best, if not the best Predator sculpt I've ever seen. I decided to show him off in this picture without the mask because the sculpted head is absolutely stunning.
I thought it'd be nice to display my own Predator from a while ago next to his, alongside Richard's line of figures from the Alien Franchise (Namely, the Alien and Facehugger).
If you haven't picked one up yet, do so now before he runs out, it's absolutely worth the money both as a collectible and as a challenge to paint.
Dusty may not have thought things through putting his Sea Monkeys and facehugger in the same aquarium.

Got up super early today to head to Bognor Regis for a sunrise, guess what, it was a slight let down, anyway walking along the beach I spotted this cuttlefish, i used my ultra wide to get this shot with my camera inches from the water, after taking the shot I stood up my tripod then turned around to get a closer look at the cuttlefish, then boom my camera fell lens first into the sand, my lee filter ring snapped off and my lee 0.6 ND Grad got very wet and sandy.
I washed off the filter in the seawater, only option at the time but it was fine, now ive only got to glue the ring adaptor back together and all should be fine, lesson learned :-)

In this vignette, a space marine is fighting off an alien creature that has snuck aboard his ship and has no respect for personal space. This is my entry for the week 3 challenge of Greeble de Mayo 2021 in which you had to incorporate a minifig. Not only does it feature a minifig as a character, but also 4 whole droid minifigs and other minifig parts as part of the greebling, all within an 8x8x8 space.
This figure was a blast to paint. It uses mainly one color, just a metallic grey, a bit darker though. I tried my best to get the accuracy down. The sculpt is done by Richard Goff. As well as Facehugger. I’m really proud of how these turned out. Hope you guys like them as well
