Wish you were here

The custom of sending a postcard from where one is visiting seems to have died out. Certainly, it's increasingly difficult to buy a postcard. Gone are the days of searching through the carousel that displays the card for just the right one. Gone is the tiny income for photographers who created them. So now we snap a picture, just like everyone else's, cluttering up the landscape as we do so, and 'flick it' to Facehugger or whatever.

Gone also is the discipline required to write something interesting and legible in the small space allowed on the back of the card, and the foresight to have brought an address book that has all the necessary details. Aunty Maud gets her annual card, even if we never actually visit her, for instance. I could go on.

For now, feel free to print this and post it. You don't need to be in Morecambe and nobody will know otherwise. Holidaying at Great Barrier Reef? St Kitts? Ulan Bator? Worry not - I've got you covered - send greetings from Morecambe and bring friends and rellies sunshine, wherever they are!
