Under the golden light, the ARRIFANA (F92-C) powers toward the shore along the Arade River. Perched high on the cliffs, the 17th-century Forte de São João do Arade, built to defend against pirates, stands as a sentinel over the beaches of Ferragudo. This blend of working fishing traditions and Portugal's fortified heritage captures the essence of the eastern Algarve coast.
Das Großprofil der Berliner U-Bahn (U6,7,8,9,55) weist im Gegensatz zum Kleinprofil (U1,2,3,4) nur sehr wenige Außenstrecken auf. Ganz im Osten der Stadt bietet die S-Bahn-ähnliche U5 auf dem Abschnitt Tierpark-Hönow viele Außenmotive, während die U7, U8, U9 und U55 komplett unterirdisch verlaufen. Nur die U6 hat im nordwestlichen Abschnitt einen kleinen Dammabschnitt über drei Bahnhöfe verteilt, der sich im Außenbezirk Reinickendorf befindet. Aus Mitte kommend folgt hinter dem Bahnhof Kurt-Schumacher-Platz die Rampe hinauf zum Damm, auf dem die Bahnhöfe Scharnweberstraße, Otisstraße und Holzhauser Straße angelegt sind. Dann kommt bereits wieder die Rampe hinunter zum Bahnhof Borsigwerke, auf den der Endbahnhof Alt-Tegel folgt. Die so ziemliche einzige Fotostelle dieser Außenstrecke bietet zugleich eine Besonderheit, denn hier wird auf einer hohen Brücke die Berliner Stadtautobahn überquert. Dies tut hier ein Zugverband aus den Baureihen F84+F84+F90 auf dem Weg von Alt-Tegel nach Alt-Mariendorf. Neben der Betriebswerkstatt Britz ist der kurze U6-Außenabschnitt die einzige Möglichkeit, die Drehstrom F-Züge F84 bis F92 an der Oberfläche zu sehen, denn auf der U5 werden sie nicht eingesetzt (die Gründe dafür sind nicht ganz eindeutig). Dementsprechend sind diese Züge eine eher selten fotografierte Baureihe der Berliner U-Bahn.

Eerlijk, BMW is niet mijn meest favoriete merk van de afgelopen jaren. Ze brachten - naar mijn mening - zonder schaamte enkele gedrochten op de markt (i3, 2-serie Gran(ny) Tourer en binnenkort de nieuwe 4-serie onder andere). Anderzijds mag ik eigenlijk niet klagen, want ze hebben ook nog genoeg geweldige wagens. Neem de nieuwe M8 Coupé. Wat een fantastische wagen is dat geworden.

Honestly, BMW is not my most favorite brand in recent years. They released - in my opinion - some terrible looking cars on the market (i3, 2 series Gran(ny) Tourer and soon the new 4 series among other). On the other hand, I shouldn't be able to complain, because they also have plenty of great cars. Take the new M8 Coupé. What a fantastic car is that!

Journeys end for me, 37051 sits on the Up Relief in Hereford station with its short steel coil train. 15th May 1992.

This is a hand-held image of the lead ship of the Royal Navy's Type 22 Batch II specialised anti-submarine frigates, HMS Boxer, seen alongside in Alicante in Spain, in July 1986, where the crew enjoyed some much-needed R&R. I left her a week or so later, upon our return to the UK.
At this point, Boxer was in yet another year (her fourth!) as the platform for the agonisingly drawn-out trials for the new Operations Room computer system, CACS 1, (Computer-Assisted Command System 1), which Ferranti were having immense trouble getting to work. It was intended to be capable of tracking up to 500 targets, including those detected by radar, sonar and electronic support measures (ESM).
Designed for operations in the GIUK Gap or further north during the Cold War, the class proved to be an expensive liability in the 1990s when ships with guns, smaller crews and greater flexibility were required. They were all disposed-of much earlier than had originally been planned.

This is a Russian projector lens. Build is awesome. All metal and pretty heavy. It is a sharp lens. With F2, dof is just nice with a right distance and light.
This is a professional Royal Navy photographer's photo and the MoD holds copyright. I acquired a print whilst serving aboard Boxer.

Upon leaving Kiel we had a change of our published programme and turned right instead of left. This led to a very interesting week in the Baltic, running up the coastline of what was then the Soviet Union, observing various nautical and aerial activities (see my Warsaw Pact album).

On the other side of the mole from Boxer can be seen the very distinctive 'mack' of an American Knox-class frigate. Although her hull number is obscured in the image, she was the USS McCandless (FF-1084).

In Berlin Reinickendorf besteht die einzige Möglichkeit im Netz, die Züge der Typen F84-F92 an der Oberfläche zu fotografieren (ausgenommen die Bw Britz). Durch Verspätungen wurde diese Zugbegegnung am Bahnhof Otisstraße auf der Berliner U6 möglich. Während der F92 2912 Richtung Alt-Tegel einfährt, ist der F84 2758 auf dem Weg nach Alt-Mariendorf.

Mit starkem Tele-Einsatz und einer Ausschnittvergrößerung kann man vom U-Bahnhof Otisstraße die Überquerung der Stadtautobahn bildlich festhalten. Die U6 bietet die einzige Möglichkeit, die Großprofil Drehstrom-F-Züge der Baureihe F84-F92 im Einsatz an der Oberfläche zu erleben. Der "Klinkenwagen" 2732 führt den U6-Pendelzug von Kurt-Schumacher-Platz nach Alt-Tegel an.
