The largest genus of orchids with over 1500 species is also the most geographically diverse. It is found in all tropical areas on earth and is quite diverse in its flower morphology as well. The flowers have the foot of the column which is hinged, attached to the labellum so the flower has a moving part which bobs, weaves, jiggles or jumps in the slightest breeze. The petals have various shapes and sizes but are always much smaller than the dorsal sepal. The column is short, often with 2 erect horns, winged or not, base produced to a long curved foot and 4 collateral, naked pollina. They have sympodial pseudobulbs with one to two leaves, closely or far spaced on the rhizome. Most bulbos like wooden slat baskets with some treefern and sphagnum as potting media.

The Chief Executive, CY Leung, has taken part in a meet-the-public forum at a Kwun Tong secondary school. It's the second in eight days and three democracy parties held a silent demonstration outside. A pro-government group, the Voice of Loving Hong Kong, also organised a counter-demonstration mobilising around 30 people to show its support for the CE.
The event was largely peaceful though there were some minor scuffles and five men and a woman were arrested for charges including common assault and sexual harassment. Police put the number of protesters at 1,100.
However, a strong police presence restricted protesters to narrow sections of pavement near the venue; an arrangement criticised by the chairman of the Labour Party, Lee Cheuk-yan. Some of the protesters waved colonial British Hong Kong flags, as well as Chinese nationalist and Tibetan flags as a presumed challenge to the Communist Party.

Potographing the Heidelberg Copper butterfly. Probably the only rare butterfly I've seen in the wild - and I even managed to get a photo. For the record I have a Fuji f800exr compact camera.
Testing out the Toy Movie function of the FujiFilm FinePix F800EXR. The filter adds shaded borders similar to toycameras (nostalgic effect). Other modes include Miniature (blurred top and bottom), Pop Color (emphasized contrast and color saturation), High-Key (enhanced brightness, reduced contrast), Dynamic Tone (fantasy effect), partial color red, partial color orange, partial color yellow, partial color green, partial color blue, partial color purple.
