The 1991 Ferrari F40 was a lightweight, high-performance supercar with a twin-turbocharged 2.9L V8 producing 471 hp. Designed for speed, it featured a carbon fiber and Kevlar body, hitting 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds. While most were red, a few rare F40s were painted black, making them highly sought after by collectors.
A real draw of chasing the Santa train this year was no doubt the leaders. The newly painted CSX OCS is one sharp train, and I was one of many railfans who was excited to learn the OCS would be the consist. After shooting them at Copper Creek, I hustled down to the Holston river bridge, where the late afternoon lighting was absolutely perfect. For about 20 minutes the railroad photography community took over the river banks, and the road, because none of us were going to miss the opportunity to photograph this scene. CSX 1, 2 and 3 were gleaming in beautiful afternoon glow as they rolled toward Kingsport in literal picture perfect lighting.
