This lens has to be the most under rated lens in my collection. It has awesome contrast, and surprising DOF, for its aperture. I give high marks.
For the first week of ownership I mostly use the lens wide open as to try out a wide perspective combined with shallow depth of field, the result had been hit and miss, I need more practice to get the best out of this combo.
Taking pictures at f1.8 is not easy for a fast moving target. The depth of field is very thin. His hands are in focus but not his face.
testing the depth of field... i didnt bring my 450d & 50mm lense for comparison.. hmm.. project for the weekend then :)
(yes, I know that the photo is of an 18-55...this is the lens I have, which I took off to try the 35mm....)
Sort of debating buying the Nikon 35mm f1.8 lens. As lenses go, it's cheap. But it's still 200 big ones that I don't really have right now. But I guess a girl can dream - or just check it out at the camera store?

I loved the spots on this guy's chest. All the chest shots came out blurry because he was strutting around so much. I think my camera made him nervous.
Shot with 50mm f1.8 wide open to make the cage disappear.
