This image is a true oldie, it has been sleeping on my hard drive for almost exactly five years. Now that it's only a few days until Christmas, it "woke up" and demanded its place in the Flickr limelight, because even though it doesn't look particularly Christmassy (it had been pretty mild on that day, something like 12 °C), it is a Christmas image, because I've captured it on Christmas Eve 2016 from aboard a small cruising ship on our way to Vienna. There even is some cloud pareidolia to be found here, I see a weird duck and a (very human-like) eye looking upwards ;)

In post I've jazzed up the (very pastel) colours a little and did some subtle denoising, that's all. I don't know whether I will also take a special Christmas image this year, probably not. So I wish you all Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas already now. I wish you relaxed, happy days, stay safe and healthy, and take care! I'll be back for Macro Mondays' "Redux" in a week :)

This tiny orchid has been with me for about 13 years now and blooms from around October / November to March / April. Sometimes more, sometimes less gorgeous. Every year the struggle for the bare survival, because (unfortunately) it is not cared for at all. I don't know how she survives that every year?!?!

Ho sempre amato leggere.

Photo taken with a Canon FD 50mm f1.4 on a Sony A7. This is a lens I have carried for 51 years. First on a Canon F1 and then on the Sony E mount cameras I have using an adapter. I've learned quite a bit about photography since 1972. I might one day master this lens.

Auto Topcor 58mm f1.4 is great lens with load of history. Until now I almost exclusively used it to her strong sides: landscape, portraits. I was not impressed with its bokeh. It was nice, smooth, controlled, almost modern, but I prefer, kind of, the opposite.

On my last outing with this lens, I had very favourable conditions for a bokeh photography, sunshine after rain in the late afternoon.

Those are few results of my effort.

When I'm bored and feel the Desperate need to take a photo my fist instinct is to take the easiest path and set up the tripod on my back porch. I used my old Canon FD 50mm F1.4 at f11 for the four vertical shots I stitched together for this panorama.
