MEET TIGGER
Christmas is a joyful time
especially when you have cats
I have eight and all of them
watch me wearing my silly hat
they play with all the boxes
they play with all the paper
but do they want the toys I bought
no they don't; what a caper
Harry hides beneath the tree
something caught his eye
a dangling little nutcracker soldier
Harry stalks him; wonders why
what he's doing in his house
looking straight at him
“I'll have you if you turn to run”
Harry says; paw up and then
a sudden breeze; the soldier moves
Harry is swift and swings a punch
“just as well I had some chicken”
he licks his lips and thinks of lunch
Harry is autistic
every day is new to him
everything even things most familiar
are strange and scary and on a whim
he pounces on something unexpected
something only he can see
he remembers some things better than others
and I'm glad he always remembers me
when he was just a tiny kitten
well he's not much bigger now
the vet thought that he would be blinded
but I didn't agree and I knew somehow
as he scurried about like a little mouse
with so much energy and love to give
the vet said it would have been kinder to leave him
to end his life; not let him live
he was born with a shot jaw; it was hard to eat
and his mother; another stray; had abandoned him
together with his sister Chloe
who had the same problems and more within
well, I never went back to that vet again
I took them both somewhere else
a second opinion was all they needed
and love and care to restore their health
they had not learned to wash themselves
so I washed them in the Butler's sink
eyedrops for Harry to clear a bad infection
Bubbles decided to brave the stink
he became the mother they barely knew
he still curls up with them now
they burrow their heads into his warm fur
they make me smile; they make me vow
to keep them safe and free from harm
to love them all their lives
to give to them all I have to give
to make sure that they live and thrive
I carry them around like little babies
these two little mites who showed such fight
they are so loving; so sweet and small
I reassure them every day and night
they never will be very big
but they are big in other ways
big the love they give to me
big the joy they bring my days.
Their shot jaws corrected themselves over time so that now you don't really notice and they both have very healthy appetites! : 0)

Oh today’s Macro Monday and the theme is EDC. I could not leave the house without my eyedrops and my Altoids. There’s one thing missing here and that’s lipstick.

I am suffering from a serious allergic reaction to an eyedrop in my left eye and hence my absence from Flickr for the last few days.I am on the mend but recovery is slow.:-)
And, when the bottles are empty, the caps can be re-purposed as another form of Cap: so snazzy!

Thank you for taking the time to view my photo, and for the faves and comments you make, thank you!
I went back to the eye doctor yesterday and he now says there was probably some nerve damage from the glaucoma, before we got the pressure down. So it's possible I'll never be able to see well with the left eye. He says he sees no reason why the right still tires so easily, although the pressure is now slightly elevated. So now I have eyedrops for the right eye also. Hopefully I'll have time later to look at pictures. HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!!!!
And then, open your heart to let the light in, allow your eyedrops to step out of the ocean of sadness that they were forming before, let them dance in the sun light, in this pocket of light which warms them up and make them more and more alive. Open your pain to share it with others, to see it from the outside and to start healing it. This might expose you to the hatred of some people, even more hurtful and desperate that you are. Nevermind, do not even take a glance at them, just concentrate on the movement of the drops towards the light, abandon yourself to the air and the fire that bring you up towards the love for life and humanity.

Have a nice Friday!
Was able to see the ophthalmologist and received a clean bill of health from him and didn’t get scolded for not returning a bit more often. There are no major problems with my eye except that I spend far too much time in front of my monitor. It’s just a matter of not blinking enough and lack of tear production causing the irritation. Regular OTC eyedrops should solve the problem and I can now get back to taking photos. I may try to spend a bit less time on the computer, but I also enjoy playing around with a bit of graphics as well and will have to find a balance with everything.
I hope everyone is doing well and will try to slot back into the flow of things here on Flickr. Nothing earth shattering in this shot of a Yellow-crowned Night Heron enjoying a blue crab breakfast in the early morning hours on Horsepen Bayou. No way to get closer as they merely scurry away with their catch across the mud flats during the low tide and there’s no way to follow them.
Will try to catch up with everyone’s post is due time. If there is something special that I have missed during my absence, please let me know. Wishing a wonderful end to their week.

I had Lasik in February. Lasik dries your eyes out like you wouldn't believe, for months. I don't need them every hour, like I did in the beginning, but I still can't start my day without them. (FWIW, Lasik was totally worth it!)

Etta visited the Vet again today about the ulcer on her eye. Unfortunately it's not healing so we've changed medication including eyedrops that are made from her own blood! The yellow on her face was dye to make the ulcer easier to see.
one day in late May I thought Saxon's eyes look a bit funny.
About 3 years ago he had issues with reactive conjunctivitis so I booked a vet visit, and then another, and then we went to the Eye Specialist like before, however, unlike before we have a diagnosis of "pannus"
The specialist vet asks: Have you heard of pannus?
Me: nope
well, it's common in German Shepherds (and greyhounds), it requires ongoing treatment, incurable and makes him UV sensitive
I have been getting him used to wearing Doggles (also have some RexSpecs on order) and the medical treatment has definitely seen some improvement, I am ever so grateful of his tolerance, he happily takes his eyedrops every morning and evening in his stride :-)
Pill fob, contents and eye drop dispenser shot on a T-shirt background in available light. Am on the road and making do with whatever is handy. Square. Under 3 inches.
Refresh single use eyedrops - about 1 inch in height.
Photographed in front of a light box, while turned on their sides to get the different fluid bubbles. Rotated 90 degrees in post to enhance the resemblance to bottles, with Topaz filters to enhance contrast, detail, and color. I was amazed at how jagged the edges were under the macro lens - they look smooth to the naked eye!

My 13-step program. Clockwise from upper left.
1. Blank Canvas – Get a really close shave, wash with soap and water, moisturize skin and lips, then apply makeup primer. You can also use Lumify eyedrops to get rid of any redness.
2. Pluck, Tape and Beard Cover – get eyebrows as shaped as you can without looking too out of place, and give yourself an instant eye and neck lift with some good surgical tape. One of the few advantages of losing your hair, is that the tape sticks better. Use a reddish/orange lipstick to balance the color of my facial hair, and under eye bags if needed.
3. Concealer – I use two shades of concealer. A lighter one for under eyes, and areas that you want to highlight, then a medium for the rest of the areas that need some smoothing. This also includes my chest area.
4. Foundation – Apply a cream foundation evenly over your entire face, neck and as far down your chest as needed to even out the skin tones.
5. Powder – I use a light powder over everything to take away any shine, even out the tones and make it easier to apply a powder contour.
6. Contour and Brows – For me, it’s mostly shading on my jawline and neck, making my nose look narrower and highlighting under my eyes and the bridge of my nose. Use an eyebrow pencil to fill in and shape eyebrows.
7. Eyeliner – It definitely gets easier with practice. I have watched a lot of tutorials and the best one for me was Aly Art on YouTube youtu.be/3d1zD_3STdw . This is just one she does for eyes, but she has them for just about everything.
8. Eyeshadow – I think it is a smoky eye, but I don’t really know. A little dark shade at the bottom, light at the top and medium in the middle. I keep almost all the color on the outside half of my eyelid. I use whatever color I think is going to look good with my outfit, and sometimes a little pop of white on the inside corner of my eye, but that is starting to look like a 1990’s thing, I think.
9. Lashes and Mascara – I use glue on fake lashes most of the time, but sometimes it’s just my natural lashes with mascara. Another skill that comes with practice, and don’t use too much glue. It takes less than you think to hold them in place, at least if you’re just hanging around the house.
10. Lip Liner – I just slightly over draw my lips with a lip pencil that is a little darker than the natural shade of my lips. Over draw slightly more on the top, and only really in the middle of by bottom lip. It helps me not look so frowny.
11. Lipstick – This is the best part.
12. Hair, Dress and Accessories – Just kidding, this is really the best part. When it is all complete and that first look in the mirror
13. Okay, one more step. Smile! It took me a long time to get comfortable with my smile, but it is worth the effort.
