Dieser Leguan lebt im Zoo Zürich im Australien Haus.

Der Exuma Insel Leguan ist eine Unterart des Nördlichen bahamaischen Felsenleguans. Er ist auch unter dem Namen Exuma Insel Leguan bekannt. Er kommt nur auf der Inselgruppe Exuma in den Bahamas vor. Es sind bisher nur acht Subpopulationen dieser Unterart bekannt.

Die wahrscheinlich grösste Bedrohung für diese Art ist das starke Tourismusaufkommen, welches den Exuma-Wirtelschwanzleguan immer weiter zurückdrängt. Ein Feuer, das im Jahr 2004 wahrscheinlich durch die Zigarette eines Touristen verursacht wurde, zerstörte zum Beispiel grosse Teile des Lebensraumes der Leguane. Der illegale Wildtierhandel ist eine weitere Bedrohung für die Bestände dieser Art.

Männchen dieser Art sind zumeist grosser als die Weibchen.

Exumas Bahamas

9 minute long exposure out on the edge of the ocean in the Bahamas. Storm clouds were building in the distance and it was pitch black. Another instance where I couldn't see or hear anything due to the crashing ocean water on the rocks.

Strobist: 1 offhand flash from right side of frame with a red gel and 1 offhand flash from the left with no gel. General light painting on dock for shadow exposure.

I love shooting abandoned shacks. Salty sea air has a different way of eating away at the structures. Off the beautiful beaches of Exuma, near George Town, I was provided the opportunity.
