Jungfer im Grünen - Love in a mist (Nigella damascena)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Clawed clubtail (Onychogomphus forcipatus) is an onychogomphe, this dragonfly has yellow spots on the top of its abdomen alternating with black markings and not an almost continuous line as in the Gomphus genus Gomphus.

The green eyes of this pincer club make it easy to differentiate it at a distance from the hook club with blue eyes. Be careful though,

some pincers may have blue eyes, but it seems that these frequent more southern regions than Brittany or Alsace!

Here a female ..! formidable....

In many Science Fiction films the characters are made from such photos

Well, this was an unexpected shot, I was aiming specifically for the middle portion, the Stigma, the Sunlight caught the flower directly, hence my camera blacked out the background, but looking at the Sepal beyond the stem, and these yellows were literally glowing. It gave this a rather extraterrestrial feel to overall image, I hope you like.

The weather in Berlin here is absolutely scorching, 37 degrees today, I am thinking of bringing back Dark City Deutschland but we'll have to wait and see.

I hope everyone is well and so as always, thank you! :)

We do not inherit the land from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.

This is a proverb of a tribe of Native Americans today, unfortunately, disappeared because the brothers did not understand the importance of existence.

It is dedicated to them.

This photo was taken while hiking Door Trail, about 17 minutes after the last post Golden Bright.

The landscape may look extra-terrestrial or familiar to you. As dramatic, striking and unique as Badlands National Park sounds, it offers a perfect background for many movies, just to name a few:

Nomadland (2020)

Armageddon (1998)

Starship Troopers (1997)

Thunderheart (1992)

Dances with Wolves (1990)

Badlands National Park:

With the extreme temperatures (hot in summer and cold in winter) and lack of water, the exposed rugged Badlands National Park got its name from the Lakota - "mako sica" or "land bad".

The French-Canadian fur trappers called it "les mauvais terres pour traverse" or "bad land to travel through" - summers are hot and dry, winters are cold and windy, there is very little drinking water and the land is hard to travel through.

Today, the term ‘badlands’ has a more geologic definition - soft sedimentary rock clay-rich soils that are extensively eroded in a dry climate by wind and water, resulting in a topography with sharp spires, gullies, and ridges.

The unforgiving landscape makes it a great place to visit but this is not the kind of place that many would like to call home.

**************************

As always, I appreciate your visit and support and wish you a very happy Monday; be safe and be well!

The Midway Geyser Basin's Grand Prismatic Spring is one of the largest hot springs in the world, measuring approximately 370 feet in size and around 121 feet deep (higher than a 10-story building). Only Frying Pan Lake in New Zealand and Boiling Lake in Dominica are larger.

This shot was taken while we could still find our own perspective. Now have a viewing stand only. Understand why, but the view there isn't as good.

What living thing in Yellowstone has helped investigators solve crimes and NASA search for extraterrestrial life on seemingly inhospitable planets? Heat-loving microbes living in the Yellowstone’s thermal pools. In 1968, researcher Thomas Brock discovered a microbe living in one of Yellowstone’s extremely hot springs. In the years since, research on Yellowstone’s microbes has led to major medical and scientific advances, including the sequencing of the entire human genome."

Enjoy an image of the #SuperWormMoon rising above the Cascade Mountains near Seattle shortly after sunset on March 20, 2019.

This image was captured from the balcony of my apartment. Seeing the gigantic sphere of the moon rising into the otherworldly, lavender sky evoked several moments of pure enchantment.

It's also Martin Luther King, Jr. Day weekend in the States.

In addition to spearheading the Civil Rights Movement, both the leader and the holiday bearing his namesake have a special, exclusive significance for residents of Seattle and King County, Washington (that's a clue!) which you can read about in my blog article: "Legacy of a King". #MLKDay

The White Mountains of Arizona are a mountain range and mountainous region in the eastern part of the state, near the border with New Mexico; they are a continuation from the west of the Arizona transition zone–Mogollon Rim, with the Rim ending in western New Mexico. The White Mountains are a part of the Colorado Plateau high country of Northeast Arizona, the Navajo Nation, with the rest of the Plateau in eastern Utah, northwest New Mexico, and southwestern Colorado. Nearby communities include Show Low, Pinetop-Lakeside, Greer, St. Johns, Springerville, Eagar, and McNary. Much of the range is within the Fort Apache Indian Reservation.

The highest summit is Mount Baldy, with an elevation of 11,400 feet (3,475 m). The mountains are drained to the south by several tributaries of the Salt River, and to the north by the Little Colorado River. There are several small lakes.

The part of the White Mountains outside the reservation is in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests.

The White Mountains are the location of the 1993 motion picture “Fire In The Sky”, a true story of five Arizona loggers accused of committing a hoax or murderous crime after they report a crew member’s (Travis Walton) mysterious disappearance and possible alien abduction, occurring in 1975.

If you haven't ever seen the movie Fire in the Sky you should give it a try. I saw it a long time ago when it first came out but watched it again last night on Prime. The loggers are from Snowflake, about 30 miles from here and the incident happened in our back yard :)

Fire in the Sky is a 1993 American science fiction horror drama film[4][5] directed by Robert Lieberman and starring D. B. Sweeney, Robert Patrick, James Garner, Craig Sheffer, Scott MacDonald, Henry Thomas, Peter Berg, and Kathleen Wilhoite. Set in 1975, it follows a group of loggers who witness a UFO in the forests of northern Arizona, resulting in a member of their crew disappearing. After the missing man resurfaces five days later, he claims to have been abducted by extraterrestrials. The screenplay by Tracy Tormé is based on Travis Walton's book The Walton Experience (1978), documenting Walton's alleged experience of alien abduction.[6] Walton and his wife make cameo appearances in the film.

Anyway worth seeing :) Lot of history in these mountains. Also home to wild horses but they have moved on to greener pastures because of the drought we are going through. Lot of lava beds in this area from the volcano eruptions. I was hoping these interesting clouds would bring some rain on this day but they didn't. Maybe tomorrow .......

They have landed! Extraterrestrial first!!!

What if it turned out that extraterrestrials lived right here on our planet? How would we react? What if they were highly advanced and could solve our problems of energy, hunger, poverty, and disease? Would we accept their help or turn them away and start a war with them.

Its time for people to wake up on this planet. We are in trouble. Just look around to see what I mean. Are we going to roll over and play dead or stand up and be counted? The future is yours; what kind of future do you want.

One last mushroom photograph before i get back to landscape.

With this little cutie here i tried to make it glow with a lamp. Looks a bit like an alien to me. Ha ha.

A portion of an exercise ball for hands, which in total has a diameter of 3 inches. I wanted to do a focus stack but "computer says no"! It keeps locking up so I used the Dehaze slider to make it glow a bit instead. Now you can't see which "teat" is in focus.

Of course, this is neither the landing of extraterrestrial spacecraft nor an exoplanet; rather, it is more accurately described as a color-enhanced infrared image.

The Maggiore Theatre, also known as the Multifunctional Events Centre (CEM), is a cultural establishment situated in Verbania.

When the beings first emerged that night in their amorphous forms, most of the people there felt peaceful and serene and they cheered the arrival. But the scene quickly turned to one of sheer terror as the beings began to take on a more defined shape.

... Yes, evidently Mrs. Krach and I were abducted while traveling down this highway on our way to Yosemite National Park. I do not remember it happening, remarking that it was a shame we were not abducted when we made it across safely ...

I THOUGHT ...

That was until I downloaded all of my images from the trip and low and behold there was this one that I DO NOT REMEMBER TAKING!!!

I remember passing this location as we entered the highway, but it was the middle of the day, not night.

... the truth is out there, even on Happy Sliders Sunday ;)
