The 1st running of the Kildalkey GAA 5KM Road Race and Fun Run was held at Kildalkey Village, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 4th November at 12:30. For those runners familiar with the annual Meath 5 Mile Road Race Championships this 5KM race shared the roads with the well known 5 mile course. The race started on the Ballivor Road and proceeded out towards Athboy and turning around back through the forest on the straight road back to Kildalkey village for the finish. There was about 150 participants in the race. The course was very well marshalled and marked out. The after-race refreshments were provided in the parish hall with hot soup and sandwiches available.
Overall this was a fantastic first effort at the race - the community turned out in force with many members of the GAA club taking part in the race.
