My research examines how the maintenance and adaptation of water pumps in At-Bashy have influenced external water access beyond households. It also explores the multifaceted concerns driving the “3Rs” phase in the post-Soviet era and its impact on the technical efficiency, accessibility, sustainability, and long-term viability of local water systems in At-Bashy. The images show contemporary picture of water pumps and the discussions that significantly influence human interactions and decision-making processes in water-related practices, with broader implications for social science and environmental studies. In this way, examining both Soviet-era and post-Soviet water pumps, sheds light on the intricate relationship between materiality and human agency and illuminates the dynamics underlying infrastructure development in striving to resurrect and revitalize infrastructure to support within the district.
on the king lane side there are two small towers. the story goes they were added at the last minute so the teachers could do air raid observations during the forthcoming war. i don't know if that's true but it's a good story.
i struggled to get a picture as the fencing for the building site was right behind, but i kind of like this angle anyway

According to Eusebius of Caesarea, the Roman emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century AD built a temple dedicated to the goddess Venus in order to bury the cave in which Jesus had been buried. The first Christian emperor, Constantine the Great, ordered in about 325/326 that the temple be replaced by a church. During the building of the Church, Constantine's mother, Helena, is believed to have rediscovered the tomb. Socrates Scholasticus (born c. 380), in his Ecclesiastical History, gives a full description of the discovery.
Constantine's church was built as two connected churches over the two different holy sites, including a great basilica, an enclosed colonnaded atrium with the traditional site of Golgotha in one corner, and a rotunda, called the Anastasis ("Resurrection" in Greek), which contained the remains of a rock-cut room that Helena and Macarius identified as the burial site of Jesus.
