Male Pileated Woodpecker hard at work exterminating the bugs in my yard. Bill's Backyard Bird Blind.

The great crested grebe is a delightfully elegant waterbird with ornate head plumes which led to its being hunted for its feathers, almost leading to its extermination from the UK. They dive to feed and also to escape, preferring this to flying. On land they are clumsy because their feet are placed so far back on their bodies. They have an elaborate courtship display in which they rise out of the water and shake their heads. Very young grebes often ride on their parents' backs. What they eat: Mainly fish (Courtesy RSPB).

A rare sight in the UK !
The Ruddy Duck should have been exterminated by now in the UK, hunted down and shot at a cost of roughly £3,000 a bird. If you see one you are supposed to report its position so it too can be eliminated.
Peak numbers 20 years ago were 6,000 birds – that was down to 26 in 2018 and now there may be as few as 10 to 15.
This is part of a Europe-wide programme aimed at preventing the enthusiastic males impregnating the closely related but endangered white-headed duck, Oxyura leucocephala, of southern Spain. That species was down to 22 birds in 1977 but thanks to careful conservation now numbers more than 2,500.
The Ruddy Duck was brought to Slimbridge, Gloucestershire in the 1940s from North America and thrived, with numbers growing steadily across Europe until the danger to white-headed ducks became apparent. In a rare spirit of European cooperation every colonised country agreed to a cull, aiming at total elimination. The British effort alone has cost £3.3m, mostly to hire the marksmen.
It has been a controversial programme, with many nature lovers appalled at the idea of shooting sitting ducks on their nests. Some bird spotters have therefore been reluctant to report sightings, so there may still be some survivors.
Update 12 .01.2022 : I understand that the duck has now been shot by Defra, so sad.

I created the woman and wall in DDG Text 2 Dream Ai, then layered it over a color-inverted and mirrored and flipped version of Robbi's source at 38%, then applied Topaz Studio look "Pony Espresso" over all and made color changes. All modifications were done in beta PS 2023 except the final filter.
Thanks for your visit, faves, and kind comments.
Way Down We Go...
Isaiah 13:9 “Behold, the day of the Lord is coming, cruel, with fury and burning anger, to make the land a desolation; and He will exterminate its sinners from it.”
This succulent was by itself in a sunny back section of the Garden. I asked someone with a badge (but a bowling shirt) who said, "I'm new to RBG and succulents, but the one thing I can tell you is that it's not an Ice Plant. I live in Arizona, and I have seen them there ... although sparsely."
A passerby then interjected, saying, "I've always called it a Bottle Rocket because that's what I imagine you'd see at the moment one goes off ... provided it didn't blind you!"
Good enough for me because it is perhaps the showiest (garish? gaudy? glaring?) succulent flower I've ever seen. In California, Ice Plants were favored by our Highway Department because they are native to coastal regions of South Africa where the climate is identical to ours. Ice Plants, which again this isn't, lost favor (except with exterminators) for home gardens about 60 years ago when it was found to be a rat's ideal place for breeding and rearing little rodents ... several times a year.
I gave the world a week to tell me different and, hearing nothing (maybe I should have asked), I hereby declare this to be the wild Bottle Rocket Succulent with the Latin name, Gymnocalicium utrem erucae!
If nature isn't fun, you're doing something wrong!
Riverside TV Studios and theatre. Hammersmith, London. Not sure if this is the same Dalek I've seen at the BBC studios in central London and they move it around or they have two.
The bears will be exterminated as they were exterminated in the 19th century. Human beings have made no progress in their relationship with animals. The Earth is ours, only ours as humans: this is the common feeling.
Now in Trentino (Italy) it has also been decided to kill M90 (Sonny) and 8 other bears every year.
A protest demonstration is planned in the square in Trento for Saturday 4 February.
Man, you will be alone on Earth, having destroyed it and left nothing for future generations. Profit here and now: this obviously matters to people.

Just another shot. I took a boatload of pictures the other day to post these coming weeks. I'm on Christmas break until the second week of January, so expect a lot from me. -Matthew
Sorry - they just reminded me of Daleks. And for those who are not familiar with Daleks:

When I saw Snugbury's hay sculpture this year I was so excited. I'm a huge Doctor Who fan and the Dalek's we're always my favourite.
I'd been meaning to do it from the moment it was put up but the weather just wasn't right, Then Phil and Carl text me to go and do it and the weather was perfect.
Did face a few problems when we got there. There was a giant light illuminating it, not good for a star trail, so we set looking for a plug to turn it off, then it comes to life "EXTERMINATE!" starts moving it's head and lighting up. Scared everyone, but was a laugh, and not being too subtle at the same time.
So having to kee 10ft away at all times, I put a microfibre cloth over the light and we got trailing. This was 1 hour long.
Really happy with the result, such a unique subject.
Enjoy!

Radogoszcz station (German: Bahnhof Radegast) is a historic railway station in Łódź, Poland. The station, which was originally built between 1926 and 1937, was used extensively during The Holocaust. It served as the Umschlagplatz for transporting Jews from the Łódź Ghetto to the extermination camps during Operation Reinhard. The "loading platform" is in Marysin, a neighbourhood in the city's Bałuty district.

My Effort for Macro Mondays on the theme of "Made of Metal" - you can't get any more metal than a Dalek
Tatanga Mani
With the arrival of the white man in their lands, the Native Americans lost their land, lost the right to celebrate their religious ceremonies, saw their sources of survival destroyed and exterminated (the bison were exterminated on purpose).
"THERE IS A LOT OF INSANITY in your so-called civilization.
Like fools you white men run after money, until you have so much of it, that you cannot live long enough to spend it.
You plunder the forests and the land, you waste natural fuels, as if no generation would come after you that needs all this just as much.
You always talk about a better world, while you build more and more powerful bombs, to destroy the world you now have."
