The great crested grebe is a delightfully elegant waterbird with ornate head plumes which led to its being hunted for its feathers, almost leading to its extermination from the UK. They dive to feed and also to escape, preferring this to flying. On land they are clumsy because their feet are placed so far back on their bodies. They have an elaborate courtship display in which they rise out of the water and shake their heads. Very young grebes often ride on their parents' backs. What they eat: Mainly fish (Courtesy RSPB).

I created the woman and wall in DDG Text 2 Dream Ai, then layered it over a color-inverted and mirrored and flipped version of Robbi's source at 38%, then applied Topaz Studio look "Pony Espresso" over all and made color changes. All modifications were done in beta PS 2023 except the final filter.

The bears will be exterminated as they were exterminated in the 19th century. Human beings have made no progress in their relationship with animals. The Earth is ours, only ours as humans: this is the common feeling.
Now in Trentino (Italy) it has also been decided to kill M90 (Sonny) and 8 other bears every year.
A protest demonstration is planned in the square in Trento for Saturday 4 February.
Man, you will be alone on Earth, having destroyed it and left nothing for future generations. Profit here and now: this obviously matters to people.

When I saw Snugbury's hay sculpture this year I was so excited. I'm a huge Doctor Who fan and the Dalek's we're always my favourite.
I'd been meaning to do it from the moment it was put up but the weather just wasn't right, Then Phil and Carl text me to go and do it and the weather was perfect.
Did face a few problems when we got there. There was a giant light illuminating it, not good for a star trail, so we set looking for a plug to turn it off, then it comes to life "EXTERMINATE!" starts moving it's head and lighting up. Scared everyone, but was a laugh, and not being too subtle at the same time.
So having to kee 10ft away at all times, I put a microfibre cloth over the light and we got trailing. This was 1 hour long.
Really happy with the result, such a unique subject.

My Effort for Macro Mondays on the theme of "Made of Metal" - you can't get any more metal than a Dalek
Our trip to Majdanek Extermination Camp on the outskirts of Lublin proved emotional as you might expect. Certain sights such as this accommodation hut filled with shoes really brought home the scale of the horrors that were carried out there in a way that reading about the statistics can't.

From Wikipedia, 'Majdanek or KL Lublin was a Nazi German Extermination camp established on the outskirts of the city of Lublin during the German occupation of Poland in World War II. Although initially purposed for forced labor rather than extermination, the camp was used to kill people on an industrial scale during Operation Reinhard, the German plan to murder all Jews within their own General Government territory of Poland.
The camp, which operated from October 1, 1941 until July 22, 1944, was captured nearly intact, because the rapid advance of the Soviet Red Army during Operation Bagration prevented the SS from destroying most of its infrastructure, but also due to ineptitude of commandant Anton Thernes who failed in his task of removing incriminating evidence of war crimes. Therefore, Majdanek became the first concentration camp discovered by Allied forces.
Also known to the SS as Konzentrationslager Lublin, Majdanek remains the best preserved Nazi concentration camp of the Holocaust.'

say the daleks....Years ago (like 40+) the producers asked kids to write new episodes of Dr. Who. The results proved too violent to produce.
A squad of T-800s is eradicating a xenomorph nest. But with that acidic blood splatter they need to be careful.
Personally I found this shot really difficult, there's a lot going on and I had trouble getting a decent angle.
Winspit Quarry,

Winspit is a disused quarry on the cliffs near Worth Matravers in the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset, England that is no longer in use. To the west and east are the hills of West Man and East Man.
Until around 1940 Winspit was used as a stone quarry, providing stone for buildings in London. During World War II it was used as a site for naval and air defences. After the war the caves were opened to the public. They were used as a location for the planet Mecron II in the Blake's 7 episode "Games", and in Doctor Who they were used in the story "The Underwater Menace", and then as the planet Skaro in the serial "Destiny of the Daleks", the quarry's stone cottage and two other larger buildings, (which were just empty derelict shells, with their roofs missing), were used in "Destiny", they were transformed into the external ruins of the long abandoned Dalek city and disused Kaled Bunkers. Later for the 2012 Disney film John Carter it was used as the scene location for the "Orkney Dig". The quarry is now a lesser-known tourist attraction. Recently many of Winspit's caves have been closed off for public safety and bat conservation.
Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp was the largest camp in the Third Reich. According to historical investigations, 1,5 million people, among them a great number of Jews, were systematically starved, tortured and murdered in this camp.
Auschwitz - Birkenau is the symbol of holocaust and humanity's cruelty to its fellow human beings in the 20th century.
In June 2007, The World Heritage Committee has approved Poland's request to change the name of Auschwitz on UNESCO's World Heritage List. After international consultations, the property, listed as "Auschwitz Concentration Camp" in 1979, is to have the title of "Auschwitz Birkenau" and the subtitle of "German Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp (1940-1945). July 2nd 2007 was also the 60th anniversary of oppening Auschwitz Museum.
