Taken on a Canon EOS 5D Mark 3 DSLR coupled to a vintage M42 mount Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 2/58 (Silver semi-automatic preset version with 10 blade aperture). An M42 9mm extension tube incorporated. Shot hand-held @ 2.0 with reflected side-lighting utilized. Apart from RAW conversion and the most basic of edits, image taken as is. I love my Biotar..

I bought it in Nepal. We came to a small remote village of Tibetian refugees. It was really sad: people cannot go back home, and the chance to get a job and a better life in Nepal are close to zero. I bought a few travel souvenirs.

"My art is an extension of myself, a third hand that serves my thoughts and dreams to the world. It is dark and I happily use the word creepy, yet it can also be whimsical and sad and surreal. These words do not define the process, simply the end result. What we are is more than what everyone sees when the process is complete."

I visited the darker side of my imagination this week and it felt good. That old feeling came back, the creeping thought of "should I share this?" and I was immediately at peace, happily moving forward with a self-portrait that calls to mind earlier works while pairing it with a new environment.

I won't include an explanation of this image at this stage, because it will become obvious with the next couple of images that I post. For the time being, I hope you also enjoy the colour abstraction as I did.

Aaron and I decided to try out a skate shot. Other than my kid's soccer game I havet picked up the camera much. I wanted to use a light but too lazy to take anythign else out so I decided to break out the ringflash. I knew I wanted to get wider angle shot, but the issue if you use any small primes on the ring flash you end up taking a pic of the barrel of the ringflash. I had to use a 1.4x kenko extension on the 24mm. I posted a setup shot on instagram. We plan on doing another proper skate shot soon.
