Pelecanus occidentalis, Pelícano, Brown Pelican (Rc: Residente Comun)
El Pelecanus occidentalis, comúnmente conocido como el Pelícano Pardo o Pelícano Café, es un ave marina costera grande y de color oscuro, caracterizada por un pico sobredimensionado y una distintiva bolsa gular (garganta) extensible. Es la única especie de pelícano que caza zambulléndose en picada desde el aire hacia el agua.
Características Físicas
Tamaño: Generalmente miden entre 1 y 1.37 metros (3 a 4.5 pies) de largo, con una envergadura alar de alrededor de 2 metros (6.5 pies) o más.
Plumaje: Los adultos son típicamente de color marrón grisáceo con el vientre negruzco, la cabeza blanca y un tono amarillo pálido en la corona. Durante la temporada de cría, la parte posterior y los lados del cuello adquieren un color marrón rojizo oscuro o castaño intenso.

Se posan en elementos costeros como playas de arena, lagunas, espigones, muelles e islas pequeñas y aisladas para evitar depredadores terrestres.
Alimentación: Son expertos buceadores en picada, localizando cardúmenes de peces pequeños (como lacha, arenque y anchoas) desde hasta 21 metros (70 pies) en el aire antes de zambullirse de cabeza para aturdir y recoger a su presa. Luego drenan el agua de su bolsa antes de tragar el pescado.
Estructura Social: Son aves muy gregarias, viven en grandes bandadas durante todo el año y anidan en colonias, a menudo en islas.
Vuelo: En vuelo, son elegantes, generalmente volando en formaciones en V o en líneas únicas justo por encima de la superficie del agua, con el cuello recogido hacia atrás sobre los hombros.

Tematyka spotkań obejmuje również zagadnienia przeznaczone dla specjalistów IT i wszystkich, którzy dopiero rozpoczynają swoją przygodę w barwnym świecie technologii Microsoft. Konferencja IT Academic Day na Politechnice Łódzkiej odbyła się 24.11.2010 r. Dla uczestników była to doskonała okazja do zgłębienia wiedzy z dziedziny informatyki oraz nowoczesnych technologii. Studenci mieli możliwość poznania przedstawicieli firm, które w przyszłości mogą stać się potencjalnymi pracodawcami.

Ens proposem, per tant donar a conèixer a tots els ciutadans els espais de l’Escola d ’Arts i l’equip de professionals que tenen al seu abast. En definitiva es tracta de fer extensible la participació en el llenguatge artístic a tot aquell que hi tingui certa curiositat i interès, fent caure, sempre que sigui necessari, qualsevol mena de prejudici i de tòpics que envolten en moltes ocasions l’art i la
seva pràctica.
L’Escola d’Arts no deixa de ser un espai públic, i per tant troba el seu sentit en l’ús que d’aquest en facin els ciutadans als quals
pertany. Convidem per tant a tots els ciutadans que se n’apropien i l’utilitzin , aprofitant les possibilitats de formació que s’hi
ofereix a partir de la feina dels diferents professionals que treballen, en definitiva al servei de tots nosaltres.

From an aesthetic standpoint we prefer a bio-mechanical look, while from an industrial standpoing we conceive of the jont being produced in rapid prototyping and made available via ftp download (or as actual parts from Shapeways) as an open source, low-cost method of space formation for rapid deployment.
The manufacturing of the joint could be via low-tech sand casting, direct to metal rapid prototyping or via more mass-production technologies. With one simple, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) we can optimize the joint for an active performative connection for its respective location and function.
We imagine extra room in the joint for fit-up, or even pass-trhough sleeving of pipe within the joint for Waterloo-type adjustability.
