On Valentines Day we went to Oriental Expressions in Wollongong and saw a sign at the door which advertised their upcoming Chinese New Year Lion Dance on February 18th. We went back and enjoyed a platter of chinese new year entree dishes with a fantastic lion dance and martial arts exhibition by Southern Crane Martial Arts (Beaton Park, Gwnneville based). Here are but a few of the many photos taken with my new Fujifilm Finepix s9600 (s9100 in the USA) camera which I purchased on February 16th.

To support the documentation of the Hudhud and Alim epics of the Ifugao people, two traditions passed down orally from generation to generation and recognized by UNESCO as masterpieces of the intangible heritage of humanity. The project, which involves the audiovisual recording of chants and their transcription and translation into three languages, builds upon an AFCP project funded in 2007 to support the preservation of the Banawe rice terraces, a World Heritage Site.

Expression - Heads by Sophie Cave
The head sculptures in Kelvingrove were designed by Sophie Cave of Event Communications Ltd. There are 95 heads, with four different expressions.

Isn't her expression priceless? She was out and about exploring her new neighborhood, no doubt a lot more interesting then her huge luxurious yard she managed to escape from. I coaxed her to follow us home and hang until hers would return from work. She was a delight. I came across this shot while checking on all of this year's images. I had posted then a different version, but she is just too 'kurlig',
