Description

Raindrops falling in slow motion...

They danced with such a rhythm.

They moved with such a grace,

as though meditating in sanctum,

They filled the airspace.

They performed their ethereal ballet,

to the winds' orchestrated cadence.

With nature's unique cachet,

enrapturing me in transience.

Willing time, to standstill a moment,

shivering, I watch them waft around me.

Lost listening to their mordents,

unconsciously pulling close my chamois.

Devouring, with my eyes for maws,

Oh! what a magical sight that was!

exploring Montevideo streets on a hot and humid afternoon. a lot of beautiful buildings and gardens and most are gated, some have high walls.

I ran into a number of feathered creatures during my walk in the 'hood yesterday.

This feathered friend was exploring the breakwater rocks because much of the beach has been eroded away by heavy waves.

If you could only, say what you need to say.

Clickage right about NOW.

I captured this unusual bloom in the Butterfly Hollow exhibit at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens. I'm not sure what kind of bloom this is (hopefully someone knows).

Like yesterday's shot, my imagination is running wild with what this could resemble. I see an alien like character reminiscent of the droids (the white part) or Queen Amidala in her royal dress from Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace.

Thanks for looking. I appreciate feedback!

Belted Kingfisher perches between fishing strikes. But, I didn't catch any of them. Too FAST!!!!

Windy conditions so I chose a high ISO to give a fast shutter speed. The result ws inevitably grainy but not distractingly so.

WOW, the 2nd day continually in explore, i was really surprised. In fact, I'm not really satisfied with this one. Lots of reasons, not familiar with this camera and lens, there's no sunlight and cloudy, blablabla. Just the emotional impulse when I receive the lens from the postman, and place it on the A7 then go out to shot in front of my office. But now, I have more courage to try more shot topics with different lens and camera. A7 is really a nice camera. And also, the Patacon is a good mate with this body.Let's give it a good try to let this old lens alive with our digital camera. Thanks for adding this to your favorite, again.

My friend Michael Naimark is exploring new ideas for virtual reality experiences, in collaboration with Google and other researchers. To discuss this work, we got together with two other colleagues, Steve Gano and Jim McKee -- with whom we worked at the Apple Multimedia Lab in the eighties, pushing the envelope on related questions.

We started with a tour of the historic Sentinel Building in North Beach, home of American Zoetrope -- where Francis Coppola worked on many cinematic masterpieces like The Godfather and Apocalypse Now. We checked out the underground screening room and sound mixing room where some of that work took place, then headed upstairs to Michael and Jim’s studios, for a wonderful conversation about the new VR frontier.

Michael and his colleagues are researching how people are represented in virtual reality. Their first experiment at Google’s “Big Chairs” Park led to some helpful guidelines on how to film people for VR, by using different camera angles and distances.

They’re also investigating ‘hyper-images’ that resemble a group of people, but that are shot at different times and composited together to create both ‘credible’ and ‘incredible’ pictures. To enable more experiments like these, Michael is developing ‘IMU VR’, a new type of camera that could make it easier for communities to tell their stories in VR. More on this later.

It was great to reconnect with my colleagues and brainstorm these ideas together. It felt like the good old days, and the creative juices were flowing all over again ...

This is a double duty picture. I will enter it into Feathery Friday's bragging thread contest and I have been tagged a couple times recently. So here are 10 facts:

1- I am 50 and have no problem telling people my age!

2- I am married to a great guy for 27 yrs now; we have 2 adult sons, 21 and 20.

3- My little boy is Casper, a Bichon. He has been at my sister’s house 2 hours away for almost a week. I cant wait to see him tomorrow. I am having Casper withdrawals!

4-I am a registered nurse.

5-I lived in New Orleans for 12 yrs as a kid. We had 2 1/2 feet of water in our house from Hurricane Betsy-you don’t forget something like that!

6-I have been in 13 different countries in my life so far; since 13 is an unlucky number I need to go somewhere new! :-)

7-I have never seen the Grand Canyon..... there is so much here yet to see.

8-Unlike Sue (SavingMemories, one of the people who tagged me) I LOVE

chick-flicks!! I do not like real scary movies-they scare me too much!

9- I can’t spell, and have terrible grammar. I don’t like that about myself....as I said in #1, I am 50. At least there is google dictionary I can go to for help.

10-I love to laugh.

I took Mini-me on a brief adventure today :3 Do excuse the intense spam as of late ^^;

Shot for Iron Photographer 109 project. This time, the components of the photo are: a self portrait, a box and "OMG blur". Crazy as usual - the OMG blur is really awesome. You should check out what the other members came up with here. I'm looking forward to trying some more shots for this project.

One of last nights star trail shots over at Hadleigh Castle in Essex. I had several missed opportunities in the past week where I couldn't get out to take advantage of clear skys so last night I dropped my friend Russ a quick text to see if he fancied sitting in a damp field for a couple of hours and surprisingly he said "yes.....sounds like fun". We arrived at 10.30pm, greeted by cloudy skys :( Luckily these cleared away quite quickly. We were joined briefly by some yoofs who painted a bit of their own light into the image. I don't think they realised we were there as shortly after I'd fired up the floodlight they disappeared.

The light was provided by a remote area lighting product, borrowed from the office, which was a past design job for one of our clients.....and it was bloody awesome. It's LED based so it provided some nice blue light - it was switched on for a few seconds in one of the exposures to paint some light onto the brickwork.

With my previous attempts in the garden I hadn't encountered the problems of condensation on the lens. About halfway through the 50mins shot time the lens started to fog up, obscuring the castle. Luckily the trails still shone through (but gradually fade out). I think this actually adds quite a nice (accidental) effect.

I somehow managed to capture Russ motionless in one of the 30 sec exposures so I kept him in the composition......I think he adds something good to the image, silhouetted on the horizon. I had wanted to include the north star in the shot but I couldn't get round to the right spot - the hill that the castle stands on dropped away rapidly fairly close to where I was standing.

After a few hours in the cold & damp I had quite a few shots to work with so at 1.10am, several coffees down and a flat camera battery we headed for home.

Image comprised of 99 (max shots available on continuous shooting with Nikon cameras) 30 second exposures overlaid to show the spin of the earth reflected in the star trail movement. Bit of work in photoshop to adjust contrasts to enhance the trails and to overlay layers.
