Straw flowers are among my favorites. They are everywhere around here, and not spectacular in any way, but somehow pretty and attractive. In the evening light around sunset these guys seemed to be glowing.

Saw this and could not stop the car quickly enough, grabbed the camera and this is the result. I have not seen that many examples of this. I did love it, though not sure the picture did it justice.

The Darran mountain range lies beneath the Homer Saddle. The Homer Tunnel was dug by hand and took 18 years to complete.

In truth, I should have waited for better light but I couldn't wait to try out the latest acquisition. This is THE first shot with the new kit, the d850.
Now for a real trial out, a road trip .... to stock up on essentials before the supermarket shelves are empty.
Nothing happens when you sit at home. I always make it a point to carry a camera with me at all times… I just shoot at what interests me at that moment.

A finding on a walk with our dog through the medows trying to test a new macro lens. Looks like a sawfly (symphyta).
In a group of goslings there always seems to be one little adventurer who loves to explore everything, knows no fear and often ventures quite far away from his / her family. I hope that the parents still keep an eye on their little explorer, even if the golf course where this gosling lives is safer than most other places.
