Initially was a soccer player not even thinking about track and field. After getting cut from the high school soccer team, in which I probably should have made, I wasn’t going to do anymore sports for the rest of the spring semester. It wasn’t till the high school track coach asked me if I wanted to do track and be a member of the relay team.

During one track workout, I asked if I could go try the Javelin. Only one senior was out there throwing at the time and showed me the basics on how to throw. My very first throw was better than his all time best. That year I won the Grade 9 OFSAA track and field championships in the javelin, breaking a 30-year record by almost seven metres. From then, I focused more on javelin throwing, which brought me here today.
