Cherry blossom season has started in my neighbourhood near Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
About this photo: I enjoyed a walk in my neighbourhood today and bumped into this street lined with beautiful blossoms. Cherry blossom season has arrived here in Vancouver, BC, Canada. We get to enjoy different types of cherry blossoms from now until the end of April. I can't wait to go find some more cherry blossoms in the next few weeks. In the mean time, I hope you will enjoy this photo I took today of these pretty trees full of blossoms.

Some information of Vancouver:Vancouver is known as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Vancouver is Canada's third largest city and is located by the Pacific Ocean on a peninsula surrounded by water and in the distance there are the mountains. Vancouver is considered a pretty clean and safe city with a great variety of shops, museums, theatre, outdoor activities (hiking, walking, kayaking, sailing, skiing on the local mountains in the winter) and more. Walking around Stanley Park is a favourite thing to do for tourist and locals alike. This beautiful park extends from the city centre of Vancouver almost to the North Shore. With wonderful views of the mountains and the ocean around every corner, downtown Vancouver is one of the most picturesque cities in the world. Walk along Robson Street, the most popular shopping street. Experience Chinatown with the different kinds of building and stores, walk on the beaches of English Bay and the seawall of Stanley Park, enjoy a walk in Gastown with the old steam clock and the many gift shops.
Look out for some Hollywood film sets as Vancouver is used for many big Hollywood movies and shows. That's why you might hear that Vancouver is called "Hollywood North". Here are some examples of shows and movies that were/are filmed here: "Dead Pool", "Skyscraper", "The X-Files", "Dark Angel", "Stargate-SG1", "The 6th Day", "Kiss of the Dragon", "Small Ville" and many more. Then there is also the Canada Place, the stadiums, the Harbour Lookout, the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, Science World, the Vancouver Art Gallery and much more! All of these attractions are located within minutes from the city centre.
Vancouver is also popular in the winter for winter activities. There are 3 local mountains where you can do any type of winter sport. There is Grouse Mountain, most famous for it's stunning views over the city and fresh powder snow. Grouse Mountain is accessible by skyride...this is a big airtram that will take you up to the top of the mountain. Mount Seymour and Cypress Mountain are famous too and you also get wonderful views from the top of these mountains. As you can see...Vancouver has lots to offer. The Winter Olympics were held here in 2010 as well.

I got a new Batis 85 few days ago to replace the XF56mm I sold earlier since the Zeiss Batis promotion was extended to the end of the month. I didn't really bring this lens our for any major shoot yet.
I just took it for a quick walk and this cat just kept following me. Maybe that is because my clothing has some smell from my cats. In comparison to my cats, he is pretty muscular as he has only a small belly. I played with him for almost 30mins before waving a good-bye...since he is near my home, I guess I will bump into him time to time :)

~ last of the series of this park - this is the front view of the main waterfall, mist is abundant with the heavy water flow, so necessitated me keeping up with clearing the lens - another gorgeous gem tucked away in an Island park ~

It was great to see that the river is nice and full of fish for the bears this year.
This one was taking his time deciding which fish that he would like as the fish jumped about and the turkey vultures eagerly awaited the leftovers. I have never seen as many turkey vultures in this area before - they were literally falling out of the trees as they watched, quite the sight to watch.

I have been looking for something like this for a while - moss covered trees bordered by fallen red leaves along a stretch of quiet road in Squamish.
Whistler Blackcomb is opening next week and I couldn't be more excited! The other day I decided to go for a hike above Emerald. We got some nice views but for the most part we saw a lot of clouds so I was lucky to get a decent shot.

A lone locomotive roams the flat lands in Delta, BC, close to Roberts Banks. The single SD40-2 is the switcher for Roberts Bank and is picking up a set of cars way in the distance. The conductor on the job kicks up dust in his truck as he drives down to the joint. Meanwhile a separate cloud of dust is formed as a crew taxis to the intermodal train on the left.

This shot was inspired by that famous cherry blossom shot in Tokyo Skytree. I tried few spots at the Waterfront Station to get an angle similar to the photo I saw.
Have a wonderful week! :)
