“The Real Town of Buckhead,” this quaint town of just 200 people is a world away from Atlanta’s more famous Buckhead neighborhood. Established in 1908 along the railroad, Buckhead has evolved into a peaceful retreat near Lake Oconee. (text from Explore Georgia website)
Reminds me of the outpouring of love and goodness of God. so much to be thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving.
This Southern Fox Squirrel was jumping from limb to limb with a few family members. I don’t see them often and it was very entertaining to watch them scurry around on the ground and chase each other in the trees. They are not as prevalent in the area as the Eastern Grays we have in North Georgia.
Across the Bruce Peninsula from our cottage... a favourite hangout for the grandkids...

We were going up, this is the view to prove it. And as you go up, you can see more and more of the nature and this beautiful landscape, a beautiful mountain river, green grass and all the fresh air you can breath in. But not this time, not this time about the view, other things exist, but we were not that lucky with the view, so with every step you go, the view disappears little by little.
This is the Rogers House in Madison Georgia. The Explore Georgia website states: "Rogers House - This house is a fine example of Piedmont Plain-style architecture seen throughout the rural Southern United States. Designed as a two-over-two style, the back shed portion most likely was added around 1820 when census records showed that 18 people lived in the house. The house pre-dates the Morgan County Courthouse by almost 100 years. It has been restored using photographs and records from the City of Madison archives and looks as it probably appeared in 1873. Over the years, the house has had 17 owners. Furnishings are representative of the mid-19th century."

(See links). This was on the trail to Hemlock Falls at Cloudland Canyon.
Cloudland Canyon State Park is in northwest Georgia, on the western edge of Lookout Mountain. Boulder-strewn Sitton Gulch Creek cuts a deep gorge into the mountain. Sitton's Gulch Trail runs parallel to the creek. The short, steep Waterfalls Trail, with stairs down into the canyon, leads to Cherokee Falls and Hemlock Falls, where water cascades down into pools. Nearby, Sitton’s Cave has mineral formations.
Located on the western edge of Lookout Mountain, Cloudland Canyon is one of the largest and most scenic parks in the state. Home to thousand-foot deep canyons, sandstone cliffs, wild caves, waterfalls, cascading creeks, dense woodland and abundant wildlife, the park offers ample outdoor recreation opportunities.
Hiking and mountain biking trails abound. The most popular hiking paths include the short Overlook Trail, strenuous Waterfalls Trail and moderate West Rim Loop Trail. Mountain biking is available at the newly developed Five Points Recreation Area and along the Cloudland Connector Trail. The park also includes an 18-hole disc golf course, wild caves available for touring during select months of the year, a fishing pond, trails for horseback riding, picnicking grounds and numerous interpretive programs, especially on weekends.
Guests seeking an overnight experience can choose from fully-equipped and comfortable cottages, quirky yurts or several different types of camping and backpacking options. Come enjoy the great outdoors at Cloudland Canyon State Park.

This is Rose Cottage in Madison, Georgia. The Explore Georgia website provides the following information about this structure: "Rose Cottage - Adeline Rose built her house in 1891. Little is known of her before October 1891 when she earned her living by taking in washing and ironing at 50 cents a load. Most of her early work was done for the boarders of the Hardy House, which was owned by the mother of the famous comedian Oliver Hardy. Adeline Rose died in 1959 after living in the house for 68 years. In 1966, the City of Madison moved the Rose Cottage to its present location. It was felt that it was very important to save this little house built out of the labor of love of a woman who was born into slavery."
