The Asteraceae or Compositae, also referred to as the aster, daisy, or sunflower family, is the largest family of vascular plants. The family has more than 22,750 currently accepted species, spread across 1620 genera, and 12 subfamilies. The largest genera are Senecio (1,500 species), Vernonia (1,000 species), Cousinia (600 species) and Centaurea (600 species).
Most members of the Asteraceae are herbaceous, but a significant number are also shrubs, vines and trees. The family is distributed throughout the world, and is most common in the arid and semi-arid regions of subtropical and lower temperate latitudes.
Many economically important products come from composites, including cooking oils, lettuce, sunflower seeds, artichokes, sweetening agents, and teas. Several genera are also very popular with the horticultural community, these include marigolds, chrysanthemums, dahlias, zinnias, and heleniums.
Exploding Head Syndrome is a hardcore punk band from Oslo, Norway. The band hit the rehearsal space for the first time in the summer of 2010, and about a year later released their first recordings; a 7-tracks self-titled EP, which was well received by the norwegian press.
EHS describe their sound as “angry punk” and their lyrics deal with the stress and frustration of todays society. The band is highly influenced by american punk and british hardcore. Exploding Head Syndrome is renowned for their energetic live shows and in the last couple of years the band has toured Norway and has shared stage with bands like Satyricon, Oslo Ess and Blood Command.
On 9. October 2013 the band released their first full-length album Disciples of Reason on their own label Exploding Records. On the record they co-operated with producer Kenneth Ishak (Heyerdahl/Beezwax). The reception of the album has been great, and it has been hailed as the norwegian album of year by some critics.

4th of July 2011 from Seattle. Fireworks galore as they go off. I used BULB mode on the camera and F/8 to take most of the shots. Enjoy!

Really. These little demons have hair triggers! Brushing on the hairs causes them to explode liquid and seeds all over. They are tricky though. They don't always explode.
Exploding Cucumber (ecballium elaterium)
Los Angeles, California. I'm not sure what this is but it's one of the few flower shots I got that I like. There's a great variety of flowers in the Getty Center Central Garden but no room for a tripod on the walkway and there's little shade so be prepared for full sun unless you go at either end of the day.
The big day-Sweet 16. I took this right before we left for the country club. Man she was a stoked and dad was $9000 broke. Was it worth it? I don't know, I just want my baby never to grow up.
