I shot this image at Shore Acres along the Oregon Coast on a very active ocean day. Not King Tides per se, but very heavy surf that exploded onto the rocks and swept the shore. The rock seen here stands more than twenty-feet tall. This wave rumbled as it crashed into the rocks.

I had another go at processing my star trails from Castle Hill the other day by using fewer shots. When stacking the 60 shots using Sequator I forgot to set it to stack for star trails. Instead Sequator tried to align all the stars. The result I got was totally unexpected and literally out of this world!

First I took the foreground 240 sec exposure, f/5.0, ISO 3200. Next I took a timelapse of 120 images, 30 sec exposure,, f/2.8, ISO 1000, but I only used 30 images for this. Denoised in DxO PhotoLab 6.5. Star trails stacked using Sequator (using aligment). Finally composited with the foreground using Affinity Photo.

The Church of Sanctuary of Our Lady of Tears, Syracuse, Sicily, built to honour of a local miracle in 1953, a weeping statue. It was completed in 1994 but took 28 years to build due to opposition to the design. As suggested by the title, I think the design was almost certainly based on an interpretation of an exploding teardrop.

Stormy winter waves crashing onto the Partan Craigs sandstone rocks off Dysart beach. Unlike my previous wave photos there are no seagulls in shot, because the only living creature stupid enough to be out in those conditions was this dumb photographer! Made Explore #370 on 24 May 2008

A White-tailed Jack Rabbit or Prairie Hare - better name, because it is a hare, not a rabbit (thanks, Gerry) - crosses an open space in a series of great leaps. Powerful hind legs allow them to bound 12-20 feet, sustain speeds of 36 mph, and reach up to 45 mph in short bursts. This one has almost completed its transition to a mainly white winter coat.

They often hide in plain view, using their camouflage to blend into their surroundings, but this one surprised me - or maybe I surprised him - by exploding from the middle of a snowy field and dashing across the winter prairie. I was hiking and had just missed another, who did the same thing. Second time lucky!

This species inhabits native grasslands and agricultural prairie from ne California to eastern Washington, across to Minnesota, Iowa, and Kansas, nudging into Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta at the northern extent of its range. There seems to be a steady supply of them in my area. To quote one of my mammal guide books, "Their astonishing reproductive powers help compensate for their high rate of predation."

Pine Tree's,love the wet Spring we are having.

This is about the best firework I got from New Years Eve 2018, unfortunately this year the trees were taller and the fireworks were more to the right out of sight. But at least I tried.

I'll have another attempt for fireworks on the Australia Day Weekend coming up.
