After John Hunter’s death, Home inherited his manuscripts which included Hunter’s own description of his anatomical collection. Thirty years later Home burned the manuscripts and started a controversy which remains to this day. Home claimed that Hunter requested him to destroy the papers, but some historians suggest he simply plagiarised them to further his own reputation. Whatever the truth the above work has been described as "a fine piece of scholarship and printing" (Eimas) <br /> Dplt: Duplicate copies of vols. 1,2,4,5 and 6 in Basement 11
